Prey is a first person shooter action-adventure video game developed by Arkane Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. The game was released on 5 May 2017, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. In Prey, the player controls Morgan Yu while exploring the space station Talos I, in orbit around Earth-Moon, where research into a hostile alien collective called the Typhon is performed. As the Typhon escape confinement, the player uses a variety of weapons and abilities derived from the Typhon to avoid being killed by the aliens while looking to escape the station. The player gains access to areas of the station through a Metroidvania style of progression by acquiring key items and abilities, eventually allowing the player to fully explore the station in an open-world setting.

Plus there is a small suggestion that you are inside a second simulation, for failsafe purpose. When you decide to kill, there is a small image glitch.

I think he did, considering he is literally referring to the ending.
There is not. It kills the operator with electricity but that's it.
The ending to Prey really surprised me. It's not often that a game makes me want to experience every decision. Prey is a shining example of compelling storylines, albeit a ton of audio logs that hamper some moments.
If you haven't played Bioshock 1 and Bioshock Infinite, I strongly recommend you do.
I thought they both handled the endings much better than this otherwise fine game.
@@w0mblemania Eh. I thought the ending here was good. It kind of reminds me of Assassins' Creed in that you're experiencing events that already unfolded in some fashion, but there's more at stake because your choices do result in either saving or dooming Earth, so I don't see a whole lot to complain about. In Dishonored 2, certain choices left to the player in the first game are taken away and locked into the cannon, but I didn't see any complaints. Similarly, in this game, it turns out that the real Morgan's choices resulted in an overrun Earth, but the ultimate fate of the world is left to you anyway. I think the ending presented after the credits would have opened Prey up to an amazing sequel if it had sold better. I think it would have if it were called "Neuroshock" instead of Prey. That was the original plan, but Bethesda thought reusing an old IP name was a safer bet. At any rate, imagine a sequel where you try to take down the Typhon and free earth as a human-Typhon hybrid. Sounds cool to me, but I don't know if it could capture the interesting moral choices or the tense, twisted feeling of the original.
I just finished the game for the first time and its a complete mind f***! The ending is just perfect!

I just finished the game. I put in over 100 hours, finding all employees and installed 198 nuromods. To tell the truth, I didn't want the game to end. The atmosphere, soundtrack and level design kept me in awe for days!
Sometimes I just want to go back in time and see how Talos 1 operated before the outbreak, just seeing all the events. Everyone in the game felt Human and had personalities through great acting and the many audio logs
Did you replay the game multiple times? Cause I just finished all of it with 204 neuromods, every side mission at 26 hours
Idk how the game is so bad I played 2 days and got bored. It moves so slow and the control setup is dog shit. Half the moves don’t ever work. Climbing half works… and so on

So does the fact that this entire thing was a simulation based upon Morgan's memories, and the Typhon-Human hybrid had parts of Morgan within it, imply that Morgan is dead?
Did he die trying to blow up/disarm the Typhon in the past (not the simulation, but real life) and then Alex used Morgan death as a means to create this simulation and the hybrid, or did he die in order to put "himself" into a Tyhpon?
They just never state directly that Morgan died or how he died.
I think it would be awesome if they could fill that hole in the story. So much to be explained there.
I think the simulation typhon IS morgan
I think that morgan HAD typhon neuromods, and a lot too hence why in the tests in the beginning the scientists are asking you to move the boxes or press the button as quick as possible. They basically want you to use your typhon mods to do it. Like the hiding one you could use mimick matter to become the chair. So morgan already had typhon based mods. So i think morgan fucked up somehow and they are trying to get phantom morgan to fix things. I could be wrong and choosing the leave they say "this isnt the one start over" but yeah

Yonatan Vilan but Morgan does exist. In a flash back scene when ‘Morgan’ gets knocked out when they leave the shuttle, they have the flashback of Alex saying “inject more of Morgan’s cells” which implies that they are using the actual Morgan’s cells to ‘Humanize’ the typhon
I feel the story implies the actual Morgan Yu died trying to contain the Typhon, either by destroying Talos I or not.
You're just a Morgan 2.0 loaded with his memories. I love this twist so much.
So i watched my husband play this for one hour. he just started playing(he just got the Psycho scope) he was explaining how he doesn't know what happened. and what not and what all he knows. and I suggested.. What if HE is a Mimic ??? "no i doubt it" -.- I can't wait till he find out at the end... "I TOLD YOU!!"

Small correction: Mikhaila asks you NOT to get her medicine, saying it's too dangerous. Saving her is both against her wishes and completely the protagonist's choice.

@Petr Říha You're a whole lot dumber than you try to let on. You should realize that Physical and Mental effort are different. Just because recording and editing a TH-cam video isn't hard physical labor, doesn't mean it isn't a laborious process that requires no effort.
Nightmare will reappear continuously intervals are based on the number of the neuromods you used to get Typhon abilities. The chance increases if you have the final version of a Typhon power unlocked. There is a way to temporarily get rid of him but this fails after 4 times (I think as I got the Nightmare 3 times).
Yupp. And I used all those 4 signals and still got hunted by the nightmare even though I had no typhon abillities.
One psychshock and 3 shotgun shell is all you need. Or psycho shock freez time and use q beam eitherway its an easy fight.
I was getting one about every 30 minutes lol.
Once I got psychoshock I just took it out wherever I saw it.
I didn't have a single typhon ability and I got hunted like 9 or 10 times.
Defeated it each time ofcourse.
the ending really reminded my of that point in Chrono Trigger where the king judges all of your actions during the festival. Very surprising

I felt so overwhelmed after completing the game and really needed an explanation like this.

in the hidden location scene, there are flickers in the game, just like we saw in the "helicopter ride." could the final scene be a simulation where the actual typhon who underwent that experience killed alex?

