I just bought the Uni-Fit version of the Chill Premiere. Replaced my original to my condo 1987 Kenmore wall unit. Doubt the new Friedrich will last 36 years but lol. This video helped a lot! Was nice to listen to how it sounds. Thanks!
@@arcticarrowhvacr Good to know! Yeah I was trying to figure out how it drained then realized that new units don’t drain anymore lol. It uses a slinger ring I assume, Though the installation instructions did say to tilt it back, which I did.
@@oreotcat It’s planned obsolescence. I highly recommend drilling one. Units are no less efficient with one. Manufacturers have to build them to run in dry climates anyway, I’d take a drill and a step bit so you don’t hit a refrigerant line and do that
@@arcticarrowhvacr how long do they last on average then, I bought a 5k to replace a POS Haier that replaced a 1999 Whirlpool, all 5k, and is there a longer lasting brand out there I should look for after this Friedrich
@@vacexpert2020 I have a Frigidaire 8k btu with a gmcc compressor. Its 10 years old and has never given me any issues. However, if you can, try to avoid the gmcc compressor. Its not exactly worse in terms of longevity in my experience, but MOST gmcc compressors have this distinct high-pitched noise. Rechi precision compressors are definitely quieter than gmcc but if the noise doesnt matter then theyre both the same.

Of course! No problem. If you maintain it and put a drain hole in it, the unit should hold up decently well.

Almost a year into owning my Chill Premier, its the older R-410a variant, 5k btus, quiet enough and I like that you can turn the display off
how is the chill premier holding up
What compressors do the Chill Premier units use?
8ks use rechi precision all others are strictly GMCC
@@arcticarrowhvacr which compressor is better, if there is a noticeable difference
