I'm so disappointed with Francesca's storyline, and the reveal of Lady Whistledown is also a letdown. I wish that Pen had revealed her identity only to the Queen, not just the whole ton who didn't care at all that she was Lady Whistledown, so Pen still kept her identity a secret, it would have been so much more interesting.
Read the book, it fills in a lot of details. Pen was afraid her entire life. She didn't even have a voice in her own household. She had to debut one year early to find a husband against her will. She published her column to fight back. The book explains the Queen did care and she wanted to know she could have an alliance with Pen going forward. Basically, allegiance to the Crown. The Queen was pleased because Pen promised to be more responsible with her articles (i.e. the power of the pen - no pun intended). Pen was relieved because she didn't have to hide her identity anymore and no one could blackmail her. Pen could live her happily ever after with Colin and the babies.
In the book the queen isn't the one who puts out the reward, it's lady Danbury. Also, the one who reveals pen's identity is Colin, announcing he's very proud of her. That happens because Cressida is still lurking. That way, the entire ton already knows. And the bridgertons are delighted with pen being lady w. Contrary to the series, Eloise is the LAST one who finds out 😂
I hope so. I’m just sick of Benedict screwing everything in sight. Every season, he is at it. He’s worse than Anthony and Colin put together. What gives? That’s not what he was like. Sophie better be a real stunner like Jessie Mei Li, not some dude. Enough of that already. There can be woke and overly woke to the point of insomnia!😅😇
Y’all are so ridiculous, if they make all 8 seasons it’s reallly just fine if one or two are adapted to be queer, literally the whole point of the screen adaptation is to portray a version of 19th century London that’s much more inclusive of modern day values so why do you draw the line here? They’ve been honest about it from the beginning
@@lyle9793what's the point in updating 19th century values to the 21st century when it's a complete lie? The narrator in stating the series is predictable, because it follows the book storylines, has obviously neither read the books nor watched the series. I'll not be watching future series as I prefer the written stories which, though not perfect, are infinitely more enjoyable.
@@SofiiGoldingI know I can't! I am so disappointed with Michael being turned into Michaela, Benedict's s*xual experimentations completely changed his written character. Shondaland's many idiocies have put me off. Write an original story and stop giving the readers a paint-by-numbers, formulaic, series which is as unlike the books as it can be! Your changes haven't improved: they've ruined entertaining stories.
From a storytelling POV for tv it does give a sort of slow burn effect on his character growth which in his arc would as they say in scriptwriting climax in his own romance story and then finish his character arc.😅
In the book Benedict did have a mistress!!! Tilly infact!!!!! Nway I love the way he is a free spirit in the series and is mmmh and aaahh answer/ sentences is kinda funny 😂😂
Unpopular opinion: but I like the Mondrich storyline. Everyone needs a relatable character to connect with. The people of the Ton are our version of upperclass million/billionaire’s and nepo babies. Not everyone was born so privileged. It’s nice to see a “regular” family that knows the struggle of being destitute, and has worked their asses off to provide for their family, embrace their good fortune and navigate the changes brought on living in a world of wealth.
Queen Charlotte, along with Julie Andrew’s voice, is a STAPLE of the show Bridgerton! They can’t kill off the queen; it’s not as if the show is historically or literately accurate!
They totally went out to make Penelope look horrible in the first two seasons. People might have missed her wearing a plain bronze dress in season one near the end. That look was very close to glowed up Penelope.
@@SofiiGolding I didn’t notice the bronze dress. I suppose she “bloomed” in the books though didn’t she so they followed that part of the story line. Those yellow dresses were horrendous and unflattering. She look so much better in Green.
@@cottoncandyflaps4347 yeah, when Sir Featherington died, all three girls wore beautiful but plain dresses. It was a blink and miss. I rewatched season one and thought wow, Penelope looks great in bronze for five seconds, if that. Why the hell do they pan over the wonderful parts so quickly. I haaate that so much. It wasn’t as bad in the first two seasons but the writer or editor developed ADD in season three. Ugh.
@@alc4080 I don’t think women walked around with their hair down after they’re out. They would wear bonnets which the show said they got rid of. I’m fond of bedroom hair but not that century and women without sun protection would age so fast. The star is actually 37, which is great.
