After watching this video I am convinced you all should learn how to land a swordfish before some serious injury occurs.
Would you prefer a 15 degree rod holder or 0 degree like you were using for swording? Seems like the 0 might make the rod high stick a bit.

It would be interesting to see the difference between killing it with ice, or the Brain and bleed(gut) method. A difference in meat maybe?
Weird, my biggest sword was 440lb, and it fought like a freight train straight up and down - but that was handlining and not that deep, so maybe just different on a rod and reel idk. From the ones ive seen visually hit my bait, they like to bill it 2 3 or even 4 times before they commit to eating it. Ive broke off several that got bill hooked and just chafed me off (500lb jinkai)

Be careful with a live sword on the deck like that. You really should control the bill until it’s dispatched. I was watching with one eye closed when you got super close with the camera right after you pulled it in. If it starts thrashing, all it takes is one good whack to turn a good day bad. Nice catch 👍
