The bubbles come from air being trapped in their feathers. They simply open the feathers to release the air, and it helps to make them faster, by allowing them to move through a good deal of air (from the bubbles), and objects move faster through air than through water.
@@luudest Not really, because some air is always available to use that way, since they spend a lot of time out of water, anyways, before they ever go down. The bubbles help, but doesnt make a huge difference, also.
This is one of the coolest animal documentary I've seen in my life! Photographer's jacket looks like he's a penguin, they got used to havin' him around this is wonderful!
The penguin at 0:45 changed his direction suddenly as if he is playing pinball in real life but it water...😆😁 Also loved the sound of the penguin in the end as if saying "Thanks"...😄😁
You should read the article in the magazine. Anyway and to cut it short, when they're in open sea they go to the surface and make their feathers "fluffy" so the air gets trapped under them. Then, they dive towards the ice sheet covering the coast and locate the holes in the ice from behind. At that point, they "contract" or "unfluffy" their feathers, what presses the air out of them in small bubbles. That seems to work as a lubrifiant in the water, so they can reach very high speeds.
The bubbles are a result of the speed. When velocity exceeds the natural rate at which water can restitute, a void is created which in turn turns to bubbles.
sangat indah dan hebat. Kehidupan alam yang begitu eksotis. Hebat juga bagi pembuat filmnya, pekerjaan yang rumit dan berat, tapi menghasilkan sesuatu yang elok dan sempurna !
The first one though... The sound of him faceplanting onto the ice was brutal. I mean did he just misjudge it? Because he was literally the only one who entered the water like that.
I'd love to see a follow-up with how the penguins (and seals) are dealing with the missing ice shelves now. It would seem they will find a way, but...? Those new cliffs look pretty high. obviously, there are still lower areas, but have those been impacted I wonder?
The bubbles? I'll be careful, even though my problem is big, since I do not know the English language, I'm fixing with this translator Bing, who now works, is not be very good, but it is the only one that I have.Thank you for such wonderful images.
it's interesting the penguins didn't remain afraid, because there aren't many creatures that live down there, especially the size of humans. however, like penguins, humans walk on 2 legs and are very flat looking when standing up, so once they realized humans weren't killing them, they probably thought that we're "one of them".
Am I the only one that seen the flash? At 2:03, when the bird flies by, there is 2 other things there. I am sure the people taking the video would have edited it out. The one is really big, almost looks like it has a ring around it. And something even bigger to the left of the screen right after. It is really fast, and since it is in Antarctica it definitely is not bugs.
2:21 lol I love how he has a penguin guide next to him!
This would be a dream come true! I wish more people could admire all living animals like this, without harming them in any way.
Same.
Other birds: haha! U can’t even fly, penguin!
Penguin: I DO fly, idiots. Just not in the air.
u cAn oNlY fLy iN tHe aIr tHo
You can’t fly
The penguin used to fly but they got too heavy and they got used to the water then they fly any more
Water birds!
Haha nice one...🤣
Using torpedo tech before it was cool! Penguins are badass.
penguins are the greatest torpedo

Nature's own torpedoes right there
How does the air end up in their feathers?
@@luudest From when they are above the water, and when they fluff and ruffle their feathers, air gets trapped inside.
@@brentlionakaboldchamp thanks. so they first have to surface and dive down before they can reach such speeds and jump out of the water?
@@luudest Not really, because some air is always available to use that way, since they spend a lot of time out of water, anyways, before they ever go down. The bubbles help, but doesnt make a huge difference, also.
I love penguins. They are so adorable and cute.

It's awesome that they knew the humans were not a threat.
This should have millions of likes not some celebrity's picture😅

How do you describe the cry of a penguin? I can't think of anything to make a comparison. Awesome video - wish I could see that personally.
The bubbles? I'll be careful, even though my problem is big, since I do not know the English language, I'm fixing with this translator Bing, who now works, is not be very good, but it is the only one that I have.Thank you for such wonderful images.

This is amazing!
that is SO SICK!!!!1
What a cool video!
penguins can legally get human marriages.
It blows my mind that these things can dive over 500 meters.
brilliant thesis doctor when are you publishing?

羽毛と皮下脂肪の間に断熱目的の空気層がある、潜水時の高圧で空気が皮下脂肪に溶けるのでは??
浮上時はその逆で皮下脂肪から炭酸水の様に空気が溢れ出すのでは??
this is so amazing .
what a fascinating video
i love them in fact in elementary my friends said i had a walk like a penguin whick became my nick name till high sdhool 🤣
I guess some dinosaurs DID learn how to survive the cold ;)
any further explanation on the bubbles? how do the penguins acquire them? how can they control when they release them?
someone said they fluff their feathers to release them to go faster
Empoleon approves!! 👌
