    Yesterday my neighbour committed suicide, she was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis. She was struggling for 4 years. And finally she gave up the battle she was fighting with the disease. In India there was nothing that can be done.. Now a beautiful girl ended her life.

      She must have been in agony, and suffering for four years, poor girl. I couldn't imagine having to live with it for that long with no help. It's ridiculous in this day and age that there are a vast number of people who cannot access or afford basic medical care.

      I completely understand opting out. It is extremely debilitating and excruciating. Iam in Australia and the doctors and specialists will not do anything to help me, it has nothing to do with not having access to medical services, just that they have no expertise to help and there is a 'live with It's attitude. I don't think the doctors here have any idea how painful and upsetting it is. It's the chance of if you live where they can/will intervene and help or not.

    • @ladytashmurray6075
      @ladytashmurray6075 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @KTMD there have been no changes since I posted 2 months ago. I would amputate a leg if it would make life just a smidge better. Perhaps the surgeon's and specialists can't be bothered. But I'm definitely up in the worst quality of life department. And all they do is tell me to meditate... cause they spend years at university learning to prescribe meditation. No offence, but what you read about and what's actually being done are two completely different things. Hop on over to the Chronic pancreatitis and sphincter of oddi dysfunction australia group. And you will be depressed within an hour from reading of the suffering and lack of assistance and even abuse towards us. I have experienced abuse from medical professionals the whole way through. I can not even get a biopsy of my pancreas. Booked in for one. But surgeon changed his mind while I was unconscious on the table and just did a u/s instead.

    • @ladytashmurray6075
      @ladytashmurray6075 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @KTMD I have never been over weight let alone obese, I don't have diabetes yet... I say yet because if you know about chronic pancreatitis you know that the constant malfunctioning will sooner or later cause diabeties and pancreatitis cancer. No smoking no drugs no alcohol, not even when I was younger. And its a highly offensive to ask. I get asked those questions all the time. For one, it's disgusting that there is discrimination to people who were over weight or occasionally drank. They do not deserve the suffering inflicted by this illness. I have had so much trouble getting diagnosed because I refused to admit to drinking. Because I never did. But, if I said to them (doctors) that I was an alcoholic, perhaps they would have diagnosed me sooner. But I'm not going to say that when it's not true. There is an abundance of discrimination from doctors and nurses. One time, I was visiting my husband in hospital and I collapsed in the emergency bay. An ambo put me in a wheel chair and wheeled me into the er. The triage nurse said what's your problem. I was crying because I was distressed from collapsing. I said I collapsed in the emergency bay. He said what where you doing there. I said to visit my husband. I have chronic pancreatitis. He said we can't help with chronic and walked away. Left me there. I have no problem with you asking questions. I appreciate your interest. I'm just saying it's terrible how we are treated with this illness. I believe but can not prove that mypancreatitis was caused from the injections I had to be given to enter into university to do my registered nurse degree. All the ones you give to children. Your forced to 're vaccinate to enter the medical profession. Free health care is there and available. I had insurance and paid for private specialists in the beginning. $100- $200 to be told to eat fruit and veg. So not better assistance if you pay for it. In my experience.

    I have never had a pancreatitis problem until last June. i woke up one morning and had diarrhea every time I ate anything. After 7 days of that I saw a doctor. They did a stool test and found I had EPI. Put me on Creon 36000. I continued to lose weight until I had lost 25 pounds. They did a CT SCAN and I have some small scattered calcifications. The doctor said I had chronic pancreatitis and would have to take the Creon forever. Never heard of this operation but at age 85 not sure it would work for me. Just have to keep on keeping on and enjoy the time I have left.

