@@jackfrohreich2400 honestly they’re chill as. my instructor had his arm out the window as if he was my dad, and he was just saying “turn left at the end of this street”, “go straight through the lights”, etc etc. obviously i’m basing that on just one instructor, but my friends have had similar experiences. there’s no need to be nervous, especially if you know what you’re doing.

Just passed my test a few days ago. I watched your videos the night before and they really helped me. I passed second go but the first test I did was over a year ago. I failed the first test and it really broke my confidence. My driving instructor at the time was incredibly harsh and I just felt like I couldn't learn from her. Thankfully, I moved on and passed a year later second go.
Your videos are amazing. This is the best parallel parking video on TH-cam. Very clear instructions and easier to put into practice. I got closer to the curb with practising after watching your video. It made me feel more relaxed and confident when you said students worry too much about parallel parking. Excellent driving instruction tutorial.
Thanks so much for the excellent teaching, Jimbo. Our two kids are very close to sitting for their P's and have their hours up and so we're just needing to get the reverse parking under their belts. We have been teaching them ourselves and plan to get a few lessons just prior to the test, but concerned about costs. My husband is great with parking but I have terrible spatial perception and avoid reverse parking like the plague and had forgotten everything. I've written down your points and will have some practice myself. While I was watching your video, husband took our daughter out and she got two out of three in but your tips will really help.

@@dianagleek Yes, if you are holding a original overseas driver's license, you can take the test. Once you pass the test you get full license straight away.
@@damonlang1185 my only advice is never doubt your own judgement and make sure you do your head checks when turning. I was nervous at first but eventually it just turned out to be a regular drive ☺️. Mine only went for 30 minutes. Goodluck :)

Hi Jimbo, thanks for the video, is that Ok if at the end the distance to the kerb is less than 50 cm say around 30 cm in a way that left tyres are partially on the concrete and asphalt? Like your kerbside manoeuvre video? Or need to be clipped the edge of the concrete? The concrete width seems less than 50 cm I think.
This actually really helps out a lot for me!! Because I’m not really a book reader and my brain learns to understand this way quicker in a video and even better if it’s shown lol. I’ll be getting my own car very very soon and since I already have my permit, I’ll definitely be coming to this channel a lot and learn how to drive a lot and drive my way into a license!! :DD

hi jimbo, i have my test next week, i am confused about this thing - i dont straighten the wheel and go back this is what my instructor said for me to do - - put on left indicator and line up back seat of your car with end of other car (with a 1 m gap) 2- change GEAR to REVERSE 3- turn WHEEL LEFT for 1 full circle 4- CHECK right shoulder 5- LOOK BEHIND and reverse till 45* angle 6- turn WHEEL RIGHT 1 full circle 7- reverse till FRONT door handle looks like it’s hitting the kerb 8- turn WHEEL FULL RIGHT LOCK 9- reverse until parallel 10- change GEAR to DRIVE 11- make a STRAIGHT WHEEL and roll forward leaving a 1m gap
Yes you can do whatever system works for you. The way you are doing it though has no facility for adjustment if you happen to be parking against a wider vehicle or you happen to park wide. Why I teach to steer straight is so you can make allowances for this. So if you happen to start wide you will reverse straight a bit longer before turning. If you start wide you will finish wide with your system.

Hey Jimbo, when reverse during this manoeuvre, if you accidently hit the kerb, is it considered an instant fail? or do you just lose test points? (and same question for kerbside stop) Thanks, David
Hi David, generally if you just hit the kerb then it is scored just a circle error. If you mount the kerb (ie go up) then you are scored F3 fail. That's with all manoeuvres (rev park, 3pt, kerbstop). Always move slowly near the kerb to avoid the F3. Hope this helps :)
Hi Jimbo, very helpful video. Thank you so much for tips! Can you clarify if we can use the reverse camera? I mean I will still do all the checks and look at the back window while reversing but can we stop, look at the reverse cam and then start reversing again (looking at the back window)? The NSW driving test guide says we can do this but some people have told me we can’t, the examiner turns off the reverse cam.