I think my Bridgerton journey has ended with Season 3. Not really interested in all these alternative “modern”narratives that the writers keep incorporating. Why fix something that isn’t broken?
Agreed. They did Polin so dirty in season 3. Penelope and Colin romance felt like a side note in their own season. I don't trust them to do right by the characters. And why is it taking two years to film 8 episodes!?
i loved erverything so far, but negelacting Francescas Story so fast and turning the Story, with is mainly about her desire to become a mother, to a queer one, is just forced on her. She is feeling strange in all of her Siblings present because she has an introverted character. Not because she is gay.
I feel we can get an awesome story showing Charlotte as a young mother (flashing forward to the regency again dealing with her ne'er do well kids) while showing Violet and Edmund....and more of Lady D..I still have a suspicion that she and Vi's Dad had a kid. And yes! Portia's back story!!!
Why every Bridgerton brother has to be a rake? Also, lots of book readers will be disappointed because Michael is a fan favorite. I liked the small changes they did to Kanthony story but not so much with Polin story. The changes they did every season stray farther and farther from the books that it can’t be called an adaptation anymore. 😢
I did not mind the changes from book to tv rhat much😅 because the story was still the same just told diffrently with a twistBut. The core of each couple was STILL there from beginning to end in my opinion
I really wish people would make the series of Bridgerton like the books instead of making people who are not in the book gay or lesbian just to make other people feel comfortable instead of actually coming up with their own stories of gay and lesbian characters. Show runners now have no real talent except for ruining other people's books.
I haven't read the book, but I love the show. I just hate that every movie these days always have to add a gay scene. I have no issue with the gay population. I just dont care to see it. I guess I'll just go back to the old 40's and 50 movies. Oh well, to each it's own.
Why "Michaela" ??? Why? This is so unnecessary.... like Benedicts "adventures". Benedict and Francesca have beautiful lovestorys in the books. Why change them so much. I do not like the feeling of so much beeing changed just because of ideology
I just started reading book 5 which is Francesca’s book but I have to agree they need to stick with the book and not take liberties with the ideas for the sake of ratings, views, and popular opinion. I hate that they brought a Michaela into it and thrust Benedict into a three way relationship with a widow and another man.😊
Benedict makes me sad lol Sophie Beckett is such an beautiful character and like you said in the books she helps him have more confidence with his art and inspires him and like you also said in the book in the Ball he isn’t looking for anything serious UNTIL he sees her 😭 if done correctly it will be magic.
Apart from the changes to Benedict's artistic character how will he not recognise Sophie when the actress has an ethnicity which would be as rare as hen's teeth in 1800s London? It's just not believable. Instead of striving to create a united nations, just make the programmes, as written, in keeping with the era. Audiences are intelligent enough to understand that not all ethnicities need to be represented.
@@lucying I agree! And it's aggravating when people say that their romance happened too fast; we didn't need to start from zero because we already knew so much about them, plus how much Pen loved him. All he needed to do was wake up to his own feelings, and it was beautiful and romantic!
He was pretty well featured. That's because we saw Anthony and Kate like just 3 times and there was no Daphne at all. He got pretty fair screen time but not more than Colin and Pen.
I literally was skipping the whole season just to see 1st meeting of francesca and michael , as there book is my most favourite among the whole series , cant even express how dissapointed i was to find that they literally changed the whole story by making michael a woman and it was francesca who fell for her at first sight.... sadly i wont be watching any season from now on
Michael is my favorite character. I felt exactly the same as you. I am done with this now. I have a whole list of things I could have let pass. Just because someone is an introvert doesn’t make them homosexual. This killed it for me.
@@teresalevingston6390 if you have read the book you'd know that the main romance is between francesca and michael (who was pining over her since the day he met her on wedding with his cousin john) but in the series they changed michael to Michaela i.e a woman the scene when john introduced her to francesca , and francesca was falling in first sight with Michaela which is wrong as Michael ( hero in book) was the one who was pining for her Netflix changed or I can say ruined the whole plot .
