Hey friends, I'd love to discuss the possibility of revealing perks, and be open about why we don't do it. (added more in another comment, check replies) A lot of builds killers like to run are late game builds, NOED + No Way Out are very common perks in builds and the ability to know that these perks are in play gives a HUGE advantage. On top of that, even knowing those perks AREN'T in play gives a huge advantage too. You can see this at 1:31:30 in this video, when the survivor team fears NOED so they don't go for the easy save that they could have gotten. Unfortunately, the DbD comp scene is still a bit scuffed and we can't really trust players to just not cheat and look at the stream to tell what perks are being run. But also, I do understand that seeing the builds would help A LOT with the viewer experience. I'd love to be able to scroll through the survivors at the start of every game and talk about their builds and their potential role in the team as well, but it's very hard at the moment without sacrificing competitive integrity. We already stream the tournament with a 5 minute delay to help with potential screen-cheating, so I could try to discuss with the admins the possibility of extending the delay to 10-15 mins? Even that may be an issue though. I know in this video we had games that were all less than 10 mins generally, but if 2 VERY high level teams go against each other as twins/hag, the games can go for much much longer than 15 minutes. Feel free to give me your thoughts on it. If you have any suggestions or anything to share at all. I'm gonna try to figure out a way to do it while staying fair, but no promises, cause it might not be possible. It also might not happen for this tournament, but maybe for the next one. I'd love to hear your thoughts though.
During the stream this may be unavoidable, however would it be possible to have someone edit in an overlay of the perks when the vod makes it to youtube? Or is there a significant group of people who watch it live that want to see this change as well?
As much as I would like to see perks if I started watching well into a match, I have grown to enjoy and prefer the surprise factor of the perks. As you mentioned, a lot of perks and combinations are common in comp, so it does add a fun surprise every game when cool plays are made with the assistance of surprise perks. Additionally, you do have that risk of player integrity and a delay can't guarantee anything. I would absolutely hate to see a player or team call into question the quality of the tournament and what Swish+you have put into making this happen if say someone were to use something like perk visibility to gain an advantage and alter the outcome of a match. Due to timezone differences i likely will never actually watch the live stream, so i only ever watch the youtube upload. Since cheating is a worry, perhaps the perks could only be added to the TH-cam upload, perhaps this would even be a reason for those who watch the stream to rewatch the tournament on TH-cam.
You could maybe take the perks reveal at the end of the match and put it at the beginning of the match in post, but hide the kills and points.🤔 I think the integrity of the tourney is more important, so I think just looking at the end is fine, but idk. I'm only one viewer.
Im so glad to see more of "competitive dbd" because even if i dont play the game or really keep up with it anymore it is very entertaining to watch matches with multiple people commenting, with restrictions and with organization. Would need a bit of talking out, but, since the second round/game goes into it knowing the win conditions and you'll almost always have a "Sportsmanship" of waiting it out. What if you added incentive to keep playing it out. Things like: MVP - Overkill - Style - Best Teammate - Savior - Toxicity. Anything really that can reward minor prizes to either side but not toward the overall tournament. Could be super low cash prizes or something else. It would increase the engagement and could bring in interesting scenarios in the first matches where people may go for other tactics that can reward them.

I never thought I could be interested in comp DBD but having 2 of my favorite streamers who aren't actually comp players made this easy for me to get into and understand. Tofu Justyn and Ralph do such a great job together. I watched this live but had to watch again after day 2 finished because I am addicted to the whole thing. The casters offer experience in dbd, experience in comp dbd, and humor. Literally perfection imo.
Yeah, but some people are more comfortable playing certain killers. I like this one better because it lets people pick killers they can do better with.