Thanks JV for the great explanation video I finished Prey and did all 3 endings it was a fantastic game I could see aspects of Systemshock and Bioshock which was cool as well. Anyway this vid was awesome keep it coming :D
One weird thing, at the end of the game when the operators were going over how I acted and discussing it with Alex, the doctor Igwe one said “it acquired several typhon neuromods, perhaps to reconnect with its natural instincts, or bridge the gap between human and typhon”, but I had only had level one of transform. Thats the only typhon neuromod I had 🤷🏻♂️…
I also had no idea you could extend a walkway to Dahl’s ship! The lengths I went through to gloo gun my ass up to its door were for nothing lol.

This is why Chris Avellone should be a constant advisor for Bethesda on creating the story for their games.
Game really makes you think. Amnesia, although cliche and drawn out, is quite terrifying. Everything you are is the sum of your memories. Without them, a blank slate, you could be a totally different person. When you get your memories wipes you’re basically commuting suicide. In a way.

played through this game on nightmare difficulty and lord the final act dragged on for a bit but it was soo worth it, those typhon-humanoid things is a really cool concept.

For some it caused unwanted behavior changes, loss of memory severe problems etc

Sooo what happened to the real human Morgan Yu. Does it imply that Morgan failed to secure the Typhon and ship and died? And Alex used a typhon to insert Morgan's consciousness and memories into it to get Morgan back with the purpose of helping Earth or kill humanity? Jesus Christ this was so mindblowing.
This game is a fucking masterpiece. Too bad not a lot of people talk about it.

I interpreted it as the Morgan-Typhon's subconscious attempting to warn itself that it was currently in simulation, where the cutscenes acted as the player "coming to" due to the Typhon's willpower to go back to its normal state.
Don't Let Them Do This To You: Typhon arguing against the hybrid state of existence.
You Are Not What They Say You Are: Could have a double meaning. Typhon warning itself that it isn't really Morgan Yu or perhaps trying to convince the hybrid that it should revert to its primal state.
They Are Afraid: They're afraid of your unadulterated state, which is what the Typhon wants to remain in.
They're Lying To You: Obvious, but you aren't actually in a true plane of existence. Your "in-game" experience is a fabrication and it's being conducted by those who have insight to who you really are.
All in all, I felt like these breaks were meant to be the Typhon's last stand against becoming one with humanity (Morgan). By keeping the entity in simulation longer, Alex is finally able to silence the Typhon's primal dissent and harmony is reached with the human implants.

i believe how most characters stated Morgan yu was acting unusual as if he had never been there what if the neuromods turned him into a part typhon because they tried all of them and there's many and isn't it funny how no typhons even broke into our containment type cell maybe while the human part of him is inactive the typhon part is still there so they couldn't differentiate between him and the typhon also take the telepath it normally controls humans but can't control typhon if we are part of his memories either he forgot he was controlled or the telepaths physically couldn't control us also it means that Morgan went through each option and did everything

When you think about it, they say "if you remove a neuromod, you lose all the memory since the moment you installed it"
I'm asking YOU : what is the only way to remove a neuromod ?
I think you got it : Go back at a previous savepoint
What happen if you load a savepoint ? You lose your(s) neuromod(s) and all progress and "memory"
And by memory, i mean Morgan's memory because of course our memory never gets erased.
But the world doesn't sustain those changes

I saved Alex, but he still got knocked out, what determines whether January incapacitates alex or alex kills him.
January incapacitates Alex if you want to send off Null Wave device. Alex kills January if you want to destroy Talos I.
When you approach the two talking you can either not be seen and listen from the other room as Alex kills January or you can go in and they will both acknowledge you and January will knock out Alex before his attempt to kill him. Either way you can also kill or knockout Alex and kill January it’s up to you I just let it play out.
Either way, is real Morgan dead? Where the heck are they at the end? I liked this game, felt like a classic, but I would love to get more closure one day.

Sadly we’ll never get a sequel and if we do it’ll be bad. Almost all the devs that worked on prey are gone and Redfall was the end of Arkane
Good summary. Wish you'd used "you" or "Morgan" instead of "he", as I went for female Morgan, so it grated slightly, each time you said "he".

Gotta admit: when I first heard of Prey (2017), it elicited little more than a "meh" and I completely passed it over. I recently picked it up on PSN, at a massively-reduced price, and loved it. Rather enjoyed the ending/s, personally, even though it seems a lot of people were disappointed with it.
Wow, people keep saying this game has an incredible story, but having it all be a simulation is literally one of the worst story tropes ever. The story only really starts right after he wakes up.
why even present the option to kill people, it makes no sense. like the first part of the game implies its before the better good but the killing just seems pointless
