I miss the way women used to dress back in the old days, I always liked seeing women in sweaters, I thought Sister Sledge pulled off a great version of the classic Mary Wells tune and it's hard to say which version I like better.

I still have a VHS tape recorded from the spring of 1982 Off of HBO. It had a full, overnight 6 hours of recording. This tech was still very new and very expensive then. But, anyway, I've always kept that tape because it featured "The Haunting of Julia" (obscure, creepy movie with Mia Farrow), "Escape from New York", "The Hand" (Michael Caine), and an episode of "Video Jukebox", which contained this video, "I Love Rock and Roll" (Joan Jett), "Ebony and Ivory" (McCartney and Wonder), and "Physical" (Olivia Newton John). It also has various promos and trailers for then-recent stuff airing on HBO, including "The Legend of the Lone Ranger", "Dead and Buried", and other things. I never really saw this video anywhere else until now.
By the time this vid was made, both Sledge sisters had gotten their braces off. Yay! They hit #23 pop in Billboard, 4-3-82. God bless y'all, Sledges! Thanx, friend, for postin' it. Have a blessed rest of the week!

No cause of death was immediately known. Joni, along with her sisters Debra, Kim and Kathy, formed the group in 1971 in Philadelphia, initially recording for Money Records. A single for Atco Records, "Love Don't You Go Through No Changes On Me" did make it to #92 in 1975 (and took the Silver Prize at the Tokyo Music Festival). But it wasn't until the quartet paired with producers Bernard Edwards and Niles Rogers of Chic that they broke through with "He's The Greatest Dance"(#9 in 1979) on Cotillion Records. It was immediately followed by "We Are Family" (#2* in 1979). But six more chart appearances yielded only one more hit, a cover of Mary Wells' "My Guy" (#23 in 1982). Kathy left for a solo career in 1989, but the remaining three sisters continued performing...
