I love this song! Last year, on the night of 25 December 2022, as my 11-month-old son and wife were in hospital the Lord brought it to my mind. Some lines were replaying there as he lay at PICU in a critical condition. The following is part of my journal entry that night: "We trust God. He will take care of us and everything. We have peace -- nothing comes to us without passing through Him and being allowed as our portion by Him. "I currently have the words of this song in my heart: "He is here, Hallelujah He is here, Amen He is here, Holy, Holy I will bless His name again He is here, listen closely Hear Him calling out your name He is here, you can touch Him You will never be the same." The following day, in the afternoon on 26 December, he succumbed to the illness. We were hurt. We're still grieving. But as I look back I know that God was preparing us for what happened. We had no thought that he would die, he was such a resilient child. But the peace which passes understanding we felt in the days preceeding his death reassured us of God's unfailing love and presence. He was reminding us, "I am with you, children. I am here." Interestingly, our son's name was Ukhonankosi (meaning: "You are here Lord"). Whatever you are going through, dear friend, remember God is with you. Prof. John Lennox has often said something along these lines: He might not take away the cause of the pain, but He never distances himself from our pain. He felt and continues to feel it with us. Finally, some day He will take it all away; He will destroy death, and there will never again be any more sorrow, crying, or pain (Revelation 21:4, 5). Take courage.

I have been an active fan of Bill Gaither's Music since early 1970's but nothing has ever had the impact as this song. In listening to other singers rendition of it I found none can compare to Wes Hampton. He truly brings about a real worship experience and makes me to know and experience HE IS HERE!
I just love Wes so much… I always notice how he’ll put one of his hands on the shoulder or back of one of the other brothers , in love and support, as they sing. I’ve always believed him to be a very precious person, not to mention talented. I love how Michael and David kind of stand back and let Wes shine in this one. I could listen to them all day.❤

I was listening to this song as I have done many, many times. But this time I felt the Lord. When the song ended, I had to turn my music off. I don't know how long I just was crying and saying, I love you, God. I love you Father. Come and fill me. I'm not sure what else I cried to the Lord but His presence was here. I’ve listened to this song 100 times or more. It just gets better every time I hear it. Wes Hampton has a beautiful voice. When you add David Phelps and Michael English with him, you can’t beat their harmony. The orchestra is amazing. What a glorious song!
I wrote He Is Here in 2012. I had a long time relationship with the hall of fame baseball player George Brett. George had married me in the summer of 2011 but because of his job, working as a player scout for the Kansas City Royals, we were not able to get together. Then in the spring of 2012 George filed for a legal annulment and then married Kelli Glass. This had been a significant relationship going back to my early teens and the thought of having a caring husband with millions of dollars was appealing to me after my husband Shawn Obrien died. But this wasn't God's will for my life and I discovered that my relationship with God was more precious than anything money could ever buy.
A dear friend, Joyce Hutcherson sings this at our church and on the last chorus she asks the congregation to join in and it is breath taking and touches your body, heart, and soul and the all powerful presence of our God makes everyone tremble and many tears flow. God bless you dear sister in the Lord.
I have no doubt that GOD is in that place with the singers and Bill and Gloria! I fear that some uncaring, sinner will do their best to stop anything to do with worshipping GOD! Yes, He is here and everywhere!!!! How thankful I am!!! I started watching the Gaithers when I lived near my parents after my 2 boys were grown up and off to college. I would walk down the little country road--not far to their house every Saturday night and we would watch the Gaithers every Saturday night from 6:30 p.m. til 8 p.m.--Came to love them dearly. My folks have gone home now--God took them gently after years of serving Him faithfully all their lives at the ages of 90 and 94, both in 2014. I will see them again!!! Thank you, dear Lord!!!