Maybe having Winners/Losers Finals and/or Grand Finals switch to the mirrored killer format might work? Similar to how a lot of FGC tournaments will increase the games from Bo3 to Bo5 towards the end of the bracket.
Kind of sad to see that face camping hooks Is encouraged In these competetive games. Not really alot to look at when they get a down and camp the hook.
I've had more people DC vs me on Plague than I have as any other killer. Something about being downed by Corrupt Purge seems to tilt the hell out of people.
This game is so not designed for killer to have 12 hooks per game. Gen rushing is big big problem. Gens need at least 180 seconds to make this game more intresting and remove camping completely. For example if you face camp, gen are getting rushed at 400% more speed and so on, there are mechanics to avoid face camping and making game actually what was it designed for, chase hook, go for another chase.
Imagine playing the ONE killer that doesn't need to camp a hook, and then camping a hook. In my opinion, he gave away two gens for free at 1:05:00. Decent Billy, stupid gameplay.
Have learned a few new things from watching these tourneys. At the same time though these tourneys have the most boring SAFE game play. Imagine watching a basketball game with no dunks or half court shots...this is it! I understand getting a easy 3 out and sacrificing one person but at the same time. Mad boring though. Survivors leaving someone on hook when 2 of them have borrowed time and killer has 2 hooks entire game. Damn feelsbadman! Most killers are too scared to leave there first hook without survivor hitting second state. Even more boring. On a brighter note I like the commentating by Tofu, Ralph, Justin.keeps it interesting
Slinger being dropped this Tourney was interesting, i thought he had a decent performance in the previous one, but its been a while so I don't quite recall. Also no Bubba is surprising, he's kind of the basement camping king, and with how much that comes up in this tournament i'd have thought that he'd be a shoe in.
You can really tell how much stretched res impacts the games. Survivors just see you 100% of the time and it's just a matter of how fast they can react to double backs. It's really sad man
Damn, the nasty camping Jinx it´s in the Tournament again... WTF Atrocity, first of all chooses a bad killer and then chooses a bad player for it. That was not even Tournament level gameplay for sure. Then faces the Hook Camping team with The Plague, one of the most strong killers in the game with such OP addons that should not even be allowed. Trauma Billy hook camping that were just 3 points instead of the 7 points. Penalized for nasty gameplay by forcing hook stages and sacrifice, that´s how it should be done. Jinx´s Plague hook camping, Freedom´s Huntress hook camping, Master´s Billy hook camping, Deity´s Huntress hook camping. You really think that dirty gameplay is fun and entertaining to watch killers camping hooks during half the match?! That is just boring stuff constantly found in public matches with inexperienced killer players. The more and more it happens, the more it repeats, the more and more uninteresting it gets to watch the Tournament matches as it´s the same thing in almost every game. Should not be allowed in the Tournaments to keep it interesting. Odissey Huntress´s was one ofthemost cleaner players I have seen in whole both the Tournaments I´ve watched so far. Despite the fair share of hatch misses Moody Jo did great and actually provided one of the most enternaiment matches in the Tourney. In the end, just like evrything in life, Odissey team was punished for playing well and decently while the dirty teams win, it´s so sad the lack of decent rules on the subject.

Very exciting hook camping gameplay right here. Super interesting watching a killer stand next to a hooked survivor for 2 full minutes whenever they hook someone.
i love the idea of this tournament with the killer pools and the perk restrictions, as well as the non RNG offerings, but the cam[ing is really a big issue in my opinion, it just takes 1 down and then u camped it out and get rewarded like u really worked for it, its so boring and has nothing to do with skill, even i can get 1 down and then camp. It id reslly a camping fest! A good solution in my opinion would be to not reward as many points for camping, for example if 2 points are awarded per hook state, then if u camp out a hook state u should get half the points, which in this case would be 1 point. I would love to here your view upon this idea!
this would make for more skilled plays/decisions, cause even a 200 hour player can camp and use perks to slow down the game while doing so, it really does not take much skill/ thougt process
If you camp you get at most 2 kills against a good team. If you don't camp, you can get more. Camping isn't rewarded, it's just safe and comes with the downside of losing the ability to get more than 1 or 2 kills.
@@whatsmyageim13hundid51 As someone has watched and played comp killer for almost a year now I'm going to have to tell you you're wrong. Nurse and blight 4k very often(less often in this tournament because of the maps they're on) and in order to get maximum stages you can't camp too much. If you play killer first and you camp, you're giving the other killer a chance to get more stages than you by being more aggressive. The only time camping is "rewarded" as opposed to just being the safer option is when your win condition is met by camping someone to the next stage.
Camping is actually punished very hard by good survivors that coordinate 2 man saves right before the survivor progresses to the next hook stage, letting the survivors work on gens for free while the killer wastes time at hook just for the survivor to not go the next hook phase
I think deadlock is not a good perk for comp. That last huntress match was the perfekt example. You hook a guy and hardcamp them to death not even trying anything else well knowing you can afford it due to deadlock. Thats like messed up and also boring to watch