You can't look at the screen for the reverse camera in the test, best to use side mirror (with little added bubble mirror, it's very handy as you can see your back wheels in it) and looking back and forth between the front/rear windows when reversing :)

Thanks for the videos, I followed all your instructions , and passed my test in first attempt. I got full lisence, because I had overseas lisence.

@@dianagleek Yes Diana, after passing your DKT you may proceed to take a driving test if you have a valid overseas license.
@@dianagleek Yes, if you are holding a original overseas driver's license, you can take the test. Once you pass the test you get full license straight away.

@@damonlang1185 my only advice is never doubt your own judgement and make sure you do your head checks when turning. I was nervous at first but eventually it just turned out to be a regular drive ☺️. Mine only went for 30 minutes. Goodluck :)

is that Ok if at the end the distance to the kerb is less than 50 cm say around 30 cm in a way that left tyres are partially on the concrete and asphalt? Like your kerbside manoeuvre video?
Or need to be clipped the edge of the concrete? The concrete width seems less than 50 cm I think.
This actually really helps out a lot for me!! Because I’m not really a book reader and my brain learns to understand this way quicker in a video and even better if it’s shown lol.
I’ll be getting my own car very very soon and since I already have my permit, I’ll definitely be coming to this channel a lot and learn how to drive a lot and drive my way into a license!! :DD
I havent been able to take driving lessons and I can go for my P1 next month so I was getting anxious, but after watching lots of your videos I've applied that to my driving and feel ready to do my test!

hi jimbo, i have my test next week, i am confused about this thing - i dont straighten the wheel and go back this is what my instructor said for me to do -
- put on left indicator and line up back seat of your car with end of other car (with a 1 m gap)
2- change GEAR to REVERSE
3- turn WHEEL LEFT for 1 full circle
4- CHECK right shoulder
5- LOOK BEHIND and reverse till 45* angle
6- turn WHEEL RIGHT 1 full circle
7- reverse till FRONT door handle looks like it’s hitting the kerb
8- turn WHEEL FULL RIGHT LOCK
9- reverse until parallel
10- change GEAR to DRIVE
11- make a STRAIGHT WHEEL and roll forward leaving a 1m gap
So what do you want to know ?

Yes you can do whatever system works for you. The way you are doing it though has no facility for adjustment if you happen to be parking against a wider vehicle or you happen to park wide. Why I teach to steer straight is so you can make allowances for this. So if you happen to start wide you will reverse straight a bit longer before turning. If you start wide you will finish wide with your system.

can you also tell about the steering position in reverse parallel ,like where to move and how much to move.. one and a half then reverse and then two turns ?

Hey Jimbo, when reverse during this manoeuvre, if you accidently hit the kerb, is it considered an instant fail? or do you just lose test points? (and same question for kerbside stop)

Hi David, generally if you just hit the kerb then it is scored just a circle error. If you mount the kerb (ie go up) then you are scored F3 fail. That's with all manoeuvres (rev park, 3pt, kerbstop). Always move slowly near the kerb to avoid the F3. Hope this helps :)

Can you clarify if we can use the reverse camera? I mean I will still do all the checks and look at the back window while reversing but can we stop, look at the reverse cam and then start reversing again (looking at the back window)? The NSW driving test guide says we can do this but some people have told me we can’t, the examiner turns off the reverse cam.
Yes you can refer to the reverse camera but still do the other head checks.

One the driving test, will you always be parking behind a car, or might the tester ask to part in front of a car?
With the reverse parallel it is always behind the car.

You can't look at the screen for the reverse camera in the test, best to use side mirror (with little added bubble mirror, it's very handy as you can see your back wheels in it) and looking back and forth between the front/rear windows when reversing :)
