    Great demo Andrew. I admire both your work and your fortitude.
    I used to work out of doors quite often, but now find it just too onerous, not to say terrifying. I haven’t seen a ‘location’ artist anywhere for years.
    Keep up the good work.

    Thank you for braving that terrible weather to show us how to adapt to plein air conditions. Here on the California coast, it's exactly like that in winter so I know how cold it is. My biggest problem is it gets so cold I can't feel my fingers by the end, but your video has given me a "second wind" in trying it out again sometime.

      @@AndrewPittArtist Andrew, thank your son also. I have a question about the frame you use for holding down your paper. Is it plastic? And if so, how did you cut it? I tried to make something similar with 1/8” plywood and the ply’s came apart. I had better luck with pressed board but couldn’t get straight lines. I’d like to try plexiglass or acrylic but that will be even harder to cut. Appreciate your input. Cheers.

    • @AndrewPittArtist
      @AndrewPittArtist  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’ve made various drawing frames, some with hardboard, some with MDF and some with clear acrylic (perspex), which is difficult to cut and probably best done professionally - I think they use a laser cutter. If you scroll through my free-to-watch videos you’ll find one which gives more detail about my drawing boards. @@davidgreene3809

    Andrew, I always find your videos very interesting and instructive, especially when mixing colour. I’ve noticed you do not change your brush very much and do not mention the type of brush you use but it seems to make marks which suit, and are individual, to you. Please can you comment on that.

      Thanks for getting in touch. My brushes are nothing special. Most are Chinese calligraphy brushes of various sizes. I have to say once I have started painting I tend to forget which brush I have in my hand, unless I’m about to do the Sky and need something bigger or I’m about to make some particularly small delicate marks and need a small brush with a good point. Sorry I can’t say anything more helpful.

    The tendency to drift up the page when sketching - is that caution here? I had never heard that expression. Does it refer to perspective and/or horizon line?

    • @AndrewPittArtist
      @AndrewPittArtist  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s my way of expressing a tendency I have noticed in students to place the horizon (eye line is the same thing) too high on their paper. I think this is bias is a mistaken attempt to get depth in a painting.

    I don't understand why W/C painters use those calligraphy brushes. They're way small. They splay out too much. It takes forever to paint areas and they don't take much abuse before they aren't usable anymore. But too each his own I suppose. Love your work Andrew. Cheers from the desert.
