    I guess you could say that the system needs an... upgrade!!

  • @mkatakm
    @mkatakm ปีที่แล้ว +2

    After I maxed out a car, I can't spend those unused car credits on other cars, hence much of my hard earned credits are being wasted. If upgrades were done with money, like all other games, I would be able to spend it on any car. Just like in real life.

    @dumahim ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I'm OK with a leveling system, but absolutely against locking upgrade parts behind it. It's a major factor in why I won't even buy the game. I like to try cars out and sometimes you need to mess with it to get it to drive like you want to. Some cars work, some don't work out as you'd like, so you're just out some money. No biggy. Now I have to dump a bunch of time into a car and the currency as well? F that.
    Also, it sounds like the available series is rather limited, which is a huge turnoff as well. I'm burned out on having to fire up the game ever week just to complete new events that are going to disappear. Give me some meat I can chew on at my own pace, and when I'm done, I'm free to step away for a few months and be able to come back and not miss out on anything.

    • @benn87
      @benn87 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These time-limited events annoy me a lot, too. I also want to play when I want to and not because the developers are putting me under time pressure because they are removing a certain content soon. This trend sucks.

    • @atlien1988
      @atlien1988 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you don't like an upgrade, you can refund your CP and reuse them for another upgrade instead. You don't lose your currency.

      @@atlien1988 That does nothing for the times when you dump hours into leveling a car up to unlock mods only to find out you don't feel like the car performs as you'd like. Those hours are wasted.

    i think it should be like in FM4 Affinity System it should use manufacturers instead so you can you for example Audi Rs6 or Audi R8 GT Car and you still progress

    I think parts locked behind challenges that unlock parts for all cars. Car Points behind Division or Manufacturer Level. That way the people that like certain cars play them, and can also unlock parts and currency for other cars.

  • @brettjames5061
    @brettjames5061 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Personally, I would allow you to buy upgrades at a high price (something like 500k for an engine swap when in horizon 5 it would be 50k) , then the level system will unlock those parts for free. Also add other bonuses like credits. Remove the points system completely, Make the leveling faster, instead of 3 hours per car, make it 1 or 2. And add a shit ton of events, like a 300ish. Also some endgame ones that give like 10 million credits for an endurance race. Its the easiest part to add and forza motorsport 4 did that years ago. the current lack of events caters to a sandbox game without progression, and they made the grindest game in the series. Also open up the event restrictions. Let me race my Honda Fit against GT3 cars. Its stupid but fun.
    side note: Achievement requirements can be changed although its rare. notable example is overwatch 1 had a character overhaul for Mercy that made a previous achievement impossible. so both xbox and sony let them change it. Im sure xbox would allow turn 10 to change it to.

    A personal opinion on how to improve the car upgrade system is by looking at how GT7 categories the upgrades. You have 6 tiers of upgrades in GT7: street, sport, club sport, semi racing, racing, and extreme. All those tiers contain parts for engine upgrade, suspension upgrade, gearbox upgrade, tyres and weight reduction and each tier is locked until you reach a certain level in the game. Combining this upgrade tier with the new car upgrade and leveling system in forza allows players to customize their cars to their liking and needs while still maintain some form of restriction and therefore progression. Like let’s say the street upgrade tier is unlocked from car level 1 but you still need to collect car points first to buy the upgrade so then the player needs to enter a race and practice session which means they can sus out what upgrade they should prioritize first, either it engine upgrade or handling upgrade. The player could then build the car to their liking, even experimenting on other builds while still needing to up their car level to unlock the other upgrade tiers

    One of the main problems I've found is that, some B class cars can be fantastic A or S class cars with upgrades. However you need to race TF out of a car before you can upgrade it that far, which is stupid. Such a huge time sink.

  • @gripp9k
    @gripp9k ปีที่แล้ว

    I didn't have any issue with the upgrade system, and I think I know why they did it; you can actually feel the upgrades in the car much better in this version of the game, so it's kinda like buying a car, you drive it around stock for a bit, and then start adding upgrades as you own it. Which is how you do it in real life. So I personally think it adds to the immersion.

