This one made me cry. My husband died from a cerebral hemorrhage as well. This kind of loss is so quick, unexpected and unprepared for. I understood completely how she felt, wishing her husband was alive to see the completed renovation. It takes years to work through that kind of loss. George, you did well. You gave her a sanctuary, a place to pray, a place of peace. You are a good man.

Tammy M My guess is the family is contacted by the George to the Rescue PR team and they tell them that they are finalists and want to come and meet the family and see what needs to be done. It’s a pre-production ruse and the family may suspect (depending on how long they have been watching) but are genuinely surprised when George knocks on the door or rings the doorbell while the pre-production team is there. I just love all of these rescues and more often than not it makes me cry with happiness for the families. I would cry and faint if he showed up at my place. ❤️

This is amazing. Herman basically had it all prepped; George just had to finish it. In the end, it is still built by Herman. It is a gorgeous and well thought house. Was Herman's workspace fixed/ organized??

That so reminds me of the amount of unfinished projects my dad left after he died, there were literally mountains of electronics he took on to fix from other people and an unbuilt house, the garage was stuffed with tools and wood. It was very difficult for my mom to manage all that.

Another job well done George. Looked awesome. If only I could afford to do a few things to my (soon to be my) house. I have ideas just not a wallet that would handle them, things my mom wanted to do , things my grandparents wanted to do but the wallet never seemed to have the money to do so. Working through probate right now its a major expensive struggle with a lot of unknowns right now on top of losing my mom 1-1/2 years ago probate makes it just that much harder.

My boyfriend has a list of jobs to do longer than Santa’s list of people to see. My only question is when 3m supplies eye ware is weird to me. This is what they do for a living so they’ll have a half dozen of them.
I LOVE they did that for this family. ( I have watched a few video's. Do you notice they don't pick out a truly poor person in need? Maybe someone with only a $75,000 house who has struggled and was just never able to remodel or renovate.)

12 year old Bruce hardwoods in kitchen. My girls come to paint my grainy granny oak cabinets. Amazing prep including covering the hardwoods. Used the blue tape to tape paper down. It pulled up the coating. I am living with it, put a rug down...but that should have not happened. Another job..they used the green frog tape before I warned them....worked fine. Just putting out a warning...resurfacing hardwood floors is very expensive, and I didn't have the heart to charge my wonderful ladies who did my gorgeous cabinets with the expense. My kitchen cabinets are an automotive type of satin finish, the wood was sanded and primed at their studio, and feels like a babies bottom...no cracking or peeling two years later even with my constant cleaning. My regular painter oohs and aahs over them every time he comes to do another section of the house. Do not let a regular house painter paint over your finished cabinets. The special paint came from Wisconsin to my ladies in Texas..look for someone who does only wood cabinetry finishes. It cost me about 25% of putting in new, and minimal time/mess.
I’ve not done interior remodels for people in need but I have done when asked more than a few garden tidy ups when asked and the shocked look when they’ve asked the cost was zip, nada apart from getting my flask filled with fresh tea and maybe a few Scottish biscuits and I’m set
I had to take the double-glazed window panes out to get my sofa in - the place I bought the sofa did that for me too. When I moved to a flat we had to get it lifted up to the first floor and in through where the balcony was. Some nice touches done by you here but personally I wouldn't need more light in my bedroom because it's only for being in bed and as light wakes me up I've got a blackout curtain! Sad loss of the dad but glad they got their house waterproofed and finished etc.
I believe they think they are just being "interviewed" for the process of applying to be a winner. Then while saying why they deserve to have a renovation, the doorbell rings and surprise, it's George. But now anyone who is interviewed will know they also won. They need a new pitch.

This is filmed in NY and northern NJ, it's sad to say but you can't find a house under 200,000 and that's really cheap over here by us.

This family was nominated by someone by sending an e-mail to George to the Rescue and send in s story explaining why they need a rescue.
