  • Pokemon Indigo Disk answered a lot of lore questions about Terapagos, but to find the answers, you had to read and watch VERY carefully.
    Considering what Terapagos's power is, what do you hope Pokemon does next? Let me know in the comments!

    It's funny how Pokemon was doing the multiverse almost 10 years before it was mainstream, and it began as an off-handed excuse for why remakes of old games exist now it is a major plot point.
    I don't think the Tear Orbs have sleeping Terapagos given that it is implied all but one Terapagos died 2 million years ago when Area Zero was created. More likely, and more distubingly, Tera Orbs have Terapagos corpses inside them.

      Pokémon has actually been doing the multiverse thing since the very beginning of the franchise, as the original concept was largely about trading across games/universes so people could play with friends. I have a theory about the union circle. Going off ur theory, the union circle can be powered by tera energy which allows our friends from either scarlet and violet to temporarily exist in the same timeline or universe via the overlap caused by terapagos power. Which would make rank battles a multiversal ace academy torment akin to the tournament of power in DragonBall super having the strongest from every universe fighting to see who is the strongest. Same for ranked battles. Where all representing our respective academy as we fight one another to be the #1 ranked trainer on the ladder across the pokemon multiverse 😮

      I think that Terapagos is very likely going extinct yeah. It makes sense because there's been an effort to save turtles irl from going extinct. Plus the way turtles lay eggs, and the process when they hatch, is super interesting and relevant to when Terapagos "hatches" in SV.

  • @vgcbeta
    @vgcbeta 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I think this is the best explanation of Terapagos's power at the moment, but there's something that still doesn't click for me. I do believe Terapagos can blend timelines, but when we meet Sada/Turo at the crystal lake and we exchange books, doesn't that have to happen in our timeline? At the Area Zero underdepths Sada/Turo's journal entry mentions their strange experience at the crystal lake and how a child gave them a white book. Doesn't this mean Terapagos can perform some kind of time travel on our timeline?

    • @CaylasCapsule
      @CaylasCapsule  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The events we experience at the Crystal Pool are similar, but slightly different, from what the prof in our universe experienced. Our prof left the Crystal Pool with both the SV book AND Briar’s book, whereas the prof we meet ay the Crystal Pool leaves with ONLY Briar’s book. The concept of timelines changing slightly like this is called infinite regress, and it’s typically illustrated by a small turtle standing on a medium turtle standing on a large turtle. Aka Terapagos’s final form.

    in my opinion, terapagos is a prism that bends or filters infinity energy in the same way a crystal can refract light. it’s established that infinity energy can be used to connect universes, and given the fact that it IS the life energy of pokemon, it’s not unlikely that pokémon’s types come from infinity energy. in that way, terapagos’s prism effect could amplify certain wavelengths of a pokémon’s infinity energy, causing it to terastallize into a different type due to the different energy output. IIRC, its said in the area zero logs that the crystals are emitted from terapagos, so it’s possible those are like batteries that store extra infinity energy that passes through terapagos. Terastal energy is just what they call infinity energy that passes through terapagos’s crystal in my theory

    Great job, as usual. I still think there's something missing. In game dialogues and diaries (though not necessarily in the Japanese games) suggest we met another Turo (because of the timing of Arven's birth and invention of the time machine in our timeline), but it's still strange. Why would they do that? Isn't meeting our very own Turo the most compelling climax of the story? Isn't the Crystal Pool meant to make you enter in contact with the dead? If a person from a parallel universe were evoked instead this wouldn't have the same feel. Imagine if Miraidon wished to meet Turo there and that's what triggered Terapagos: meeting Turo from universe B wouldn't not satisfy its wish. Turo's travel does not cause any sort of logical incosistency, there's no bootstrapping or past facts that changes truth value, and even if that was the case why Game Freak would bother when they are calling a group of Pokèmon 'Paradox'? Dialogues aside, I'm not convinced the multiverse is needed for explaining what happened.

      It's turtles all the way down. That's why they're different Turos. That's probably confusing, but I'll explain more in my next video.

    Great video! But we do have definitive proof that Terapagos is responsible for the crystals and terastal phenomenon. The Pokédex states they use energy to make the crystals and that they’re the source of the phenomenon.
    But it’s true we don’t know how terastalizarion truly works in changing types, other than Terapagos’ energy seems to produce type-changing effects given that their body showcases a crystal of every type. So I’m not quite sure if they’re using other timelines to gather another typing, as we would see the pink mist when Pokémon terastalize but we don’t.
    I think the theory of there being dormant Terapagos makes the most sense, given the Pokédex states they went extinct in ancient times due to seismic shifts. The tera orb must just harness the Terapagos tera energy, as we also hear Terapagos’ cry when Pokémon terastalize as a dead giveaway.

    I believe heath met himself and that he can only recall talking to "someone". I also don't think the tera crystals are dormant terapagos. It's made clear in the game actually that terapagos sealed itself in crystals during it's long rest. The crystals could totally have enough energy behind them to power terastal. A big question I have though is how easy it is to change their tera type if they're potentially pulling the phenomenon from other universes. Unless simply feeding them in the treasury, with enough shards of a certain type, is relatively more effective than whatever force they call upon from other universes.

    You've given me a new appreciation for Terapagos - Thank you!

    I think this also ties the "Imagination theory" with "Time Travel theory".
    Since there's infinite possibilities out there and one is bound to fit someone's dream, Terapagos can force specific worlds to intersect according to one's desire.
    I think paradox pokemons only showed up shortly to be seen by Heath's team, and the Time machine is able to bring them here in full flesh, thus solving the paradox(kinda).

      Your idea is supported by a very obscure bit of lore that you can extrapolate from Pokémon Platinum, described by a Hiker NPC in the library.
      The multiverse isn't simply infinite, but it's expanding at an infinitely fast rate. This is because Arceus sees its created world through every living being within it, and as a result, its own understanding of the world it made becomes greater and more elaborate. When anyone simply thinks (dreams) of an idea, that idea has already begun to exist in its own universe. Terapagos then bridges the gap between those worlds. This is why Paradox Pokémon look so 'cartoonish' in how they represent their time period; they represent the general idea of how people imagine the distant past and future.

    Doesn't matter how much you say "Dream theory is wrong, here's literal evidence from game, way back in the base game" people are still gonna say it's true hahaha XD Lovely video, I'm curious if you have any theories on where Terapagos came from. I got my own but not gonna say! I wanna hear yours!

      Haha, right?!? It blows my mind that some people still believe Dream Theory. It didn't make sense before, and it's totally disproven now.
      I think there are 2 possibilities for where Terapagos came from:
      1. Terapagos came from whatever object (probably a meteor) crashed into Paldea, thus creating the Great Crater. This would be similar to Deoxys.
      2. Terapagos lived deep within the planet, and when the meteor crashed into Paldea, Terapagos then had a way up to the surface. This would be similar to Groudon and Kyogre.
      What's your idea?

      @CaylasCapsule Same as your first one! That it crashed into the planet from outer space. Its tera type is STELLAR and is sat on what looks like a meteor, so seems reasonable. There's some stuff about how there were more and a cave in killed all but one, but I don't see why both can't be true. Maybe a bunch crashed in Paldea, bred, there was a few, and THEN the cave in happened?
