I'm watching ' Wide Open Town 1941' a Hopalong Cassidy film that shows a robbery at this same station you can see the water tower in the distance in the movie as well. Great to see this old relic come alive again. Thanks for the video.
I wish she could have stayed in Colorado in Durango. We all love watching her run. They even fixed the broken cylinder. Thanks we enjoyed having her here in Colorado. 🇺🇸👏
As cool as that would be, SP 18 belongs in her homeland, with her sisters on her native territory... Taking her away from Owens to the foreign land of Colorado would be a bit like the CSRM taking one of D&S's K-28s

As much as I love seeing SP 18 in home territory, there really isn't much left for her to run on, D&S allowed her a chance to stretch her legs and operate as a road engine again. It'd be a shame not to give her that opportunity again.
That would be great. I've walked a bit of that right of way, theres really nothing but desert between laws and Owens Lake I believe, as it never went through any of the towns. All the way to Owens lake and a wye at the Southern terminus would be spectacular
I wonder if the Laws museum will keep the 18 there permanently. Personally I would like to see her run on like the Sumpter Valley Railroad, it's no where near where 18 ran but it's a much more substantial run.
I Google earth this and don't see a connection to anywhere. Looks like laws museum is the north end and the track only goes like half mile south. If you're good at Google maps, you can follow the right of way all the way to the big yard in Johannesburg. Was laws the very north end of this line?

Adam they will not as she is not owned by them, as much as I wish she would. She lives in Independence, CA.
#18 will always call Independence home, but she'll likely visit Laws again in the future.

Well the great western steam up event happened like a month ago, and 18 was brought there. Idk if you heard about it and attended the event.
This engine is awesome. Too bad it blew a cylinder head on the way to Silverton...
