    Hey Jawtooth stick a couple of cards under the bridge there and maybe that will stop it bouncing...lol

    It was nice to see the two mixed freight trains at the bouncing bridge. When you mentioned in your description of the video that a man was going to board a moving train that is over two miles long, my first thought was that the man was going to climb onto the train to get on the over side of the train because the train was moving slowly. AS it turned out the man was a CSX employee who was a member of the crew.

    The next derailment for NS is coming lately.
    A bouncing bridge is not safe but have you see that both ends of the bridge is bouncing.
    Like that train in Hamilton Ohio, man 5 dieselbeasts on the front. Go boys go. Full power to the destination.

    Kinda scary watching the bouncy bridge today, had another derailment not too far from my area at Glendale yesterday, alot of cars and trucks destroyed in autoracks! Thankfully it wasn't anything hazardous! Great video Jawtooth! Thanks for sharing!

    • @JawTooth
      @JawTooth  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sorry to hear that. A truck got stuck on the track and caused the train to derail. Glendale,Kentucky is such a nice little town. I like the firehouse that sits close to the track . If I was still a volunteer that would be the place for me. Just think of all those cars that will go to junk. I would take one lol

    This video reminded me of when I was a young boy trains ran through Pamperin Park in Green Bay, Wis. a few times a day. There was a train bridge over the Duck Creek River in one spot.
    My younger brother, my cousin and myself were walking the tracks near this bridge and heard a far off train horn indicating that a train would soon be coming. In a dare, we all somehow got under the bridge and were only 12 inches below the tracks when the train arrived. I remember getting sandblasted with small stones as the locomotives went by and the noise was deafening. Being so close to the amazing power of these engines is something I will never forget. It was one of the most amazing and dumbest things I ever did in my life.

  • @paulbergen9114
    @paulbergen9114 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    The Gap in the bridge actually seems to be growing. The biggest moves seemed to happen with a 50 ft car that's loaded. It actually is reminiscent of a telegraph trying to tap out SOS. The CSX train didn't want to be known as the slowest train in Cincinnati so it picked up the pace. You seem to see this train almost every time you're there as the pattern includes the french fry cars upfront then the group of old scrap metal cars and the flip side of new coil cars. And we can't forget the lone MQT boxcar which is one little cog of the supply chain that means a lot to some company. Ho hum. Norfie is tired from her nap.. For you midwesterners who remember old school wrestling she was getting ready for her next match with her version of The Claw like Baron von Raschke. Go get 'em tiger!

    There's an old railroad company video on here somewhere where they actually show you how to step up on a moving rail car. If you lead with the wrong foot you risk it going under the wheels. I am told by a current railroad employee that they no longer allow boarding a moving train. ....officially.

    Put this on your bucket list. The Golden Spike Tower in North Platte, NB. It over looks the Bailey Yard. The largest railroad yard in North America. It has two classication yards one for east one for west. The yard is 300 TRACKS WIDE AND SIX MILES LONG. The tower is not on UP property. But right next to it on the west part of the yard near the engine shops. The top is enclosed with windows all the way around. It is eight stores up. They have people that are known what you are seeing and to answer questions you have. There is another floor just under it that is open that faces the yard. And get this. 150 trains pass through this yard each day. With three tracks each way. No passenger trains go this way. There is a unusual two tracks next to the tower that is 700 feet long. The railroad will have handcar races on it. Not sure when they do that. Steven Sipes

    I don't understand why the RR doesn't think that movement of the bridge isn't a problem. I would think that the constant movement of the rails as many trains pass would induce metal fatigue in them, possibly leading to cracking of the rails and eventual breakage. But maybe I just don't understand enough of how this kind of movement really affects the rails.

      I'm inclined to agree. A solution might be to pre-load both ends to the concrete. The weight of the train would just take away the pre-load and there would not be any movement. I suspect that the bridge was initially designed to be just supported at the ends but it was "upgraded" with the center support.

    The graffiti maybe pretty, and undoubtedly some of it is a true work of art, but the bottom line is that it's still vandalism and defacing of someone else's private property.
