      @@FruitTree ok. You can buy two lil pups. And train them and socialize with them first. They will get used to it. I've a farm with chickens, goose and goats. Adult goats are not the problem but there are baby goats, chick and geese too. There are foxes and wild cats here and also human thieves. I have two kangals and a great Pyrenees. It's a little difficult in the beginning. But they are now well trained and very professional in their duty.

    How much property do you have them on? Are you planning on keeping the males and females together all the time? From what I’ve learned it is recommended to keep them separate or the males will breed the females all the time.

    • @FruitTree
      @FruitTree  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      We have them on about 2 acres. The boys are separated now. The were kept together until the males got bigger.

    I want to get me a alpaca as a pet. A small 1. What you think? And can it live in house also? And is a half acres enough room for 1?
    Thanks

    • @FruitTree
      @FruitTree  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      House is a big no. They will be scared and make a huge mess.
      They really should be with a friend. They are a herd animal.
      1/2 should be fine for 2

      @FruitTree I heard they can be a indoor outdoor pet. I will not get one then. Thanks for info

  • @ToddDolce

    I know that these animals were all the rage for a while but have gone out of favor by many in recent years. Is it because they bite? Or do people just get in over their heads like with a lot of these things! How much land would one need to raise a few and have you found the food and vet costs to be crazy?

    • @FruitTree
      @FruitTree  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We have not had or heard of biting. I think people may get over their heads a bit. Shearing is hard and the monthly shots can be difficult.
      They really arnt that hard.

      @@FruitTree would love to see a video during a shearing with your Apalcas. It would be neat to see all facets of raising them.....from the not so fun behind the scenes stuff to the obvious fun stuff. You have peaked my interest with this animal.
