I am trying my hand at a vlog-style video again: My friend Amy (what would I do without her?) lent me her unused A5 Plotter so I could test it. My plan is to cut down my Hobonichi Day Free, punch holes and transfer it into the ring planner. Let's see how it goes!

Absolutely, I think that's going to be a while though, I'm still working through all my "want to films" and also noticed that I want to use the regular ones for a while so I know what colors to include in the small palette.

I have not watched the full video yet but I wanted to say you can buy just the ring mechanism in whatever size you want. Then put the ring mechanism on "strings" of a traveler's notebook. This makes your notebooks work double duty.
Yes, I have done that previously with several of my planners. I like the overall slim profile of the Plotter compared to a TN. We'll see what I think about it when I've used it for a while.

Yes they are! That's their only downside. I'm curious to see how they will hold up and what I think about them once I've used them for a while.

I’m thinking of treating myself to a Folio palette later this year. The sticker looks great on there. Love how fearless you are about cutting up your notebook and trying new things.

There are pluses and minuses to hole punched / ring format paper vs. bound paper. Moving around is really useful, but rings are annoying, especially for lefties. Also they are not as archival -- moving stuff around tends in the long term to losing it. Bound is a better snapshot of the time that I used it. So far, I've opted to bound. But the plotter looks good, though not inexpensive. Thanks.
Yes, absolutely. I wouldn't want to use rings for everything. But for this purpose, I prefer rings. WHat's good about these rings is that they are so small and won't interfere much with the writing on both pages. Which is also a downside because you can only fit so much into the small rings.

I’ve been thinking about using a Rings system for a reading journal. I think I’d enjoy the flexibility of it, but I’m not sure about archiving the pages every now and then. Excited to hear how you’re liking the plotter experience. I’ve been meaning to buy an arttoolkit palette for a while now and unfortunately also missed out on the gold special edition. Excited to see your set up!
I'm hesitant about using a ring binder for anything else but planning. I'm not sure I will keep the pages so it doesn't matter to me right now. I do like it so far but I guess, it's too early to tell. Besides the random FOMO when I see the gold palette on IG, I'm happy I built my own custom one.
Yay for the sticker ! ❤ I love rings, but only for collections and stuff I want to move around. Not for planning anymore (used to do Filofax in my 20s till 40s) (yes, I‘m THAT old… ;))), but bound books are much easier to archive. The plotter covers are really nice though… have seen them on Job‘s channel a lot… 😊
I'm not planning on archiving many of the planner things. The things I'll archive I am planning on putting on bookrings and stuffing them in a box. I have learned over time that I'm not referencing my planners. And since I don't plan and journal in the same book, it's ok for me to discard them.
@@seemownay I tend to journal in small bits in my planner, at least on the daily pages… but also the weeklies are interesting to look at again, I find… to see when I last cut my husband’s hair and stuff like that… 😆

Great video. I might want a a5 plotter now. I believe you can purchase the final set of Art and toolkit from travelers on 7/5/23. I too missed out. I would be interested in a sticker if available.