It has never been predictable: they have always created new characters that (so far) have added no meaning to the story like Mr and Mrs Mondrich…even though I assume their first born boy will end up with Hyacinth… instead of Lady Danbury’s grandson! 😵💫😵💫😵💫 Anthony and wife never went to India cause he never married an Indian and most importantly he was always a very pivotal character of the stories. Why we had Sienna in S1 is still a mystery. Eloise did not fight with Penelope about anything but definitely not about Lady Whistledown’s identity. Cressida wasn’t sent away and never blackmailed anyone. Benedict loves being an artist but when specifically asked, he denies it. WTH!!!! And he being the womanizer and the bisexual is the change nobody needed. Let alone Francesca… if you want to have freedom in order to explore new paths, create a new story like you did for Queen Charlotte! If you follow the books you can’t twist the stories dear to many as you please. And not because we are puritans, but simply because you can’t push the characters stories out of their paths.
The books were absolutely no _Harry Potter,_ not even _50 Shades of Grey,_ these stories are dear to very few of the people watching the show. And the author cosigns the changes and it's her work to do with as she pleases. Do you even know the logistical nightmare keeping them exactly to book accurate would be? And they won't be interesting translated to show if that happened. It's an *adaptation* for a reason
@@uvongcukana5440 the cost of keeping all those actors, navigating their other engagements, having the growing casts as the families grow, extra filming of all the flashbacks and the sheer amount of coordinating and managing filming so many actresses from behind the scene stuff to setting a quality stage for so many people. Then stories like Eloise's with all letter writing and an abus3r will be hard to adapt to screen, Daphne's rap3y parts just wrong, Colin's physical violence deplorable, not enough drama for Kate & Anthony for the screen, Sophie's staying on schedule across years with nothing to do, etc. And then let's not forget all the stories are pretty much the exact same story with different setting and people. Those books aren't of the right quality for faithful adaptations. Heck, even Anne of Green Gables had to change a lot to be screenworthy across a whole century.
By book accurate I think they meant keeping characters the same sex and the same proclivity. The sexual deviance makes no sense after establishing that it's still illegal. They've written in more problems than they need with trying to be inclusive in that way--and people are sick and tired of having the gay agenda in every single piece of media. Also the books were not the ensemble piece that the show has become and every season has proven how adept they are at finding highlights for smaller characters--so having Violet move out and hire Sophie to help take care of her and Hyacinth and Eloise is not would not be difficult--or have you forgotten how important the roles of maids and housekeepers were in season one? I havent. It would be really nice to get involved with the working class again. Also people seem to forget that in order for Eloise to have her happy ever after, Marina has to die...and like, soon. These writers have lost sight of the big picture and in their rush to include historically illegal activity to cater to a modern notion of romance and sexuality they have created problems for their audiences that no one wants to be invested in...which they knew would happen. Which is why they threw everything into season 3 when Netflix is famous for canceling shows after 3 seasons.
@@Rella531 sexual deviance?? Gay agenda?? Modern sensibilities?? 👀 _Girl...!_ We are the same people that have always existed just with more human rights and more technology! All those hangings in the ISIL controlled areas in the Middle East back in 2010s, the current existence of the Bacha Posh and historical figures (even just in the literary world) like Daphne Dumaurier, Willa Cather and Oscar Wilde show that repression doesn't matter when humans have to be human out and out gender non conforming and gay laws be damned.
I always assumed lady whistledowns voice, Julie Andrews, was supposed to be an aged Penelope. Why wouldn’t they keep it? We found out Pen was lady whistledown at the end of season 1. They didn’t change her before.
I was thinking the same n I wud have preferred pens identity remain a secret like forever except from her few loved ones . That wud have kept the excitement. But just my thought
It isn’t inclusivity as much as veering way far away from the Julia Quinn original storylines. I don’t understand why this always happens, changing a proven good thing? …good enough to captivate an enormous audience from the storylines in the books, why change? Just write another book and call it something else, be original, evolve old ideas of propriety if you like but taking something tried and true, loved by so many the way it is…why fix what is not broken. Just write a new story make it your own…not Bridgerton, because it’s not, not really.
Michaela 🤦♀️🤔Just imagine 5 seconds that Elizabeth Bennett who is a beautiful character in Pride and Prejudice becomes Henri Bennett and meets Mister Darcy... The book will not be the same at all, it is the same for the readers of the book Francesca if there is no Michael there is not the same story. 💔 Sorry
Is it really such a big thing if it is a woman or a man? Dont you think gay people read a lot of straight books and can read things in their perspective to connect with a story. Maybe make this an exercise for straight people - just watch it anyway. Love is love. If you can live with a fictual historical world, you should be able to deal with this surely.