I wanted to say more about the writing of He Is Here. The story about George Brett is true, and that is the time when I wrote the SECOND verse. I wrote the first verse and chorus in the summer of 1994. I gave birth to twins, both of whom had fetal alcohol syndrome. After the birth I made arrangements for the babies to be adopted. Then I went to a local Catholic parish. Fr White was the parish priest. He heard my confession and gave me absolution. Weekly Mass followed, with the partaking of the Eucharist. Then Fr White always had 3 hours of Eucharistic Adoration. As I sat meditating in the presence of God I experienced a deep healing.
I like that David doesn't try to overpower Wes, although he could. These guys joke around, especially with Mark Lowery in the mix but they sing from their hearts and are winning souls to Christ every day by touching the hearts of sinners with their music. People will listen to a song that might not listen to someone trying to "preach" to them.
What I do not understand is why so many negative comments on this kind of music. It just blows my mind. You have the right to express yourself.The singers on here sing from there hearts. You know you feel what you are singing when they get emotional while singing This gospel music is really the only music I listen to. It helps to deal with what life throws at you

In an interview with Bill Gaither, David Phelps was asked what he thought about Wes. David replied that he (Wes) had one of the purest voices he had ever heard. He also said that Wes is one of the people that truly lives what he sings and speaks. Wes is now the senior member of the Vocal Band, besides Bill of course, lol. Bill holds a special place in his heart for all of his Vocal Band members, both past and present. He has his favs of course. David, Guy, Michael, Mark, Larnelle. Wes is surely in that list. Such a sweet voice filled with emotion and his love for The Lord Jesus Christ.

Love this gospel group. Sometimes we just have to get a renewed call from God that will always remind us God will always answer our prayers when we are going through life 's trials and tribulations. Nobody is perfect and things as well as people are sent down our paths to send us a message that we are never going to be alone and make us a better person and hopefully help the people that are sent to us through out our lives. A few year's back,my Husband & i stopped at a gas station. While i was there they were playing music. I couldn't believe my ears. This song was playing at a gas station. Yes, He is here and everywhere!!!! How thankful I am!!! I started watching the Gaithers when I lived near my parents after my 2 boys were grown up and off to college. I would walk down the little country road--not far to their house every Saturday night and we would watch the Gaithers every Saturday night from 6:30 p.m. til 8 p.m.--Came to love them dearly. My folks have gone home now--God took them gently after years of serving Him faithfully all their lives at the ages of 90 and 94, both in 2014. I will see them again!!! Thank you, dear Lord!!!

I wanted to say more about the writing of He Is Here. The story about George Brett is true, and that is the time when I wrote the SECOND verse. I wrote the first verse and chorus in the summer of 1994. I gave birth to twins, both of whom had fetal alcohol syndrome. After the birth I made arrangements for the babies to be adopted. Then I went to a local Catholic parish. Fr White was the parish priest. He heard my confession and gave me absolution. Weekly Mass followed, with the partaking of the Eucharist. Then Fr White always had 3 hours of Eucharistic Adoration. As I sat meditating in the presence of God I experienced a deep healing.

I like that David doesn't try to overpower Wes, although he could. These guys joke around, especially with Mark Lowery in the mix but they sing from their hearts and are winning souls to Christ every day by touching the hearts of sinners with their music. People will listen to a song that might not listen to someone trying to "preach" to them.
What I do not understand is why so many negative comments on this kind of music. It just blows my mind. You have the right to express yourself.The singers on here sing from there hearts. You know you feel what you are singing when they get emotional while singing This gospel music is really the only music I listen to. It helps to deal with what life throws at you

In an interview with Bill Gaither, David Phelps was asked what he thought about Wes. David replied that he (Wes) had one of the purest voices he had ever heard. He also said that Wes is one of the people that truly lives what he sings and speaks. Wes is now the senior member of the Vocal Band, besides Bill of course, lol. Bill holds a special place in his heart for all of his Vocal Band members, both past and present. He has his favs of course. David, Guy, Michael, Mark, Larnelle. Wes is surely in that list. Such a sweet voice filled with emotion and his love for The Lord Jesus Christ.

Love this gospel group. Sometimes we just have to get a renewed call from God that will always remind us God will always answer our prayers when we are going through life 's trials and tribulations. Nobody is perfect and things as well as people are sent down our paths to send us a message that we are never going to be alone and make us a better person and hopefully help the people that are sent to us through out our lives. That relationship ended when he married Kelli Glass. I discovered something far more valuable than romance and money.