  • @benn87
    @benn87 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am a career player. To be honest, what annoys me the most is that Turn10 has marketed the career mode as new from the beginning, when in reality it offers nothing new. Why can't you have more variety in the career?
    The upgrade system would be much better if they let us decide for ourselves when to upgrade which part. The car XP points can stay for all I care. Why don't the car parts just all have different prices? That way you would have a lot more freedom.

    other important issues are as follows,
    1 when you want to get in a car theres a break away sequence where it doesent show you gettin in or out the car like horizon 5 did whuch was a nice realistic touch.
    2nd why cant whee freely view our car while we are purchasing it instead they force do the weird ass locked in multiple camera angle crap, as well i when we are painting the car or choosing rims the car is fixed on a close up view only i mean am i the only one that notices this inconvenient shit or what. id say the only good thing about this game that is better than horizon 5 is that these cars in here are extremely priced reasonably compared to horizon 5, example the most expensive car in motorsports is the 2020 koennisegg jesko which is $450,000 yet horizon 5 outrageous prices are uterly rediculous having the most expensive car i forgot the name but its an old one for $143,000,000 yes 143 million. hell with that kinda money you can buy this motorsports entire roster about 4 times over an still have enough for a cheap ass civic😂

    @jackboulter4901 ปีที่แล้ว

    Update from turn 10 on the upgrade system and how they've adjusted it in motorsports first Update which comes out today this is what they've said.
    Adjusted car part unlock levels to increase player upgrade options at lower car levels. Most car parts should now be unlocked within a single Builders Cup series.
    Improvements to ensure Car Affinity manufacturer reward discounts are unlocked when intended - once a player reaches Car Level 50 in a car from the respective brand.
    I personally think this is an alright start, but it still needs massively tweaking in my opinion.
    Another update, just checked in game and all car part level requirements have been massively reduced plus engine and drive train swaps both unlock at level 25 however i still don't personally think this is enough, its definitely a step in the right direction but i still think everything should be unlocked from the start and they give us say 2000 car points for each car at level 1 to give us some freedom.

    Like if you drive a classic mini, the xp go partially also to all hatchbacks, classic cars, minis in general, fwd, front engine etc… the more a characteristic is common (eg front engine) the less % of xp it gets or something like that

    Why is noone talking about the fact that the game struggles to save your vehicle data when you modify, paint or buy a car?? It's so bad that you have to quit the game, restart it and even then your mods aren't saved AND you have to go back and redo the last race or 2 that you've already done? THAT is what is breaking the game. I can live with the leveling system and the game play is great but its almost impossible to progress through the career when you modify or buy a new car and then have to go back and redo the last bloody race you just did
    Its the only thing that is breaking the game for me and I'm a huge FM fan.
    I've done super sedans 3 or 4 times now and my car is almost level 50 because of this.
    It's a huge issue, there's a post on the forza and reddit forums with literally hundreds of people complaining about it and no content creators are talking about it and there hasn't been a fix or patch made for it?

  • @Razor1640

    I think the main thing that drew me personally to the older Motorsport games, aka 3 & 4, was the whole "sandbox" style of it. I could buy FM4 & a 360, spend 30 mins doing 3 races in one of the first cars (a nissan for the 100% off parts) and I'd be able to go drifting instantly. Granted, 4 was way too easy from a career standpoint but it made it a lot easier for free mode/split screen racing with mates, because you could customise something before going into free mode.... & if you didn't have the parts for that car, race it for 30 mins max and you've got them.
    I'll amend what I said above... FM4 was waaaay too easy lmao
    I've only spent a couple of hours in the new one and well... let's just say, that whole "sandbox" feel, that made Horizon 1 + FM4 so good & that even FM7 retained to a certain extent, is gone now.
    I went to buy a 240sx to go drifting, can't do anything even in free mode.
    All I was waiting for, really, was the ability to do that.
    Good game otherwise. Really reminds me of the older ones in almost every other way 👌

    This system makes the game almost unplayable for me. With my schedule i only have about 3 hours per day I can play. Also my favorite thing to do in FM7 was to build random cars for drag racing. Being that it takes hours just to upgrade a car you cant really do that anymore. They also completely removed drag racing. I dont even have time to play the game now. I wont be buying it if they keep this system. Unless they go back to the way it was in FM2 with leveling up manufacturers.

