Like scary career ending stuff. And when it injuries do occur, which is super rare, it is hands/wrists the vast majority of the time. As a Braves fan, this one is a little tough. While yes I do think it matters that it was Acuna because for whatever reason the Marlins just love plunking him on the first pitch of the game. However, this one doesn't look intentional and Mattingly is right the beef with these two teams was essentially over and one bad pitch sparked it right back up and the Umps making it something it wasn't isn't going to help, especially since it does appear that they only tossed Lopez due to Snit asking them to and it was clear Lopez didn't mean to. However, Mattingly should know that pitchers can be ejected without warnings if the Ump suspects that the batter was hit intentionally, it's just rare that it happens.

People are always so impressed by his lip reading. I’m not saying I could do better, but I think most of us innately can do the same thing. It’s part of conversing.
Is there something I’m missing that makes this harder than it seems?

In this situation the reliever gets all the time he wants to warm up, same as if the pitcher got injured and couldn't continue.
No.. when a pitcher has to leave the gm for any reason his replacement is given as much time as they need to warm up..
Thanks for making these videos they're really cool breaking them down, I find this is a fascinating part of baseball, we'll never know if the purposeful tactics of hitting someone on purpose but, you need to warn them first you can't just eject them it's crazy

Yep pretty crap in any sport when the coaches start making the calls for the refs. As far as I can tell baseball refs literally never change their decisions, even when they are flat out wrong! Except now it seems they do and they are still flat out wrong!
I don’t think it was the opposing coach’s decision, the umps just hadn’t talked it over and actually thought about it and decided. Coach comes out and lays out his argument that he’s got hit every game, umps talk it over and decide that he’s right and throw him out

As a Braves fan, this one is a little tough. While yes I do think it matters that it was Acuna because for whatever reason the Marlins just love plunking him on the first pitch of the game. However, this one doesn't look intentional and Mattingly is right the beef with these two teams was essentially over and one bad pitch sparked it right back up and the Umps making it something it wasn't isn't going to help, especially since it does appear that they only tossed Lopez due to Snit asking them to and it was clear Lopez didn't mean to. However, Mattingly should know that pitchers can be ejected without warnings if the Ump suspects that the batter was hit intentionally, it's just rare that it happens.

That's the same umpire during the Bautista and Odor fight. He is terrible at situation handling! So he ejects a pitcher here for doing this yet Matt Bush, a former criminal, hit Bautista obviously on purpose in 2016 and he just warned the man instead of the called for ejection. This umpire is inconsistent, absolute joke!
I may be biased here because I’m a rangers fan, but why bring up former criminal? He did his time paid for his crime, at that moment he was just an mlb pitcher who got told to hit a guy and he did it, not the first person ever to do that so not sure how former criminal applies here exactly.
