    I like Andrew Ward more and more with each video … proper bloke … clearly an excellent farmer and a quality chap to boot. His videos are interesting and informative… for the life of me I have no idea why he doesn’t have more subscribers… he definitely deserves them but I guess that takes time. Andrew, if you or your team read this please keep up the great work … !!!

    Brilliant vid. Very interesting. That tractor and drill is some set up! Would love to see it working first hand. Hopefully the merlot tastes good tonight! Cant beat it! Cheers and thanks for the retweets on Twitter regarding the lodges in mid wales! 👌 Cheers 🍷

    May have commented too soon sorry Andrew.
    Your free flow drill has done an amazing job in those conditions 👍

      That’s ok Guy, it did a cracking job, I don’t know of any other drill which would of gone close to that Freeflow.

    The Simba drill is doing a grand job in challenging conditions, cannot imagine any of the demo DD drills doing a similar job. A Fastrac on the front of the Bailey would make a great outfit for the local YFC on a day trip to Skeggy!!!

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard
      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Now what could go wrong on a YF day trip to skeggy!!! The Freeflow does a cracking job in those conditions and I’m sure you’re right, nothing else would run as well.

    Really excellent demonstration of the drills can't wait to see the difference in germination and crop yields.
    It has shown one result already, that you have and run the best drill already ,the results in that compacted headland was outstanding

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard
      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you’re right, the demo has proved his good out Freeflow is. The differences in the plots will be very interesting, we’ve not had any rain since the drill day.

    Lovely fitting tribute to Lord Plumb, you won't go far wrong with horsch Drill, fast becoming the u.k direct drilling manufacturer of choice

    Very very interesting. Thanks so much for this. I used to be involved in a steam museum in Essex & I have to say you so remind me of Peter Philpot. That is meant as a compliment by the way.

    I’d keep the freeflow for now,even if you decide on another drill. We have a freeflow and have not long had a weaving gd and neither are perfect but both good in the right situations.
    Thanks for doing the updates, I think it so useful for other farmers to see how things can be done and spreading your expert knowledge!

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard
      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comments Dan. Interesting you have a Freeflow and a gd, you’ve all options covered. I’ll definitely keep our Freeflow but want a smaller drill for when drilling direct into lots of trash or cover crops.

    I always enjoy your weekly updates and appreciate you always taking the time to respond to questions.
    My question today is, did farmers in the UK adjust their spring seeding plans in response to the run up in commodity prices; more wheat, less barley? Spring seeded oilseeds?

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard
      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t think many have because seed will have been on farm for ages.

  • @guylewis4770
    @guylewis4770 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good evening Andrew
    With inputs so high at the moment do the economics still stack up for drilling your compacted headland area as I don’t suspect you are expecting much of a return on it.
    Would a cover crop help to repair the structure?
    Kind regards
    Guy

      The tougher the conditions, the better it runs, it really does show how good it is and when it was designed it was way ahead of its time,

    Think your own drill is better than the rest on that tough land.
    Previous drills didn't fill the slot or left it too rough. Slug heaven😂

    Looks like on your heavy field, simba is the best machine, the sprinter needs a pass of the roll. ( maybe better with both but the finer work from the simba , you have less worries when you re a day late with rolling)

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard

      That drill was only a trial, if you watched some later ones, we got better yields with our Freeflow.

    • @Explorer214urban
      @Explorer214urban ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WardysWaffleAndrewWard No I didn’t, do you remember which video it was? We’ve had 2 free flows, and 2 sprinters.
      Downside of free flow was tines snapping, chopped straw, and bearings were always going mainly on front rollers.
      The free flow would go better in wet than sprinter, especially the new type we have now.

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard
      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  ปีที่แล้ว

      There’s numerous videos with the Freeflow drilling. The harvesting one of the dd trials gave some interesting data.

      Our local NFU branch are having a meeting with red tractor ,I think the chairman will have his work cut that evening,several disgruntled farmers in the area,they kept it hidden about the funding from AHDB,or Im asleep,so being double funded through the levies and subscriptions,Its like the tail wagging the dog with them.

    • @farmernige
      @farmernige 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used to support RT now I think it's a waste of time loads of red tape for nothing and imports undercut us using many banned practices and products. Scrap it

    • @philipsankey988
      @philipsankey988 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Take this season ,farm assured cereals off the combine,£170-180,non assured cereals now £300,we have been losing around 1% a year in self sufficiency of food production ,RT dont seem to worry about products produced wit chemicals we cant use,One farmer asked Christine Tacon ,what they were doing about Argentinian Beef coming into Ireland and sold as that, Irish ,half the beef they dont the country of origin never mind the age,sex,dam ,we have 5 tags out they they start cutting you BPS