    Similarly to you, I like the upgrade system in itself. However, I see it becoming tedious, especially when the campaign races are completed. In Forza 7, I loved to buy classic cars and make them in to classic racing cars, then race them with my friends. This system, unfortunately, makes it much harder for me to do this. Say I want to make a Cortina and an E-Type racing car, I'll have to spend hours leveling them both up to have just two cars by the end. The best solution is what you've said, or alternatively as others have said, levels tied to manufacturers. I really hope they take the feedback on board as it'll make the game much more enjoyable.

    If they wont remove it entirely, I think your idea might be the best one I've heard yet
    As the game currently stands, it goes completely against my play style and in my little bubble, makes the game unworkable for me, as I love to just fire up the previous forza games, might be for 15mins, might be for 2 hours, and just mess around with cars, I'll just browse the car list aimlessly - I've got the cash, what's this car like, ill buy it, put down maybe 5 laps in a race with it stock, and then go "now I want to see how it goes RWD instead of FWD, with no other changes" - now instead of just buying the upgrade, I have to put in 3 to 5 hours, and lets be honest, I suck, so it will be closer to that 5hr mark - to get that RWD conversion upgrade - only to find out the car is a bit pants with the upgrade, or just not to my liking, and I've wasted those hours for nothing, where as I'd have found out much earlier in the old system, and moved on literally hours beforehand
    I know a lot of other people love it, but personally, it breaks my own personal enjoyment of how I play the games, to the point of I simply wont purchase the game at all, and I jumped off the Gran Turismo ship to jump onto FM2, and have been with the FM franchise ever since, but this one, currently as it is? I just cant

    I like the upgrade and level system.
    If I had to describe it to someone, I would say its kinda like a RPG with cars. and I like that.
    The way the upgrade works really helps you become better at setups and driving. Being able to identify where your car needs improvement is a massively helpful tool. Yeah its a bit more grindy but I think it creates a more personal connection with the cars you want to drive.
    this system is new. give it some time.
    I disagree about the individual car levels changing to class levels. This feature is here to stay. They put a lot of work into this system and its a vital part of the experience.
    I think the people who dislike it the most, are the people who don't want to make a commitment to the system. They just want to race online as soon as possible without any thought of

