You don’t have to have noise - turn the thing down and it is quiet. It is far more efficient on fuel than the BRS 300T and will also burn better in windy weather. I fought against having a Jetboil for years, but gave in and wish I’d done it years ago - superb bit of kit 😬
100% it's why everyone compares everything else to jetboil, there is some other great kit out there, but I'm a jetboil fanboy 😅, have the Flash 2.0 the minimo, the mighty mo, Also the skillet and 1.5L ceramic pot, all quality stuff,
It’s definitely a good bit of kit, if used in the right situation to fully take advantage of it. To me, in my use case, for the money I still consider it wasteful.
I drink coffee from my jetboil all the time, I don't see how it's dangerous.. The handle works just fine, you didn't explain why you have a problem with it. You didn't support your doubt on how many litres it will boil with any fact. The jetboil is twice as fuel efficient than your lightweight option, so you would need to bring twice the fuel to boil the same amount. The jetboil doesn't need a secondary windscreen either, and the cup on the base is only to measure out a portion of freeze dried food. The jetboil pot is plenty big enough for a boil in the bag meal, with hot water left over for a brew. You claim in your pinned comment you actually like your jetboil, but then slagged it off for the entire video. You admitted in the beginning you got a deal on the price, as where some MRS stoves are more than £100 which doesn't include the pot and the gas, a very flawed argument.
I have a zip, and it works perfectly for my use. I "hike" around on a ebike, and the fact to have a hot coffee, chocolate, tomatosoup or whatever; on the go is priceless, its almost faster than my waterboiler at home😊
I see the zip locally for $65 3/4 of the year. I have 2. One that I backpack with and one that I keep in my truck most of the time in a go back with food water and candle blankets. I use them both regularly for coffee at work, dehydrated meals. I will admit it’s not a cooking unit heating up a can of soup is tedious but it boils water fast and easy. I love them!
The zip works great for boiling water for whatever your hot water needs are. I use the crap 💩 out of mine on my snowboarding trips to the mountain. It melts snow very fast…
I’m on the fence about buying one. I get why you said what you said and for you yes it’s not worth it. Some people are missing the main point with these though. If you’re camping out of your car or doing short hikes etc then yes these are probably not worth it. They’re more designed for mountaineering for example where the only thing you’ll ever need from a stove is to boil water for freeze dried meals etc and you want to do it in the quickest and most efficient way possible and having to carry the least amount of gas. I asked a guy at a store today and he said you can use cheaper other brand gas canisters which I would. I didn’t want to be dependent solely on Jetboil canisters either; I hate it when companies do that sort of crap! There’s a reason Jetboils are also issued to US Special Forces out of all the things they could be issued with and it’s the same principle. They’re not the best or only option for everyone and they were never meant to be. Only reason I’m considering one is boiling water on ultralight hikes and multi day trips in the mountains where weight does matter. Thanks for the video…some people love or hate these and for them, they’re both right but all feedback helps! All about what your purpose is…
Nah meht, too far outside of town in the wrong direction bud! Right next to the A30, along the path from Respyn Road to Lanhydrock. Which is your favourite alcohols stove Glen?
@@KernowCamps I like the Phantom alcohol stove from Polymath if keeping weight down or the tried, tested and trusted Trangia. I like the simplicity and silence. Like you, I can't see a Jetboil being a good fit for my leisurely rambles on Dartmoor.
I’ve not heard of the Phantom, gonna have to take a look at that. Thanks! I’m glad you agree with me, the noise of the JetBoil does not lend well to the beauty of Dartmoor at all!
I bought the Jetboil Zip last Thursday (19th Jan) from Millets in Shrewsbury. They have them on offer for £65. My BlueLightCard gave a further discount reducing it to £53. For what I'll use it for, it will be fine. I must admit, I thought it came with the Pan Steady but that's another £13 from gooutdoors. The packaging is a little misleading. Still, I'm happy with my purchase. Great review. Thanks
I've had a Jetboil Flash for over 10 years and I'm quite happy with it and it works really well in windy conditions but I also have an Alpkit Kraku which is cheap and tiny and I take when I want to save space. I'm not sure if I would replace the Jetboil if I lost it, I might swap to a cheaper version. Cheers dude 👍
I'd guess that 10 years ago the options at the time were significantly more limited, not to mention their availability? I'd also hazard a guess that JetBoil's were comparatively much less expensive? Looking at the Flash today, I'd say it is a far superior product to the Zip. The Zip seems to me, when comparing to the Flash, simply a way for JetBoil to offer a slightly cheaper product to give the impression that they are far more affordable. The fact that the Zip doesn't include a piezo igniter, but the Flash does, but the Flash costs around £15-£20 more is sickening to me. The Kraku looks like a good bit of kit. Very similar to my BRS 3000T, but far better build quality (looks nicer too). If I ever become dissatisfied with the BRS I might upgrade to the Kraku myself! The fact that you state that you might not replace the Flash if you lost it, and would instead look to a cheaper options, even after 10 years of use speaks volumes to me about how you, and possibly many others, feel about JetBoil's. Thanks for watching and for your comment Tony!
About a year ago,I bought a boulin 1500 with a 1 1/2 ltr pot for less than 50$.Price is more now,I'm sure, but with large container, and remote gas,is well worth it!

I'm constantly on a budget anyway so if I was to go for that kind of set up I'd probably get the Firemaple. When out hiking/camping it's about chilling out and taking things at a slower pace. Anyhow, enjoyed your review. 🙂👍