Changing Francesca's story arc from Michael to Michaela ruins her story arc. From being the quite one in the family and disappointment of not having to children. To now one that she won't be able to get children at all just for 'diversity and inclusion'. Explain to me how changing this story creates diversity and inclusion. It just shows how noncreative you are. That you have to use other people's stories instead of making your own.
I totally agree the writers of the tv series should have kept Michael as a male not a female like in the book because I loved Francesca's story in the book also I was disappointed that there was nothing to do with Eloise running off and about to marry Sir Phillip Crane like it was in the book "To Sir Phillip with Love" since Eloise ran off to meet Sir Phillip Crane during the end of the book "Romancing Mister Bridgerton"
100% agree. It changes the whole core of her character and messes up the story with the overinclusion that at this point seems almost a cliché in storytelling by piggybacking on an already established world which to me seems like lazy writing
It's entirely possible she's be pregnant (like in the book) when John dies, but the baby may be kept in the story. As for Michael, after reading the book, I'm glad they are changing it. That was the worst book of the series and the character deserves so much better than the book version of Michael.
@@jenniferharrison4093 I have a feeling they might have her run away when she's in Scotland. Or at least I hope so because one of my favourite parts in Eliose's story was all the brothers 'coming to her rescue'. That was also something I was disappointed in the TV series was how Penelope was revealed in the books. I mean it made sense for the TV series. But I did enjoy in the books Colins excitement and seeing Penelope's brilliance with it that he just had to show her off.
Have you read the books to call them trashy. What you are getting on tv is only a bit of what the books are. And just because they are romance novels doesn't make them trashy. I don't like certain genres of books, but I don't go around throwing shade on them just because I don't particularly care for them. I have read a lot of romance, mystery, thrillers, and historical novels. And by far wouldn't call these trashy books, but to reach its own.
@@emmapowick If they were trash then you won't be able to see the bridgerton show😒😒they were so good that they adopted that and made season 1 and when it got success they changed the whole story even main character satisfy their modern & LGBTQ fans 😡😡and ruin the regency era novel and show.
Completely agree! I am a fan of a capital R rake completely turn a new page and be completely infatuated and in love with that one special woman aka Sophie Beckett ❤😭
I was deeply disappointed which should have been a red flag from all the press did before the release of season 3. I know u can’t follow the books exactly but there’s a lot of us who read the books and were huge fans before the show or became readers after season 1 so to be so off base seemed unnecessary. I’m already not looking forward to season 4 and I would be truly shocked if they even get anything after that. We didn’t need a gay Brigerton in cause it wasn’t in the books. They really did Francesca dirty. Even Colin and pen deserved more love. I was HuGE FAN of the books and season 1 and 2 and I’m not alone on this lol
I can't trust the new showrunner. She did an abysmal job with Polin. The first couple not to have their season concentrate on them, way too many other side characters being elevated, and leaving out important things or changing them for the sake of 21st-century flavor killed the series for me. I loved the changes in the first seasons, but changing Michael just makes me wonder how they're going to deal with Francesca's story; since Michaela can't inherit the Killmartin title, it's still based in the Regency Era, and it's been hammered how little power women have, how they have to make good matches if they want to have security, etc. They better not screw up Sophie and Benedict's story LOL. Benedict's whole being a rake is so far removed from his character in the books, but I still wish we can get Sophie and Benedict's story following the book a bit closer than Polin's mess.
I agree Polin's storyline was ruined even though the actors did an incredible job with what they were given. Their story was so far off from the book it just didn't make any sense and their love scene was horrid, not at all romantic like the book depicts. I have come to expect disappointment with this series too. Not really interested in what comes next and will probably forget it since it is taking two years in between seasons. Just my opinion though.
I dont think I will watch again if Jess Brownell is the showrunner again. She couldn’t handle Pen being a fat main character and literally did everything they could to NOT focus on the Polin love story. Very disappointed
Unlike a lot in the comments, I’m happy with multiple story lines playing out in a season. You never know how many seasons will get the green light, so rather than drag out just one storyline, having multiple covers more ground and makes sense for TV. I like a lot to be going on otherwise I get a bit bored personally.
