I'm a brand new player to FFXIV and I'm not to end-game yet but this definitely helped give me more of an idea of what skills to be using when. I'm sure I'll come back to this again once I hit 80. Thanks! :)
to add: when barrage is up, make sure your dots have been recently refreshed as well. otherwise the x3 hit buff you get for your next GCD (excluding apex arrow) will be applied to iron jaws instead of refulgent arrow.
So far everyone explains rotations differently and what the rotation is. So, yeah, not convinced this is anything but peoples opinions on how to be the most effective. Starting to feel I should just figure out what is effective for myself by playing/experimenting.

i just started playing this game and just hit heavensward. i started with archer/bard because my main in wow wasa hunter. That being said I am not feeling the amount of gcd and ogcd this job has. Like there are literally 14 different abilities that you can use. i have a 12 button (on the side of the mouse) gaming mouse and i just wanna know what aside from your songs, and your dots, are the most essential abilities to use cause i really dont liek hte idea of having to handle 14 different abiities besides songs, besides personal buffs, and besides raid utility. its not the type of job that im feeling. i tend to be more of a "selfish" dps. so any tips on this would be helpful
Generally when the tank pulls I start “dotting” every enemy and once all dotted I start attack as usual. This if for trash mobs obviously but, in your opinion is that a waste of time for the party? I’m generally the only one using dots in the parties Im in i notice so I’m curious if I could be doing differently and it would save time if I was just spamming quick knock etc. I’m only level 45 right now so I only have access to some of the attacks you mention. Thanks
dotting the enemies while the tank is pulling is a great thing to do. once they've gathered all the enemies and you have a few dots going then it's better to start spamming quick knock.
Why does everyone only show the "Opener" but never the actual repeatable rotation? i see so many videos that do that and its so confusing :( I also wish ppl did controller guides for these classes ._. no one has them for bard.
He does explain the rotations though, and some classes such as bard do not have a set in stone rotation, especially due to encounters. Also there are some controller guides out there, I know work to game has some guides (idk if they made one for bard yet) and baka games has a controller setup for all classes from 5.0.

What I want to know more than anything is how did you get that one set of bars to be a 2x6 set with the debuff timers under them? I can only get them to go in sets of 12 buttons.
@@IlyaDalamiq I figured it out with the help of some of my guildies...it is actually the option in the system settings to hide unassigned hotbar boxes. So he basically used a 2x6 bar and is only using 3 spaces on each line. :)

One minute in im already lost. I just want to know where to put my spells and shit on my hotbar. I literally have no idea what anything does even after reading the tooltip. This is way too confusing. I just wont do anything.

How on earth do can you see when Bloodletter is ready? There's no visual for that. How can you watch the boss and use that sudden Bloodletter without constantly looking at the hotbar??
i have a mini hotbar next to my important info, so thats how i keep track of it. i also know some players just spam the bloodletter button during mages ballad in case it resets
@@MasterDav it's just an extra hotbar that i've made smaller and put the skill on a second time. it acts the same as any normal hotbar but i just don't have any hotkeys for it
I have bloodletter on my main hotbar. I've never had an issue seeing it refresh when it's ready. Maybe make UI bigger (that's what i did) or move hotbar location?

whats gcd and dots ? kinda hard to follow for a new mmo player 😅
global cooldown: refers to the skills that are all sharing a cooldown (2.5sec)
dots are damage over time abilities
And if you ever come across the term "AOE", that means "Area of Effect", aka, abilities that cover a certain chosen area instead of specific targets.

it's on option in the hud layout. hit the cogwheel on the info bit and you should be able to find it

Hey I noticed you don't have your buffs binded too anything how did you proc your buffs without clicking or binding them to a button?
hmm? i have all of my buttons hotkeyed.
if you're talking about that mini display hotbar that isn't hotkeyed, but those are duplicate skills

minuet for 30, ballad for 30, then paeon for 20

way too complex rotation. I have started an archer, with the job done it became a Bard. Had a blast as archer, really HATE Bard.
Try dancer or machinist. They both have easier rotations. If you want to stay as range dps that is.
You just hit everything that is off CD lol and wait for 3 stacks on the first song thats it.

Mage ballad song meter has a little flash whenever it procs the CD reset. Check it out the next time you play
@@IlyaDalamiq yes!!! How do you set up that minibar?, as a main bard is a pain in the ass to check on procs and dots all the time at hotbars :)
