    So today I was informed by THE LOVELY FAMJAM of a comment section that BarkThins are not vegan-friendly (I assume their sugar is processed with bone char😕) I kind of view it like Oreos, which are in the same boat.🙇🏻‍♀️
    That level 10 vegan kinda stuff makes veganism seem inapproachable and too restrictive, and I think that while I would prefer those processed foods to be free of animals and by-products in the manufacturing process, I think you're still vegan if you eat it. It's a matter of doing what you can, enjoying life and showing people how you can easily live a vegan lifestyle.

    I don't think there is any problem with you making what I eat in a day no matter what is going on in your life. Period or not, stressed or calm. It just shows no one has a perfect day all the time. ❤️❤️❤️. Love all your videos, a lot of the times because you aren't afraid to be yourself and roll with the punches.

    Every period is different (not just food wise) for me so sometimes, I want to eat everything and other times, I can barely look at food. My period is so mysterious!

    I'm so glad you make videos like this! When I'm on my period, I have no appetite whatsoever, but I weirdly still have intense cravings. When I finally get to making or sitting down to eat the food, I just don't want any of it. So annoying! Anyway, I love your videos, Lisa, and I especially love how much you keep it real. :)

    Finally got to try your Dahl recipe and I'm now obsessed. I didn't have any chillies so I substituted it with red pepper flakes and it worked out. Love it.

    Smooth move making those DIY bark thins. I've thought of doing my own version of the Goodness Knows bars--it seems to be just a thin layer of chocolate with a bunch of chopped dried fruit, nuts and/or crisp rice cereal pressed into it, then chilled and cut into square. Would be so good with pepitas and other seeds.

    Everything looks so good! I lol when you said about the garlic press and having to clean it, I'm the same way and squeezing lemons use my hand no clean-up. 👍🏻💗

      I️ crush my garlic then peel it before I️ crush it. It makes it so much easier to clean, plus you get a better yield.

    You really have some good cooking techniques that are subtle but I noticed them. When you added the mushroom powder to the soup you put water in the spoon and stirred with the chopsticks. Also when you made the chocolate you didn't add the seeds to the whole lot, you did it with the bit at the end the the bowl. I am definitely going to do those. Thanks for more great cooking and meals and for just being Lisa

      Aw hahah I do have some good cooking techniques but those weren't really specific. I added half the chocolate to the baking sheet first because I knew the pumpkin seeds with make the bowl overflow ahaha. But stirring things like mushroom powder, curry paste, miso, or any sort of paste like that in a little bit of water first helps distribute it into the soup better so you don't just get one giant clump later on while you're eating :)

    Dahl is the thing I do when I don't want to cook for a week because I make a HUGE batch and just customize it as I go (with pepitas, tomatoes, spinach, cilantro or green peas) . It is soooooo good. Also you are scaring me with the barre workout because I am trying out my own barre classes on sunday .

      Daal is an Indian traditional meal and here we eat it everyday with rice for lunch. There are so many ways to cook daal using different kinds of lentils.

    Agreed, I can't eat much at all on my period, but when I do get the weird cravings it's usually a simultaneous popcorn & chocolate, salty/sweet orgasmic combo. Just got an IUD last Friday (no one emphasized how painful and traumatic that would be~but I'm also a baby) so it's cramp central down there...I read on nutritionfacts.org that fennel is supposed to help with menstrual cramps, bleeding, and PMS so if you're ever on the ~flow~ again, try a dal with fennel seeds, temper them with your other spices! I might try it tonight :)

    have you ever thought of making your own chocolate? when I have the time I make my own chocolate by melting coconut oil, then melting coconut sugar (or maple syrup), after stirring in 1/4 cup almond milk (another non-dairy, non-nut milk would probably work too), removing from the heat and adding cacao powder. It tastes really good! (make sure to whisk/stir continuously though).

      I did once upon a time, I really wanted to make white chocolate, I even bought cocoa butter for it but I made it once and it was kind of a huge fail. I might try again some other time haha.

      Romanian people are meat lovers, but we can make our dish vegan. Anyway...one of our national dishes is stuffed pickled cabbage rolls with rice, veggies and nuts and we serve it polenta, sour cream and pickled chilli :D

    When I get my period, my body really super craves food with iron in them, so one of my favorite meals to eat (when my body is down with eating 'cus that first day... not so much) is green peas mixed with mushed beans with a bit garlic salt AND if my body is really really REALLY craving iron, I chop up a tofu pup (vegan hot dog) in there and mix it all in. Very satisfying

    Kombucha car so much compared to my budget for food and beverages that I use it like a gut-shot and it does help with the probiotic that I take. If anyone out there fines that kombucha is out of their budget just take a shot once or twice a day along with your probiotic or any other fermented foods that you have.

