Hi,I am a master student using ANSYS maxwell a lot during my work. Based on my experience it is normal to take several hours to finish a simulation. The time is highly depended on how much precise of your simulation so if you want to increase the speed you can use larger mesh grid in your simulation. As well the accuracy would be reduced. Thus a trade-off should be made between the accuracy and the speed. I usually use maxwell to evaluate my design for planar transformers thus I selected the mesh grid based on frequency, considering skin and proximity effect. Hope my comment is useful for you and we can have further communication if you want.

I had the same problem. To solve it go to your Maxwell project and inside the "Excitation" tab right click over one of your defined windings (in this videos the windings are called Rx and Tx) and select the option "Properties". A new window will be displayed and Inside the "Parameters" you have one option called "Type". Select the option "External" inside this box. Repeat the same process for all your defined windings. Then repeat as shown in the video to import it to simplorer. I Hope this helps.

Dear Kamyar, I designed a single-phase transformer in maxwell2d and imported it into simplorer. Source voltage (connected to primary) in simplorer has a pi/2 (90 degree) phase, so i expected that inrush current would not occur. But it occurs whatever i do. However, in maxwell2d, inrush current does not occur if the phase is pi/2. I cannot figure out what to do, do you have any idea? What should I do to avoid inrush current in simplorer? The output of the inverter is High freq1 MHz current, I connected to the along the circuit instead of the Voltage source, but I'm not getting any proper outputs for the power efficiency. Is there a reason behind that? One more thing how could generate A PWM output to driver a power MOSFET any idea? I just copied one the block designed for an example. MoeAzizBadawi hi, Make sure that the inverter can support tgr current that is required by your sub circuit terminals. If you are making a resonator and its a series resonator at the frequency of resonance you have short circuit. That can cause problem. There is pulse source that you can easily use it as pwm. If I understood your question rightly. Do you mean how you can do it in simulator not real life right? In real life you can use a bjt to drive the pwm pulse coming out of the micro. Or simply by a driver and use that to buffer the gate of power MOSFET.

However, when I try to import the Maxwell design into Simplorer, it doesn't have ports for connection. I have tried changing various settings and configurations but nothing is helping. When I import from Maxwell, I get a box in Simplorer with no ports for connection so cant proceed from there. Any help form your would be highly appreciated!
I looked at all of your previous comments and found the answer in one of them. The terminals appeared when I set the winding as external instead of current (right click on winding, go to properties and select external in the type). Thanks a lot!

But I have seen many places that people attach a resistance and an inductance in series with each phase of the machine. Why is this resistance and inductance needed? Is this the resistance and inductance of machine windings itself or what else? Because I am not using any resistance and inductance in my circuit and this may affect the system analysis
Hi , In the upcoming tutorial that I am uploading I will go over this in detail. But generally those are the parasitic inductors that you may have and the winding resistance. In the maxwell the winding resistance is not being calculated unless you provide it. does it answer your question?

Simulation completed with execution error on server. An external simulator couldn't be setup for simulation. If you don't mind, could you please have a look to these error. +Srijan Datta this happens when you have nested capacitors without initial values. Remove unnecessary caps and put a cap very small with initial voltage on floating nodes. That should help you to do the sim.

You can use parameters in Maxwell and according to results of simplorer update the parameters and re-run in simplorer.

Simplorer is system-level simulator. you need to get back to Maxwell environment to visualize the fields

I think you can by calculating the impedance and work it out. but better than that use Q3D or HFSS to export S parameter or RLC values

Check your Mesh for sure. Transient simulation only uses the initial meshing.
Chapter 4 is all about transient simulation. You can also find the playlist for transient simulations. Is that what you asked ?

make sure you are making windings and assigning the excitations to the windings and MAKE SURE IN WINDINGS PROPERTY YOU ARE SELECTING EXTERNAL SOURCE FOR THE EXCITATION. if you dont set the external it would not give pins.

What may be the reason for these ?

+Srijan Datta this happens when you have nested capacitors without initial values. Remove unnecessary caps and put a cap very small with initial voltage on floating nodes. That should help you to do the sim.

+Renata Rezende Reis in simplorer you don't import a step file. In maxwell you import the step file and in the simplorer you import the maxwell setup file.

Mr Kamyar, When I'm trying to add the maxwell sub circuit to the simplorer circuit it doesn't generate details and cannot add the sub circuit saying that "You must select a design". Can you please point out me the thing that I'm doing wrong?...