While I mainly agree with this, I also disagree partially. The thing is, when you only have 8 episodes to develop a story, having multiple storylines means you have to thread carefully, having a balance in what to show and what to hold and when to show and when to let go. This season, for example. Polin could have had more screen time, where we see the characters actually falling in love (ok, more Colin than Pen), instead of being apart most of the time, and heatedly arguing when together. I loved them, but I felt it was really cut short because of how many things were going on. Instead of having 5 or 6 stories, you might want to focus on 3, and how those branch out, affecting all the characters. Slowly foreshadow the upcoming stories, but don't try to get as many screen time for them.
Season 3 was the worst yet. They tried to cram too much for too many characters and forced everything to be rushed and make no sense. I really hope Benedict gets justice in his season and is not just pushed to the side for the millions of other charcters the show wants to introduce. They need some new blood behind the scenes to fix the show.
I doubt they'll film series 4, let alone go beyond that to Eloise's and Francesca's stories. I'm sticking to the books going forward but won't buy another Julia Quinn book given her support of Shondaland's changes. I bought her entire back catalogue after seeing series 1. That's enough.
True. Love Bridgerton but it the Season turns into Francesca and Michaela as a couple - not interested. Love the focus on Pen/Colin, the Mondriches, Violet and Lady Danbury's brother and the Queen. Benedict is funny too - especially when he's living his best life and being a big brother to Eloise giving advice.
Like you surely can deal with a fictual historic world where a black queen is ruling and a lot of storylines from the book are interpreted differently, stretched and cut to pieces, but when two woman portray love, that's the line you draw 😂 give it a chance. Love is love.
Watched the final 4 eps last night, and was very disappointed. It was like the screenwriters for this season couldn't come up with anything of interest to continue Pen and Colin's story, so they had to throw Francesca's engagement/wedding while leaving out Elose has had a 'relationship' with Theo or finishing the Mondrich story then there is Daphne, why didn't she attend one or two weddings, etc. Everything was rushed to a conclusion like Netflix is not planning on having a 4th season.
I am looking forward to Benedicts story, I know that he is only raking around to build to his arc. Going from a free soul who doesn't want to settle down to fall deeply in love with sophie. His love match ❤ We need a ship name!
Very disappointed that I didn’t get to see enough Polin scenes and that they changed Francesca’s storyline. I don’t think I will be watching season 4 but Colin and pen did a great job
Season 3 was a letdown for me, there were too many story lines running at the same time, for me the end of Lady Whistledown is sad, It will be perfectly Ok and more meaningful if just Collin and Eloise knew the true and she could use her column to help people, the gowns for this season look like futuristics not the beautiful gowns that we used to have in season 1 and 2
Compared to past seasons, Polin had very little romance in Season 3. All the other stories detracted from their storyline. I thought Season 3 was a total mess. Maybe I'm the only one that has this opinion, but I think Luke/Nicola have more chemistry in real life than as Polin on screen.
Sorry to disagree with you but I don't think we were watching the same series...Penelope's gowns in this Season 3 were GORGEOUS! The gowns in Season 1 and Season 2 were hideous. Too loud, too many colors and adorned with too many sparkles. They reflected the characters, I know but the dresses were eyesores. I love the elegance of this season's wardrobe. Every gown, suit was breathtaking. Also, I don't believe the ending was sad at all. The ending was as expected: Pen found her own voice and she wasn't afraid to speak up for herself. Perhaps you may want to read the books, it will fill in some details and show you the evolution of the characters. I read the books and Pen's evolution is right on target.
Why does Francesca have to have a lesbian relationship with this Michaela . She does NOT have THAT TYPE OF PERSONA. So not needed. Please stop with all this nonsense of pandering. Stick to the plots of each books.😤
I could have done with less Benedict polyamory and more of the featured couple. Season 1 set the tone, but it’s all been convoluted since then. Season 1 was full of sex scenes. Tastefully done, but they were, you know…like bunnies. 😂Season 2 was a sexual dud with one 3 minute scene between Anthony and Kate. Then we got cheated on their wedding and what happened to Lady Sharma and Edwina. Just more loose ends. They should have recast Rege as Daphne and Simon SHOULD have been attending the major events in every season. I wish I was writing for the show. 😬☮️
@@roden70 I know Rege didn’t want to stay in the role. They should have recast it so the family continuity could have been preserved and we could enjoy more bits of their storyline. It really screws things up when shows have major role players just disappear, never to be seen or heard of. I am sure none of the actors would want to stick around or return for a few scenes in a season, but I wish they could. Now Francesca is married off and moved to Scotland. So apparently she didn’t get her own season, as we thought there would be. She was minimized from the start because of actor availability, and recast for season 3. Daphne is off ignoring her family. Anthony and Kate are in India. The Bridgerton world grows smaller each season. Season 4? Whatever. I have no speculation and am not excited as we will be waiting and waiting, and waiting some more. 😕
Yeah... Well, I don't trust Jess any more... I won't be watching any more seasons after how awful part 2 of season 3 was thanks to the cuts she made (among other things). No thanks...