The new clutch system is a joke and I'm glad I didn't pay for this game, at least in the classic sense of the word. From a franchise that delivered the earlier titles on the 360, this is just unbelievably bad. I'm almost tempted to scrap the whole new gen stuff and go back to my 360 and forgetting new games exist. The driving is great. The AI is god awful and some of the worst I've ever seen in a racing game, but the driving is great. And they ruin it with this progression system that makes playing the game feel like a chore all for player retention instead of player empowerment and engagement. That is, under no circumstances, how a game should be developed. Turn 10 absolutely dropped the ball here and this entire system desperately needs a revamp sooner rather than later or this game's community is going to fizzle out when the honeymoon phase ends and people get sick of a 3 hour grind to get to 50. People thinking that the mighty Forza Motorsport is above that are delusional. Racing games are a dime a dozen and with ever impressive racing sims, especially on PC, this game is hardly the monolith it thinks it is to pull stuff like this.
    The people that use the excuse that this system is about "connecting" with the car are just eating up the marketing BS. There's no connecting here outside of annoyance. All the upgrades come at the exact same time regardless of car (Tire compounds at 12, Differentials at 9, etc) so there's no "connection" being formed. It's just a meaningless grind with minimal reward.
    I agree that they won't be able to remove this because of the achievements tied to this stupid system in favor of going back to a traditional "credits to buy everything because that's how real life is" model. So how can it be fixed? imo Make "car level" still exist (accelerate how quickly people can level up though by at least double) but connect it to a more universal manufacturer affinity where car levels still give Car Points (increase the amount of Car Points gained per level as well instead of like 9,200 being dumped on you at level 50 while the rest of the levels give 100, 200, 400) and the manufacturer affinity exists for car discounts and parts. Split up the parts as well. Early on I should not be able to look at exhaust and go full racing exhaust. Early on it should be sport modifications, then an intermediate set during the middle manufacturer levels, then a "racing" set for the later manufacturer levels all with different prices to apply them. This way it really will be about "connecting" to cars and a specific brand like Ferrari or Ford or Chevrolet because it will actually reward you for sticking with them long term.
    Either way this system is stupid. All these "fixes" that people are thinking up are doing is just putting a band aid on a bullet hole. This system never should have been devised much less implemented. The fact that a room full of developers thought of this, thought it was a good idea for progression, and then made it and put it in the game in this iteration calls into question the capability of that entire team. This is supposed to be Forza Motorsport, not Pokemon. I'm not supposed to "Catch em all" and then grind levels to get cars to max level so I get new "abilities". But if that has to be the way it's done, and it seems like it will be for this game, they need to optimize it. Ultimately it comes down if Turn 10 has hubris or humility. Sadly I do not think it's going to be the latter. Developers tend to double down on design decisions like this because otherwise they have to admit they screwed up, meaning the top brass screwed up, meaning it calls their job performance into question.

We don't need a second job grinding for credits to buy and unlock things. I would much rather spend more for the game and have everything unlocked. Most people don't have free time to spend hours upon hours just to drive slow and poor handling cars. It's a video game we want to drive cars that are good not slow cars that need upgrades. I buy, mod, tune and paint cars. If Chris thinks I'll buy same versions of cars and drive them all to LVL50 to unlock all the stuff to create replicas of old race and rally cars, he is wrong. This hasn't been thought through.
    MOST drivers, will be completely fed up of this game as it stands in 2 months. Not even all reviews are scoring the game on this. It's a joke, I didn't vote for this system - or any other broken system that looks anything like this. So, I can vote with my feet and not buy it. It's a huge huge shame, but it needs fixing.
    Even if the levels were locked to a manufacturer, it still would be a huge grind - but it would be hell of a lot less FORCED-GRIND than the flawed crap shipping with the default game. I don't want this, and I get to vote with my feet. I hope fans complain loudly, as this seems rush and has little thought. Previous games were about car collection, modding, etc. Now they are trying to change our playing habits? Please fekk off Chris. You should resign from T10 - I feel so strong about it.
    It'll kill career play for lots of people. It's a flawed grind system, that isn't fun at all.

    On PC , cheat engine or wemod will unlock all parts when you want, its a video game, we should be able to play how we want and not have to grind for hours to upgrade one car.

    Or. You need to be fixed. Stop trying to change the game and adapt to the game. It’s not any other game and we don’t want it to be like any other game. As soon as you let people upgrade at free will you’ll have civics with v12’s going 300 mph and that’s just extremely stupid. It’s not horizon. You don’t want to play the game to get better? You just want to throw 800hp in anything and drive? Go play horizon. Or motorfest or whatever. If you don’t like it. Then go. More lobby space for us

      It ain’t about that and if you were an og Motorsport fan you’d understand the problem. My favorite thing was fm7 open track days and just building different cars and having fun with each other. Or say I just want to hop in a car build it and go drift I can’t do that now

      The issue is that it drains the fun out of just building a car. In Forza 7, open track days were fun. I loved building classic racing cars. Unfortunately, to do that now, I'd have to spend hours upon hours grinding the cars to eventually have them how I like. The system itself is good, but criticising it is going to make it better.

      @@bababababa30 you should still be able to do all of that in Free Play. It allows you to use even locked & exclusive models that aren't in your garage.