Oh I guess they could have a couple of seconds/minutes delay to prevent that and that wouldn't works with the perk. So you are right that does prevent stream snipping xD Thanks
I've never played anything but solo and swf, but I have shitty internet. And I frequently have 200 ping, and 400-700 ping spikes sometimes, its rough, but it has taught mu to play through it!
I feel like the people complaining about camping, are the one that run a four man swf with one on hook and three rushing the hook. If the killer and camping a hook it only works early in the game. After that they can just run the gens down and get a three man escape. I’m still new to the game though so maybe throwing a trial as survivor is just part of the game 😂
I checked the rules and damn, the bans are a mess o.o They definitely make the game play better, but it's annoying to check the specifics for each killer and it's still hard to remember which perks can be in play. I get that during the tournament the perks must be hidden, but would it be possible for TH-cam that you edited little icons next to the survivors to show what builds they are running, and also reveal the killer's build? I'm currently taking screenshots to make cheat sheets before each match, that definitely makes it more enjoyable for me :D For example, this play at 44:40 was way more impressive knowing that the dude got resilience.

Hag's normally considered A Tier because for pubs, she is. Her best counterplay of taking hits and strategically messing with her web is something a tournament team can *actually* do really well and effectively. Most pub teams (Even 4 man SWFs) can't do that- let alone 3 mans, duos or solos without just having a *really* well synergized team. Plus, (and I'm only at the 2 hour mark, so there might be another game later on) the Hag game I have seen in the vod was quite... Odd. No disrespect to the player, since they play DBD better then I ever will- but they definitely took a *lot* of major risks on a Killer that can't make a comeback without that precious set-up.

I dont think an Item can have enough impact to be worth the time waste. Like you search a chest for 12 seconds maybe rummage it for 8 more. Thats 20 seconds and if you get a flashlight or a key it was all for nothing. If you get a toolbox its like you save between 5-12 sec on a gen depending what toolbox. A medkit could be beneficial . But seeing this you should acknowledge that its just a big risk to just be a big waste of time that is very precious in comp
Ultra settings are a disadvantage to killer it makes your screen really dark and makes grass impossible to see through while making blood blend into the dirt
You get points for health states, hooks, kills. More points = winning. If the first half of a match goes badly for a killer, then the second match up the other killer does not have to perform as well
These are the survivors I get when I play killer but not when I play survivor. Also I love the way you guys are grading the killer's score, it's def fair :)

Great stuff, thanks for posting. Yall should consider renaming the brackets tho. Referring to one as a losers bracket isn't the best choice. Do a Gold and a Copper bracket, or something else to avoid the negative connotations.
eu has always had more nurses n spirits than us, us has more huntress n billy bc of the older differences in meta. ofc since the games changed its totally different n the meta is the exact same wherever but most comp players have been playing at least since the time there was a distinct regional meta if not long before n helped define that meta
Hey so I have a build you should try I used artist since you can hit people who are next to totems just if let's say you started HEX pentimento. So the build is called the Helen Keller. HEX Pentimento, Thanatophobia,Hex Third Seal And Hex plaything. THana is there for the game early on and later when your trying to get all stacks of pentimento. This build is funny and survivors will surely cleanse totems and if they don't well they will be deaf and blind and Thana will help slow gens down. It's a build that could be really good on trapper,pig or nightmare. I recommend this build at least try a couple of games.
Most of the teams seemed to have used duplicate perks in this video but only one team got punished for it. Is there a rule I missed to allow for BT to be used more than once per team?

Face camping a person to death shouldn’t give them the full amount of points very cheesy
i love the idea of this tournament with the killer pools and the perk restrictions, as well as the non RNG offerings, but the cam[ing is really a big issue in my opinion, it just takes 1 down and then u camped it out and get rewarded like u really worked for it, its so boring and has nothing to do with skill, even i can get 1 down and then camp. It id reslly a camping fest! A good solution in my opinion would be to not reward as many points for camping, for example if 2 points are awarded per hook state, then if u camp out a hook state u should get half the points, which in this case would be 1 point. I would love to here your view upon this idea!
this would make for more skilled plays/decisions, cause even a 200 hour player can camp and use perks to slow down the game while doing so, it really does not take much skill/ thougt process
If you camp you get at most 2 kills against a good team. If you don't camp, you can get more. Camping isn't rewarded, it's just safe and comes with the downside of losing the ability to get more than 1 or 2 kills.