Maybe it's just me, but I didn't think Francesca stumbled with her name out of attraction for John's cousin. I thought it was either, she was uncomfortable meeting his family so soon (thinking she would meet them in Scotland). Or, that she assumed with John saw his cousin he stated "Come and meet my new bride", so the cousin should have known who she was instead of asking her name. During a convo between Eloise and Benedict, he mentioned that something new is on the horizon (paraphrasing). This was when she was leaving and the spoke and hugged in the hallway. That seemed like foreshadowing to me.
It was obvious for some especially book readers because of 1) the name and 2) the way she stumbled is similar to the effect of true love that Violet described. Add her mixed reaction to the kiss with John and voilà
Something new on the horizon was probably foreshadowing B’s love interest Sophie which he meets at the Masquerade ball they were speaking about in the hallway
She looked a bit disappointed after their (presumably first) kiss at their wedding and stumbled over her name in the exact way Violet described meeting their father...she is definitely gay for Michaela lol
I agreed, to me, Franchesca seemed confused by meeting some family and not expecting it to happend that night and getting use to her new last name, also she is kind of akward and introvert… the fact that she had to introduce himself would be dissapointing to any new bride 🔥🔥🔥
I did not like the change from Michael to Michaela. I have read the book and like the story the way Julia Quinn wrote it. In my opinion, changing the author's story is a lack of respect . If you think you can do better than Julia, write your own stories
I don’t plan on watching any future seasons. I don’t like where the story is going or the changes they’re now making. Francesca‘s change is just too far. Seems like they’re just checking off boxes now
They could have Queen Charlotte pass away as she did in real life and replace her with her daughter-in-law, Queen Caroline, the estranged wife of King George IV. Their marital troubles could be a plot point.
I also won’t be watching Francesca’s story either. But I’m very happy to hear Benedict will fall for Sophie. I also think Julie Andrew’s voice is good to keep because when Penelope writes she is Lady Whistledown. She could just change how she signs off. Maybe “from the Penn of Lady Whistledown. “ And I will be devastated if Queen Charlotte dies. They should keep her until the very end. None of the characters should die. The joy of Bridgerton is that with the twists and turns the main good characters never die.
I can't wait to see who they have casted as colin and penelopes young son lord featherington he is going to be so adorable nicolas behind the scences shots and videos of her and luke hanging out with the young actor in between takes is going to be funny and adorable
Micheala is most likely meant to be Fran’s love interest (Micheal in the books changed to a woman in the show). But a les Eloise would make a lot of sense
@@sophiabreidfischer6242 they are happy together but shit goes down I’m not gonna spoil. Interested in how the shows going to play next season especially for Eloise
I agree! I thought that immediately! I've never read the books, so I didn't even know about a Francesca / Michael(a) romance. I think it should be Eloise and Michaela!
I love the fact you had a woman (Lady Danbury) who made it clear she would not tolerate any rakes in her family...and she would disown him completely if he hurt one of her friends.
3 seasons was enough for me. I prefer more accurate historic settings. This was regency in a galaxy far, far away But Polin were the cuttest thing indeed.
As for what I think of what Shonda is doing to the future stories in the books, I just canceled Netflix. I read the books. I loved the characters and their stories. Shonda has one less viewer for her twisted writing.
I canceled my Netflix too. I really only have it for Bridgerton. And I’m all done after this season. They ruined Polin by writing them so poorly and giving them so little screen time. They completely disrespected Benedict’s character development with such a thin, sex-obsessed story arc, and they blew up Fran’s infertility and grief storyline by having her disrespect her love with John so blatantly. I’m over it. Seriously.
