    NL you're getting better and realizing that you have to proactively make winning plays. Keep it up that win will come soon. Only advice is try to figure out what your deck wants to do early on and go with it. A rampage deck wants to be thin and have a bunch of draw/big defense cards like Flame barrier to bide time until rampage is back around, a demon form deck wants lots of multi attacks and so on. Whirlwind is an agnostically good card as you'd call it and the value of upgrading it is multiplied by however much energy you have. At just 3 energy upgrading it adds bare minimum 9 damage, at 4 its 12 and so on.

It's like, Egg, I have it in good confidence you can play this game well. @@iami3rian394 Global achievements stats on steam put beating A20 at 2.4% of the playerbase, or 3.6% of players who have beaten a 3rd act boss. NL has done it twice off camera. In no world is top 3.6% of anything bad.
      Yes, it is incredibly easy to point out mistakes. No, that doesn't make you a better player for it, or even a better person. Constructive feedback is made for the purpose of helping someone/something else. Destructive feedback is made for the purpose of elevating yourself.
      Yes NL makes plenty of mistakes, and he is by no means the best sts player out there. That being said, acting like he's bad at the game is disingenuous at best and malicious at worst.
      I'd also add that he did a pretty damn good job with his recent silent run. His inconsistency is apparent the further he gets into a recording session. He'd win more frequently if he was only playing off camera. Diverting mental energy to being entertaining is a pretty significant factor.

    • @EvanWantsSoup
      @EvanWantsSoup 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I mean, upgrading demon form isnt bad but I actually agree with NL here.
      Upgrading demon form gives him 1 extra strength per turn. That's cool, but he doesnt need it. He has limit break to start busting his scaling after he activates demon form, so that +1 energy isnt necessary
      Meanwhile, the biggest issue with demon form is its heavy cost, and cards like offering and bloodletting help him build up extra energy to simultaneously play demon form and defend himself on the same turn. Especially when you consider that he had centennial puzzle as well, which helps him draw into demon form off of either of those cards, I think that focusing on the energy is a good play. Even if he doesnt draw into demon form with centennial puzzle, it still synergizes really well with bloodletting

  • @iami3rian394
    @iami3rian394 5 ปีที่แล้ว +20

    18:28 it takes you a full TWENTY SECONDS to "rationalize" the obvious correct play, simply because it's defensive.
    Then, you feel the need to continue to justify it. It was the RIGHT PLAY, my dude. We all knew it instantly from looking at the turn.
    Why do you STILL hate blocking attacks so much?
    Passing on upgraded metallicize in a four energy deck with not a lot of defense was the WRONG CALL, btw.
    EDIT: At least you realize later that you need block. A good ten minutes late, but better late than never.

    • @TheeOptionalGuy

      Then, even when he draws them in big attack turns he has to struggle to play the cards, and even worse he's embarrassed by it or "hates it." Everyone else LOVES full blocking big attacks.

    "We need defense".
    Skips every defense.
    NL, you lose track of what you want too fast!
    You should start writing post-it notes just to remind yourself of things like that.
    This was a good run you squandered solely because you thought you still needed even more energy.
    You got a shit ton of energy this run. What you need is not energy. You need to remove your strikes so your good cards come faster and you'll play them more often!!
    You think you need more energy because you want to play all the strikes, defends AND have energy for your good cards! And that's when you by chance got enough draw to sustain it!
    4 Energy is plenty if you got good cards and your deck is not filled with junk forcing you to shuffle it arround lots to find your cards.

    I'm loving this series, but I'm not sure he'll ever win. Maybe it doesn't matter.
    A20 is about playing as perfectly as possible, and then maybe you don't lose. Those were two really promising decks, that maybe wouldn't have have lost - but they'll never win with that level of misplay, and I'm not even talking about the accidental click.

      @@iami3rian394 Still playing a daily now and again, would prob not change much of his schedule. I my self don't really care about A20, I just like slay the spire with NL in general. If he mabye found a daily to his liking, it would be fun to see. Hitting the same grind over and over again can be borring, and a bored youtuber is not fun too watch. But what do i know, he never seems really bored of it tho.

      @@TheDrunkyDwarf exactly. He also plays off camera on the switch. The cycle of 3 A20's (usually) then a daily just sucks though. Look back at his dailies, they lose views (and I'd bet retention takes a HUGE dive once people realize it's a daily) and there's a surge of dislikes.
      Every now and then would be fine, but only getting three watchable runs in between kinda sucks.