@@whatsmyageim13hundid51 As someone has watched and played comp killer for almost a year now I'm going to have to tell you you're wrong. Nurse and blight 4k very often(less often in this tournament because of the maps they're on) and in order to get maximum stages you can't camp too much. If you play killer first and you camp, you're giving the other killer a chance to get more stages than you by being more aggressive. The only time camping is "rewarded" as opposed to just being the safer option is when your win condition is met by camping someone to the next stage.
Camping is actually punished very hard by good survivors that coordinate 2 man saves right before the survivor progresses to the next hook stage, letting the survivors work on gens for free while the killer wastes time at hook just for the survivor to not go the next hook phase

I think deadlock is not a good perk for comp. That last huntress match was the perfekt example. You hook a guy and hardcamp them to death not even trying anything else well knowing you can afford it due to deadlock. Thats like messed up and also boring to watch

Oh I guess they could have a couple of seconds/minutes delay to prevent that and that wouldn't works with the perk.

I feel like the people complaining about camping, are the one that run a four man swf with one on hook and three rushing the hook. If the killer and camping a hook it only works early in the game. After that they can just run the gens down and get a three man escape. I’m still new to the game though so maybe throwing a trial as survivor is just part of the game 😂

They definitely make the game play better, but it's annoying to check the specifics for each killer and it's still hard to remember which perks can be in play.
I get that during the tournament the perks must be hidden, but would it be possible for TH-cam that you edited little icons next to the survivors to show what builds they are running, and also reveal the killer's build? I'm currently taking screenshots to make cheat sheets before each match, that definitely makes it more enjoyable for me :D For example, this play at 44:40 was way more impressive knowing that the dude got resilience.

Hag's normally considered A Tier because for pubs, she is. Her best counterplay of taking hits and strategically messing with her web is something a tournament team can *actually* do really well and effectively. Most pub teams (Even 4 man SWFs) can't do that- let alone 3 mans, duos or solos without just having a *really* well synergized team.
Plus, (and I'm only at the 2 hour mark, so there might be another game later on) the Hag game I have seen in the vod was quite... Odd. No disrespect to the player, since they play DBD better then I ever will- but they definitely took a *lot* of major risks on a Killer that can't make a comeback without that precious set-up.

Are chest perks not played based on the restrictions regarding items? I noticed they're not on the survior rules for banned perks.
I dont think an Item can have enough impact to be worth the time waste. Like you search a chest for 12 seconds maybe rummage it for 8 more. Thats 20 seconds and if you get a flashlight or a key it was all for nothing. If you get a toolbox its like you save between 5-12 sec on a gen depending what toolbox. A medkit could be beneficial .
But seeing this you should acknowledge that its just a big risk to just be a big waste of time that is very precious in comp
Really wish they'd have bothered to amp the graphics up to Ultra.
Ultra settings are a disadvantage to killer it makes your screen really dark and makes grass impossible to see through while making blood blend into the dirt

You get points for health states, hooks, kills. More points = winning. If the first half of a match goes badly for a killer, then the second match up the other killer does not have to perform as well

Great stuff, thanks for posting. Yall should consider renaming the brackets tho. Referring to one as a losers bracket isn't the best choice. Do a Gold and a Copper bracket, or something else to avoid the negative connotations.
It’s literally the bracket you go to when you lose.
But every tournament for every game that has a loser bracket, refers to it as one. You literally go there when you lose a match.
eu has always had more nurses n spirits than us, us has more huntress n billy bc of the older differences in meta. ofc since the games changed its totally different n the meta is the exact same wherever but most comp players have been playing at least since the time there was a distinct regional meta if not long before n helped define that meta
Hey so I have a build you should try I used artist since you can hit people who are next to totems just if let's say you started HEX pentimento. So the build is called the Helen Keller. HEX Pentimento, Thanatophobia,Hex Third Seal And Hex plaything. THana is there for the game early on and later when your trying to get all stacks of pentimento. This build is funny and survivors will surely cleanse totems and if they don't well they will be deaf and blind and Thana will help slow gens down. It's a build that could be really good on trapper,pig or nightmare. I recommend this build at least try a couple of games.