    My period's a weird one! It really sneaks up on me (cause I'm terrible at predicting it mostly!!! :D) I notice that on the lead up to it I'm like a ravenous monster with insatiable hunger but then when I'm on, I can literally eat a tiny morsel and be like - good grief, no more please! My only craving is pasta bake (pretty much everyday though), a sad film and a pyjama and blanket week :)

    hi! I always get hormonal nausea but like the week before I start my period I'm ravenous all the time ;) I think the watermelon could have been what upset your stomach, watermelon digests VERY fast and if you have slow digesting food (like lentils!!) in your stomach in can upset the whole digestive process :) xo

    It's my period week too and I'm feeling even more lazy than usual. But oh man I'm totally getting some pumpkin seeds to make that bark. For more salt, try getting a course grain finishing salt for the top - sel Gris is great or I have some espresso sea salt I may try!

    I always crave chocolate when I'm on my period, but otherwise can't say I crave anything else, just eat a ton more than usual some months and like hardly nothing at all if it's summer time. Also greens, like kale and broccoli are consumed in like double the amount than normal prob... But that makes sense w iron loss and all...

    oh pms sucks for me, all I want is chocolate, protein, and all the Netflix. the days leading up i can't eat enough, the days on just bring me chocolate covered anything and don't talk to me lol.

    Loved the video! When I'm Pre-period I want to eat everything on earth and lots of it, but as soon as my period starts I don't really want much of anything for the first couple days. But mostly I just don't want to get up and cook, so maybe I'm more lazy than not hungry 😄 Lol

    There is quite a consensus amongst scientists that GMO foods often are productive for the economy by supporting farmers, are often equally as nutritious and help prevent wasting land or water within the rapidly expanding food production system.

      I like lazy tempered it haha, I only microwaved until they were like 80% melted and I just stirred them until they were totally melted, but maybe I'll make more of an effort next time XD

    I eat soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much before my period but during my period I don't really eat that much I guess! But I can't stand sweets like cookies or ice cream or chocolate when I'm on my period, just looking at those things makes me sick tbh hahaha

    I eat. A lot. I crave smth salty, then I got too much of that one then my body craves sweet, and then a bit of sour. I want it all. And after that in circle. I am not even joking.. I am on my period now, sooooooooooo off to get some chocolate brb :D

    same I want only specific foods,I get so bloated (it can even be me drinking water while on my period and more bloatness),gas,sleepy,emotional, back hurts,stomach cramping minimum not as much before,and randomly aroused but hey perks of being a girl right? rightttt💁😒😂 (I still get my period and symptoms even though I'm on the pill 💊 so) ughh we are so strong 🏆🏆!!!

    When I'm ovulating I would almost eat a toddler if it held too still. The first 2 days of actual period I don't really want food.

    I'm on my period too and I've been craving chips all day long 😩 also when it starts I can't really eat much so I just snack on cucumbers 🥒 and apples 🍎 😂💔

    I want to mention that barkThins are NOT vegan. According to their website:
    " ARE barkTHINS VEGAN?
    No. barkTHINS uses sugar that’s been through a non-vegan refining process."

      yeah girl, i know it sucks :( A lot of companies use bone char to bleach and filter cane sugar...

      that's pretty much the same deal with oreos. the ingredients are vegan, but the company says they aren't because of the type of sugar used. it really just depends how strict of a vegan you are. though i don't eat that chocolate often, i would probably still get them as the ingredients list is vegan and the bone char used in the sugar filtering process is merely a byproduct of animal agriculture, as is the manure used in organic farming. being vegan isn't about being perfect, especially about such minute details. if you want to, there's obviously nothing wrong with avoiding products like these, but there's nothing wrong (in my opinion) with consuming them either!

      I agree that we can choose how strict we personally want to be with our food choices but it's important to put the information out there for strict/ethical vegans, especially if the company claims they're not vegan. Processing with bone char is a bit removed from the main problem but I still refrain from products that use it. Same issue with vegans abstaining from beer that is filtered with animal products.

      Interesting! The week before my period I am a bottomless pit, and then when my period comes I don't really want to eat much.