And it’ll do just fine without you :) The show is still wildly popular, much more popular than it would have been if it stayed faithful to that poorly written dross. Shonda’s twisted writing made a silk purse out of sows ears 😂
I cancelled mine as well, and no regrets to be found - between canceling shadow & bone, and this god awful season of a show i loved so mich, and JB being a brainless idiot, i'm done with their sh*t.
I never watched it on tv in the uk until last week, Netflix had 3 seasons. I watched season one and omg I was hooked Iv now watched all 3 seasons can’t wait until season 4, exciting times
I think Eloise will be the next season. Her story happens off-season after Pen & Colin's wedding in the books. Francesca needs more time, but WHY would Eloise come with them, if season 4 would start with the next ball season (Benedict) and the masquerade ball? Makes no sense. I don't think that they will kill of John already, so I think we will see Eloise writing to her loved one from Scotland and then running away from there.
I disagree because in the books polin get married at 28 and 32 so I think Benedict is next also because they had wayyy too much Benedict scenes in season 3 to set him up for season 4
What the actual f**k that francessca will be in love with a girl like in the book it's def Michael not michaela, really dissapointed that they changing the story line shonda needs to work on it,the story is off the track
I honestly am just going to dropped the Bridgerton show at this point. The changes they make in the show are quite unnecessary and cause more of a set back in progress for all the other Bridgerton stories. Like, the friendship being broken between pen and Eloise in S2. That was entirely unnecessary and not needed. The addition of changing the gender of Michaela was also not really needed. It’s like they’re just trying to make the show more up to the standard with the ideology of people nowadays. I think I’m going to stop at S3 with Bridgerton.
the show was ruined by the new show runner, season 1 & 2 were perfect in my opinion and the show actually felt like a ROMANCE show like how it’s supposed to be. with the fat phobia and modernization of everything in the show, it ruined it. everything feels cheap and half assed lmao pls get a new show runner PLEASEEE 🙏 i love this show sm and don’t want to drop it.
I think they should have went in book order This would have given Collin and Pen more time and build chemistry. Also revealing Pen as lady Whistle down was way to quick in the series. As far as Francesca I was enjoying her and Johns sweet story, however its now a no go. PLUS THIS IS THE FIRST YEAR WHERE I FAST FORWARD the throuple ,club owner and his family, and Violet story line I know in the books Pen and Lady Danbury become close and this is why Pen names her daughter after her. I wish they would have kept that storyline . Has anyone heard the line if its not broke don't fix it? Well that's how I feel. I feel cheated but then again I remember how netflix is The first 2 seasons are great then after that it falls flat. SHOULD WE BLAME THE WRITERS STRIKE. I think not because the outline has been out for years. Also since the show is mixing up People i would like to see Benedict w a beautiful girl from the orient decent. She could whip him into shape.
Nah nothing to do with the writers strike. JB all but came out and admitted that she's projecting her life into the characters. Should have written her own books to adapt
@@gisellegrell there’s an article where JB talks about this and her self-inserting herself as Francesca in her story. Like GTFO, it legit is the most absurd and the most insulting thing I’ve ever read. maybe she needs to consider another career, if she can’t separate herself from her art. I can’t believe Netflix allowed these agendas on this show. she literally took Francesca being introvert and being different from her siblings as “gay” honestly she has no brain cells , literally the dumbest shit I have ever heard. Because being introvert translates to being queer apparently- it’s infuriating!
@@paracoco1761 omg but can they atleast yearn for me, have restless nights, be jealous AND for gds sake be good with words like: I burn for you. I can't sleep at night for wanting you. Even when I didn't like you, I lusted for you. It's the most maddening, beguiling, damnable thing, but there it is. I'm blushing writing this...
I honestly love the Colin/ Penelope arc, because it hits close to home to me in some aspects. Sadly their “happy-I love you soooo much”-time came much too short in S3. I’m not sure if I’ll hang around for the other love stories in the upcoming seasons, or just watch Polin scenes, because TO ME the other storylines seem to be quite cliché (not that Polin was necessarily unique, but it struck a chord in me) and uninteresting. TBH it’s probably gonna be just more s*x anyway 😂
They kind of killed my love for Benedict 😂 I am not looking forward for the next season anymore which is ok, because my expectations are really low. Anyway, I will have enough time to entertain myself with other things and wait for second season of Maxton hall 😅. Haha
Why don't they make Eloise story the attachment with Michaela. Eloise has always spurred romance with men and has not been particularly interested in babies. Francesca wanted children in her story and a husband why mess with that?