    5 years ago I had a debilitating case (when isn't it?) of pancreatitis. I thought I had the stomach flu until I doofed at my friends house. Got the most agonising pain I have ever had. I couldn't stand up or even hold my head up. Went to the emergency room. Got diagnosed with quite the severe case. Hydration was cut off from my kidneys so my urine looked like pumpkin pie. Lipase was over 2300 and Pancreas was eating itself because the bile duct was blocked. Had to wait a week to get my gallbladder removed. Had it again a couple of years later but minor especially considering the first case. And now today finding out that I have Chronic Pancreatitis with the calcium deposit things, the word escapes me. Seeing this gives me some hope

      Delon Duvenage let me ask you some more questions in a week or so. I went to ER with bad stomach ache. Dr said my lipase level was 600 indicating pancreatitis. He didn’t say anything about amalyase level. Pain went away in a couple of hours. My regular Dr. Ordered an ultrasound for this week. He said most likely I have gallstones or sludge buildup. So I will see if that’s the case. I will need to research ways to decrease stones or sludge naturally rather than remove gallbladder. Read a lot of complications with that. My Dr said he doesn’t know of a way to naturally remove them.

    I've had chronic pancreatitis for 23 years, I had my first episode at 13 and spent 6 months hospitalized, since then I have 4 or more attacks per year and after much suffering, chronic pain, plus deteriorating mental health, my gastro finally agreed it's time for mine to come out. It's a shame, because my pancreatitis was autoimmune so had the tests existed when I was 13 or had a doctor done it years ago, my pancreas wouldn't be so scarred and it could have been saved and my quality of life wouldn't be this poor.

    I have autoimmune pancreatitis. I just got out of hospital today actually, after not having an attack in two years. This one was aggravated by steroids I had to take for a chest infection.
    The pain can be so intense and indescribable, but I have a good team of doctors who know my history, and don't assume I drink alcohol. Most people don't know how much of a vital function the pancreas performs, and that when you have an attack, it starts shutting down all of your other organs. My kidneys and lungs started to fail during a bad attack 3 years ago. I was so ill I had a nasogastric tube, a catheter and an IV in each arm. Wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

    I also have chronic pancreatitis but I also do not have a gallbladder and it's a bit complicated by pancreas divisum. Mine also onset after the birth of my 2nd set of twins. Right now, I am managing it with lots of medicine but I am aware of surgical options that might become necessary if my quality of life deteriorates further. It's a terrible thing to have, but it doesn't have to be the end of your life.

      I also suffer from chronic pancreatitis via pancreas divisum. Was diagnosed right after my 40th birthday. That was 6 years ago. I couldn't bear the thought of eating in the early days. The longest I went without eating was 10 days. I don't recommend it. Then I was so weak still trying to work and function normally. I had a great job that was stressful as hell on a slow day. I didn't know how stress affected the pancreas. Apparently tremendously! They wouldn't give me anything for pain. Finally tramadol, basically nothing. Then every 6 months i would go to the hospital day surgery and have my pancreas numbed and pumped full of steroids. It would be great for about 4 months, then wear off. Then before I knew it the intense pain returned with the nausea and extreme fatigue. Then I would go to the er and they would hook me up to a morphine drip for about 2 hours, write me a Rx and send me home. Time passed, I quit my job, moved to the country and live on a farm. Less stress. Haven't had to be numbed since I moved. The down side, my Obamacare went up so much, I lost my insurance. So, now I try to tough I out, eat right and pray a lot. I usually don't comment but, I only know of one other person that suffers from pancreas divisum.

      @@angiebrown4211 if you have divisum there is restructuring surgery. People with divisum have defects from two fetal pancreas failing to fuse into one; mine has a smaller than usual entry to pancreas that is located higher up the biliary tree, and a larger than normal exit. Divisum in & of itself isn't a problem as 1 in 10 people have it & 95% never know they have it. It depends on how the deformation impacts you. Additionally, they can attempt to excise scarring. In order to be diagnosed w/chronic pancreatitis you need a 5/9 for scarring or a 4+ divisum. I am the latter. Also, and most extremely, you can have the pancreas removed & islet cells put into the liver. The 1st 2 are the least Ricky & last I checked several yrs ago it was an equal chance to cure the patient, kill the patient, or leave you the same. The last has a low survival rate but if your quality of life is bad enough...and I have talked w/someone who had that surgery successfully. Sadly chronic pancreatitis is degenerative; 10 good years (ish) then things start going awry. I'm at max Creon, pain med free for now. But I develop malabsorption this year. It's been 8years of symptoms, 4 since diagnosis for me.

