I love how comprehensible and easy to follow your tutorial is. So many tutorials are shown in creative and are a nightmare to follow along in survival, you just made my life that much easier. All this gunpowder and resulting fireworks will help me feed my elytra wanderlust, lol. Thank you so much!
Pro tip (for those that can mess anything up like me): When you're putting the staircases in for the walls, before you place the trap doors, make sure you leave a space open so you can get out in case you have to drop in from misplacing the ceiling trapdoors or if you have to leave at night. This farm works really well pretty quickly, so make sure you have a means of escaping the creepers and try to do this build only during daylight hours.
A LOT of people are confused about the big platform so I thought I’d explain it. Basically the giant platform allows for more pack spawning which increases the rates of the creepers and makes the farm much more efficient, without this platform, the farm will still work but it won’t be as efficient. Hope this helps! ❤
..And for those that don't know what "pack spawning" is, it essentially works as follows: 1) The game checks for spawnable areas in and around the farm 2) The game has a chance if selecting one of the slabs on that big outer platform (for this example one of them gets selected for a potential spawn) 3) Mobs can't spawn on slabs 4) The game checks for a new spawn location 5) Spawn location selected inside the chamber- creeper spawns Rates increased because there are more "potential spawn blocks" around the farm-- but since ~half of those blocks cant be spawned on, all potential spawns are forced to select a block inside the farm- where you want them. Minecraft's pack-spawning mechanics are why you see many farms use a weird slab platform on the edge. Here's a really good video explaining it in better detail: th-cam.com/video/779nBa43mjo/w-d-xo.html

The skirt increases the farm's efficiency via the pack spawning mechanic. Basically, the game will try to spawn additional mobs on the skirt, but since mobs cannot spawn on lower half slabs it will spawn them in a legal spawn location.... inside the farm.

Can you technically expand it even further as much as you want? Like always have 2 layers then a big slab platform and then repeat.
probably 1 more layer but not sure
It works for me! thank you!!!!
Thanks for the help with this, I built it with my GF and it came out really good
would putting cats on the corners make the farm faster? or would it mess with the spawning of the creepers?
That's what I'm thinking of doing. Surprised nobody answered you yet?
Can i use any block?Or do i need to use only smooth stone and smooth stone slabs?
he said in the video you can replace the blocks he used for other blocks you want to use
I almost lost my sanity while building this in my survival world, but it works well so it's worth it ig? Anyways thanks for the clear tutorial, it helped a lot.
This was my first farm build , worked the first time and getting lots of creepers and spiders
One of the best farms I have made so far but getting all the materials took 2 and a half hours and making it like 2-3 hours. For 5-6 hours of worktime its super worth it. I got 25 stacks in like 20 minutes with looting 3.
