Inside Uganda's Moonshine Epidemic

- Ugandans are the hardest drinking Africans in the motherland, both in terms of per capita consumption and the hooch they choose to chug. Waregi, or "war gin," is what they call the local moonshine, and it makes the harshest Appalachian rotgut taste.
This video originally aired on VICE in 2012.
Vice, everyone, releasing old content because they know their old stuff is better..
🤣😂
It is so much better. Vice used to be fucking lit. I think they got bought out by someone which limits what they can do now
Thomas was a beast reporter! Ijs..
Yoooo your profile pic is the same as my home screen
It just depends who is making it like a few weeks ago there was a video about the war in Nagorno Karabakh
The brewer lady is probably the smartest one in the entire village. Keeps quite, doesn’t drink, has a monopoly on a high demand product, uses good ingredients to make it fit for export. Way to go 👌🏼
She does that by keeping the product pure. I don't think she will sell much if even one person dies of her moonshine.
Way to go? Least ethical business ever. I don’t think you should be congratulating her.
@@kareemal-saghir4721 Who are you to judge her? She made a business out of nothing. What would you have done in that situation with all your grand ethical ways smh. The money from that "unethical business" feeds her kids and send them to school. She is only using the cards she's been dealt. And yes, I fucking congratulate her for being so resourceful.
She doesn't drink because she makes it and knows how terrible that stuff is to her body. Yet she distributes it to others in her village.
@@brannonwinchester7054 lol this. She's making a profit from poisoning her entire village. Next thing you know, we'll start praising the local crack dealer for "making a profit from nothing".

Love how the nerdy white reporter guy shows up to a remote Ugandan village and starts asking about where the Waregi is made and then the local guy just takes him to the distillery down the road, no questions asked.

@@ibiza8426 How? The society seems to sputter along...
@@robertmcmanus636 it's still not very good for you ya know? Also Uganda isn't exactly an international superpower, hell even the health minister says its a problem.
@Daniel Amanfo I don't know. It certainly doesn't seem very healthy. But I've seen so much labeling of other's chemical usage and so little introspection on the part of those labeling said usage that I'm very cynical as to the motivations of those who want to tell others how to lead their lives.
@@robertmcmanus636 yeah because giving baby’s and children super strong alcohol is healthy
