  • Chip's Run is an intermediate ski trail located at Snowbird. The trail runs from the summit of Hidden Peak down to the Snowbird Center base area. The run begins straight underneath the top of the Aerial Tram. The trail eventually takes a sharp turn to the right and traverses across the mountain. At a three-way intersection, the trail makes a U-turn to the left entering multiple switchbacks as it gently makes its way down to the top of the Peruvian chairlift. The trail crosses underneath the chairlift before entering into some more switchbacks, then entering an open bowl. Here, the trail stays to the right and enters into its first short but steep drop. The trail then traverses once again before entering a couple of smaller switchbacks. The trail then comes to a large intersection where it stays to the slight right, traversing across a small ravine before taking a turn to the left and cutting across the mountain. The trail then enters one final short but steep drop into the base area and arriving at the bottom of the Aerial Tram and the Peruvian chairlift.
Snowbird is a ski area located in Snowbird, Utah. The ski area is located in southeastern Salt Lake County in Northern Utah, about a 40-minute drive southeast of the state's capital and largest city, Salt Lake City. The ski area is one of two ski areas located in Little Cottonwood Canyon, the other being its neighbor Alta. Skiers may ski both resorts in the same day with an Ikon Pass, AltaBird Pass, or a valid AltaBird lift ticket via the AltaBird Connect located at the top of the Baldy chairlift connecting to the top of Alta's Sugarloaf Lift. Snowbird is known for its challenging terrain, offering even the most advanced skiers plenty of challenging terrain. The front side of the resort consists of two main valleys: Peruvian Gulch and Gad Valley, which contain many of the resort's groomed trails, separated by the famous Cirque Traverse area. The backside of the mountain, Mineral Basin, consists of a large and steep bowl as well as the Baldy area which contains more gentle terrain. Snowbird is owned by Powdr and is therefore a partner on the Ikon Pass. Full Ikon pass holders receive 7 days between Snowbird and Alta while Base Plus pass holders receive 5 days between the two resorts and standard Base pass holders receive 5 days at Snowbird only.

We did Chips Run all day on Monday May 6th, 2024 and it is not a blue run in some places. The visibility was pretty bad and there was tons of powder on Monday. The signage near the bottom isn’t as clear as to where chips run is located; maybe the visibility added to this difficulty of seeing the signs clearly. Couple runs we ended up on blacks that we didn’t want to be on. Overall not a bad trail. I would rate this the most difficult blue run in Utah. For expert to upper level intermediate skiers. Not a run for beginners or even intermediate skiers especially when it’s blowing 20 knots, snowing like a mofo, poor visibility and cold! That was the conditions on May 6, 2024!
