I love the sound of Crystal bowls. But I realised that when doing the circling/ violin stroke, there are some sound ( like the mallet and the bowls contacting sound ) is quite distracting. And your suggestion is to use the pvc surface to play is avoiding that distracting sound right ?
I watched few videos of someone playing crystal bowls, and I still heard that distracting sound before the vibration. So I’m just wondering if that’s can’t avoid ?? 🙏🏻

Yes, for the mallets that have the suede and the exposed PVC edge we recommend the edge for limited additional sound.
We made this video some time ago and there are now silicone mallets that eliminate almost all additional sound and are great for circling the rim of the bowl.
In general though there will be a small amount of sound from the mallet as it circles the bowl to create the friction and allow the bowl to sing.

this was really good... eventually I would like to have crystal singing bowls... I have several questions [1] I only know of the bowls as crystal singing bowls. yours are called Alchemy--- is this a branding or style that you have coined... [2] i know there are Tibetan Bowls but I like the look and resonate with the Crystal-type... is there any main difference other than one is metal and the other mineral...[3] alchemy name or crystal name are your bowls in the key of C or A as that is some of what my research lead me to a site that had 1 to 7 charkra bowls in those keys. [4] are the varying sizes synonymous = represent a certain key and sound of our scale.... [5]are there other bowls that represent the diaphragm, thymus, pineal, well of souls and the right and left hemisphere of our brains [6] do you use crystal wind chimes as well to complement for intention of healing as well.... might you share your thoughts and is there any crystal bowl healings that are considered NOT the way to conduct a healing session with them THANKS SO MUCH... I lived in Sedona for about 2.5 years. was long ago...I love AZ but I am not here currently

Of course :) The main consideration is that you and your bowl have an arrangement that feels balanced and happy. We have kitties so we have to be mindful of keeping them out. If we did not have pets I imagine they would be displayed all over the house instead of in their sacred rooms :)

Hi. I seem to get a sound quite quickly using your method of suede striker pointed away from bowl and touching bowl with just the exposed end. However it's making a line impression around my bowls. Does this ever happen with your bowls? I'm not sure if Im damaging it so I stopped. But now I'm playing the rim which apparently is discouraged :(.

Thank you for checking in. What kind of bowl do you have? When you say "line impression" do you mean it is leaving a mark from the rubber portion of the mallet on your bowl?
It is always fine to play the rim of the bowl, especially if that feels best to you :) For me the sound of the suede mallet on the bowls can become a bit distracting which is why we encourage playing off of the rim a bit. Once we started working with the silicone mallets our playing technique has changed a bit.
When playing I feel that it is most important to listen to your bowl and intuit how to play, which may mean a variety of techniques :)

I have Platinum Rin and other clear bowls.
I don't think it's rubber being put on the rim, rather the surface being affected. I'm not totally sure.
I'll just play the rim. :) Would silicone get a sound easier than suede? (Does it have more friction?) Some of my rims are smooth so it takes a bit to get a sound on the small ones.
Do you sell mallets in your shop? I didn't see it listed.
