One of the riders kissing the ground is exactly what I would have done after that ride! Amazing series, scenery is so beautiful, trails make me want to just hop on my bike and ride!
Haha, that was me! The same “Ryan” he mentioned getting sick overnight. I ended up riding that whole day powered by electrolyte drinks and a banana. Brian doesn’t mention it because we were losing daylight but after Patacancha we did a bonus lap of Pumamarca. Gassed! It was a GREAT day on the bike!
Awesome video that showcases the beauty and adventure of exploring the Peruvian Andes on a mountain bike. About this video I would love to say that: "Sometimes the most unforgettable journeys are the ones that take us off the beaten path, where we can connect with nature, challenge ourselves, and discover the true essence of a place."
I couldn't take my eyes off the trail, it was like I was riding it, including feeling my stomach drop on some of those narrow sketchy spots. Your little squeaks and eeks were priceless. So many dogs in Peru, we never had any issues, but walking by they usually ignore you. All different kinds everywhere. The street dogs in Cusco are unlike dogs anywhere else in the world, they have their own little society separate from humans and unconnected to humans. It was so interesting to see how they interacted, greeted each other and played. I've never seen anything like it. They completely ignore people and just do their own thing.
15,000ft. Amazing dealing with wind, hail, cold, new wet rocky cliff side trails, lack of O2, headaches... and you can still narrate your rides like a pro.!
This ride was 20.7km with 1400m of descending and only 141m of climbing. I guess it was “cross country” compared to most everything else on this trip! Another great video Brian! 🙏
This. Is. Mountain Biking. Although I ride, I can never commit to doing these high-risk rides but I am able to shred vicariously through your videos. Thanks, man.
Wow Brian this is such premium content! This video for some reason reminded me of Romancing The Stone lol what an adventure this day was, so glad you had the opportunity to do this and take us along.
Great content Brian! You are among the top adventure/travel channels with Itchy Boots and EvaZuBeck. The beauty of mountain biking is that you can go where others can't on wheels
Thanks for the video! I am going through a difficult time in my life and I feel like have just ridden this trail with you. It lifts the mood and I forget all my problems. Beautiful ride, amazing scenery.
I have really been enjoying this Peru series... super great content! I lived in Peru years ago and have been there 4-5 times, such an amazing place, so diverse and interesting! The sacred valley truly is an incredible experience, I'm looking forward to going back sooner than later, and hopefully get some riding in!
@@joshdesj claro que así será, esta parte de la cordillera de los andes tiene increíbles senderos para le mtb, con mucho gusto le ayudaremos a planear el viaje mas épico en bici
I’ve been riding dirt bikes for 20 years with my wife and mtbs the last 3, I totally understand what you are getting at. Much too tough to ride ahead and leave loved ones on their own, can’t not worry, love them too much. Great series of videos my friend 👍 keep um coming!
Hi Brian, looking the video, it seems to me that the meal of El Chuncho, was the peruvian ancient “pachamanca”, that now includes various types of meat (cow, pork, alpaca, cuy, chicken, etc.) with potatos, sweet potatos, corn, etc. all seasoned with local ingredients, carefully packed with big plants leaves (ex: banana leaves) and roasted underground with the heat of stones previously exposed to fire. Hope you enjoyed it.
Peru ia a beautiful country, I would love to go back again one day. Those routes look amazing. I guess some people like doing everything fast, but for me personally, scenery like that is best seen and experienced at a slower pace, even on a bike.
Hi, Brian👋 I love your peruan adventure, those rocky trails are awesome 🙈 It's so nice for me staying home today on bad weather and watch your episode. You inspire me and just to know, I'm about to ride something new these days, but here in Romania 🇹🇩🚴♂️💪 Cheers man🙏🥇
When I went to Peru I said to the guys from Holy Trail guides that I wanted only full 100% downhill trails and that I didnt wanted to do not even 50 metters uphill, specialy in Cusco where the base altitude is 3.000 metters. Pedal uphill in 3 thousand metters is for braves. Cant wait to come back to Peru and ride that mystic magic trails.
Gnarliest and most beautiful landscape i have ever seen. Reminds me a lot of my time in Basque Country shredding. Great Video! Intense lines the entire way! Cheers!
Living in CO, I live at 6200'. Last Summer I did a camp/ride in Leadville at 10k'. Lemongrass Tea is great alternative for altitude sickness. Make it cold or hot, but if you are hydrating properly, you can ward off altitude sickness. But adding lemongrass to your water bottle in a tea ball for a ride is a good way to go as well.
Just on the trainer to this video. It's just like coming off the back of Helvellyn, Lake District, UK and tje weather is the same lol. Keep peddling and thanks Brian
Yep, been watching this video a few times a week on my projector while riding my indoor trainer trying to get through this Iowa winter....oh wait winter hasn't officially begun . Oh... .. .. .. Fuuuuudge.
Amazing video! My version of adventure is quite a bit tamer! Thanks also for explaining why Sarah isn't on this trip -- appreciate the honesty. From another Raspberry Salt fan.
There seems to be an mtb variant (or possibly a Peruvian mtb variant) of Sod's Law: the scariest creatures hassle you on some of the most technical parts of the trail where you're going too slow to be able to escape them... 🙃
I relate to your comments about riding with your wife. I don’t doubt my partner’s ability to ride technical terrain yet I’m alway feeling a responsibility for her as I’ve picked the route and it ends up with me worrying unnecessarily, over advising till she gets annoyed. I listen back to footage I take and cringe at just how much I’m directing her😂. Luckily i don’t ever post any online.
Great journey. Not a fan of the clutch on AXS derailleur... especially on backcountry rides. I stick w XT or XTR bc they still have the best clutches out there. I never drop a chain. Endo turns on those switchbacks make all the difference on that last section.

These Peru trip videos are the best you've done to date, and that's a very high bar. Great job!

Yeah, a little more than a little hair-raising. 😬
:) dogs just do their own things in many places in Peru, not just Cusco :) But, actually they do follow human orders when requested.
15,000ft. Amazing dealing with wind, hail, cold, new wet rocky cliff side trails, lack of O2, headaches... and you can still narrate your rides like a pro.!
I very much enjoy this new "documentary" style format than the usual POV only. Hopefully, you do more of these.
Actually lots of stuff he did before covid was just like this one.

That’s definitely an adventure! Moving cattle off the trail, and some steep rock sections.
