I like taking the deck off when time allows because I can inspect it better off the mower spindles etc and also scrape it clean, but when time doesn't allow I just jack it up and use a impact. Good video Vinnie💯👍🏾

Yeah I personally don’t have a lift for a lawn mower and don’t feel safe laying under it either. Removing the mower deck is just so easy and way safer. It’s also easier to clean everything out with it off.

My 70 year old body is not fond of getting up and down on the garage floor, not to mention how much easier it is to operate a socket wrench that you're looking at straight on while seated on an inverted five gallon bucket. Thanks, and I’m not 100% sure but if I had to guess, maybe 3/4in? Also if you need to quickly know the exact size of the hole, you can stop by Homedepot or Lowes or any locals store that sells mower blades, and walk in and measure it with a tape measure right on the shelf.
I would just try to tighten the mower blade nut pretty tight with a breaker bar and socket, and if you can’t get enough torque on the nut using your breaker bar, then you can slide a pipe onto it to get more leverage.

Would it matter whether I went with Toro 79016P or 115-5059-03. Thanks!
So I checked on Toro’s website and im seeing 79016P, but then when I check around for other replacement blades, I see some websites list both numbers. They look identical and I bet they are the exact same but some distributors may use a different part number to reference. I think you will be fine going with either, just compare them side by side when you take your old blades off to double chick the size is correct.

I got exactly the same machine as you, last time I used it was on my second property which is about 41/2 hours away, noticed blades where doll and I took them off for sharpening, but had no torque wrench to be precise so I just used my impact gun to roughly come under 80 lbs, problem was that they might have been too tight and blades were not spinning… I understand the importance of torquing, but at the time as was stranded.. is torque that important that if is not within tolerance if would cause this issue?
That’s a really good question, it could have to do with being torqued too tight but also you may want to check your belts to ensure they are attached correctly, and that the spindle assembly your belt attaches to can spin freely by hand. If all 3 of the spindle assembly’s won’t spin by hand then just use your impact gun to remove the blade nut and then try to spin by hand and see if that was the issue.

If you have the belt back on and try to spin the blades it may not spin as freely because the belt is on the spindle assembly pulley (which is what the blade is attached to). But as long as you think you torqued the blades enough then it should be fine. Torquing the blades down to the spindle assembly will just ensure it doesn’t come loose while your cutting the grass. The spindle assembly is what holds the blades, and then belt goes onto the spindle assembly to spin the blade. I hope this all makes sense and helps.
What happens if you overtorque the bolts? I changed my blades yesterday. Immediately upon start up and engaging PTO, I got a loud squeal and burning rubber. Everything worked perfectly up until the blade change. I did the change on a mower lift so did not moved the belt. Wondering if over tightening the bolts would cause this. Thanks.

If you can raise the mower up, take the belt off and spin each blade by hand, that will give you a great place to start diagnosing. Also each blade spins at the same time because its belt driven, but each blade is mounted independently, each having its own Spindle Assembly. So the blades can be in any direction, and it should always cut the same.
Sorry no need to remove deck to change blades just left the front of the deck using your yellow jack you used for the oil change. Lot faster and less work.
Yes there are many ways to do it, that would work. I just personally prefer to take it off and work on it on the ground where it will be easier to take the blades off and torque the new ones on. It’s all preference.
@@RobertFaron I’ve done it with a car Jack, but I would assume you could use car ramps as long as you can safely get it up and down the ramps. It will for sure be a lot harder working upside down though.

I got a dog leash cable tangled underneath two blades. Took off tangled leash put blades back on but dies out when I pull up mower pull on switch ? Acting like it’s still tangled? Do you think it possible I put blades upside down and when tightened it locks blades ?
torque wrenches are massive socket wrenches that have a selection dial on them to choose the exact amount of torque you need. it won't keep torquing once you hit the limit you've set on the wrench. i don't have one and just torque to very tight, almost as tight as i can possible tighten, but not quite as tight as possible. this makes it very hard to remove, which is the idea, but not impossible to remove. this is not advice. :)
You can remove the blades if you can drive the mower up on ramps or Jack it up, you won’t have to fully remove the deck. But I’m assuming most people don’t have all of that so it’s easier to remove the deck so you can also inspect everything.

Only click the torque wrench ONE (1) time. Any more than that OVERTIGHTENS the bolt.

No you do not need to, but unless you have a lawn mower lift, it is a lot easier to change the blades with the deck off.

You need to use a torque wrench.

You can usually borrow a torque wrench at any auto parts store.
Tell them you need 65ft/pounds and they will set it for you.

You did mean mower deck belt and not drive belt?
Yeah I mean there’s only one belt on this mower, it connects to all the blade pulleys and then to the engine.