There is no time without pain and they get worse after eating. I did a CT and an MRI and the pancreas was perfect on them. Could it still be chronic pancreatitis? @@GeorgeHarrison-ts7yc What I noticed is that I may have chronic pancreatitis but the pain could be due to the bad effects of the fibrate (for very high triglycerides) on the pancreas. If you have chronic pancreatitis you shouldn't take fibrates, but I did. After stopping the drug after a few months, I have a small percentage of the previous pain. If it helps anyone, my high triglycerides, even above 1000, were caused by unsuccessful attempts to go keto. It's probably blocked by parasites. A large caloric surplus and a lot of fat caused such results. Maybe is your case too.

    My dad just died of Chronic Pancreatitis, at the age of 62.
    He had the disease for about 10 years, during the later stages of his illness, the pseudocysts started growing very large, and had to be repeatedly drained by surgery.
    Morphological changes started occurring, completely obstructing passage to the duodenum, meaning his stomach would just overflow, until he would puke. This put so much strain on his stomach that he sustained a chronic open wound in his stomach, always with bloodied black/red puke, this condition would never get better.
    This is referred to as obstructive chronic pancreatitis.
    He had to be fed by tubes in the end, directly into his veins, his entire digestive system was not functioning, he could not eat himself or drink in any way.
    BMI of 12, extreme malnourishment.
    He would puke chronically everyday, lost all his teeth, had severe pain everyday during his illness, was treated with daily high doses of Oxycodone.
    In the end 2022 16th of February, I was called by the nurses that daily helped him in his home, he was found dead on the floor with bloodied puke everywhere.

    My doctor says my chronic pancreatitis is 'incomplete', he could not confirm what actually caused it. I do not suffer from any noticeable pain, mostly just unintended weight loss. I used to suffer from diarrhea, however since being prescribed digestive enzymes the the stool began to solidify but it still floats however. The weight loss still persists and it is becoming more noticeable over time. Generally I suffer from fatigue, I'm developing a pattern of forgetfulness amongst other symptoms. The fear of permanent damage due to malnutrition for example, is a major concern. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    In 2020 dec 27ish I collapsed on my flat lawn. I rang hospital and was admitted early. On my 4th or 5th night there, I overheard a first year doc saying I was either drug seeking or delirious. That night a specialist came in due to my high increase in temp, low blood low ox. He said and I quote " ,oh shit". He immediately put an iv in my jugular and I was on a plane within an hour. Two and half months in hospital followed by 10 months rehab. Nil by mouth, oxy, constant ketamine and morphine, all because a young doc thought I was seeking drugs. I had a surgery in hos where my left lung had collapsed and they took 16 litres of fluid out of my chest cavity. No joke, pancreatitis is the most pain a man can feel compared to childbirth.

    Anyone else here with chronic pancreatitis and get upset when they ask you to use a pain scale?
    It's like being stabbed with a knife over and over never stopping.
    Like 1 to 10 with awesome faces. Had no real definition of pain. Then they want you to describe it.
    When I go to the hospital ER: 'what's your pain?' 'there isn't a chart that describes it!'
    'well can you describe how it feels?' 'why yes, feels like a knife going through from the front through the back and repeating nonstop!'
    Then they just stare at you like you are crazy...
    I've become so tolerant from the pain that I don't feel anything at all. I've had nurses and doctors digging to find veins and say 'wow most people would be screaming in pain right now' and I'm just sitting there not even realizing they had even started the iv digging yet.

      @@BeauBassfaceBowie I'm with you on the hospital stays, it sucks so much. Lots of university hospitals, and some that aren't, will do the surgeries without insurance, it's an uphill battle though, need to find a gastrologist doctor that will see you.
      I've been getting the Celiac block now for about 2 years. Can only get it every 3 months and only lasts for me about 1.5 months.
      I have accrued the massive debt and got to my credit from it. It sucks. When I first got sick I lost my job and all income so we lost our house. It's so horrible to have to have your family move into your parents and you not being home 9 months or of the 12 negate being in the hospital.
      Just was trying to say you aren't alone out there.