Its not the gender swapping per se. It doesnt make sense as a story line. Michael's guilt over coveting his cousin's wife is compounded when his cousin dies leaving him with the title causing more guilt. So much guilt that he leaves England for four years. Since women cant inherit a title, a Michaela story line would completely take the books in a different direction. It just doesnt make sense. That and Benedict's sexcapades. Just write another entire series and call it something different than Bridgerton.
Very disappointed making the show woke. The throuple wasn’t needed nor the McKayla storyline. You want to add LGBTQ then do it in the background not with the major characters. Shonda is trying to be woke instead of leaving the story the way it was written.
I don't mind Michael/a being a woman...I DO however mind that they set it up like she was making Francesca's heart skip a beat. That is a COMPLETELY different vibe that what the original love story was supposed to be. I was looking forward to Francesca and John being happy and then tragedy happening and finally the love between her and Michael/a blooming. Was it really so hard to give us that love story?
they fu*ed up big time from my point of view with Francesca. I get that you want to adapt but changing the ml's gender just to check a box it's an-excusable which is why I'm not going to be watching that season.
What if Mondrics are related to Sophie in some way? Mrs. Mondric had a noble aunt (Lady Kent), what if the line "None of your cousins have male children" means something?🤔
I am getting a tad bit tired of Mondrich. Sophie is an illegitimate daughter of an Earl of Penwood. Are we woke enough to accept an English Eurasian actress like Jessie Mei Li? I wouldn’t mind. Lady Tilly looks way too much like Cressida. Pass.
They may make Sophie a relative of one of the Mondrich’s, which gives another reason to there story focus besides their son and him being a possible love interest for Hyacinth in the future.
They made Francesca out to be such an ass. Few days into marriage and she’s already emotionally cheating on her husband. Especially after pursuing this match so much. It made me lose so much respect for her character.
@@JamesBrown-ij1px sorry my BAD I don't have Netflix but if I did have it I would be watching it o love Period Historical television the last thing I watched that was a period show was the White Queen
I think S1 & S2 has been amazing. Queen Charlotte the best. ❤❤❤ And now this? Polin deserved more screen time and felt like they incorporated way too may sideplots. I don't mind the changes... but also fear Francesca's interest in a woman. How would that work in regency era? It undermind the sweet love story iof hers and John's. Violet deserves new love so I liked that line. Love Benedict, even if I could have done less threesome & surprisingly enjoyed Kanthony. BUT the Mondrages story line was sooo unnecesery. Also Cressida deserved somehow better I believe.
I just want to continue seeing Penelope if they remove her like others I wouldnt watch anymore tbh. She is a constant force. Also I feel no gossip equals no bridgerton right?
Without a doubt, I would leave Julia Andrews' voice, it's iconic! And the column signed by Penelope Bridgerton.... JA's voice is Pen's imaginary voice in her column, it could perfectly continue like this! It's classic to hear her in every scene opening.
If Pen and Colin had as much chemistry as they do in interviews during their actual love scenes this would have been a great series. There was only one major love scene between the two of them and I question whether or not that has to do with the industry's issues with " size ". Not to mention Colin looks like a trout when he's trying to kiss Pen and Pen looks like a goldfish all puckered up. The scenes were so uncomfortable and they didn't have to be! I'd also like to say that I'm tired of shows making alterations when the source material is right freaking there!!! Just write a screenplay that follows the same storyline as the books. Colin has always been concerned about finding his place as a younger brother and finding a cause or passion to follow. He doesn't realize what that is until he finds out that Pen is Whistledown when he follows her to a church where she drops off the manuscript. That discovery opens up discussions between him and Penn about what his true calling could be. It adds a serious depth of character to both of and conflict between them a week as opening them up and bringing them together as a team instead of the series that just focuses on their glow ups! Also in the books his journals are about his travels and his experiences and how he grows as a person but in the series it's just about how many women he hooked up with! They go away from the source material and they end up having shallow characters! Ugh. I think this season lost me. And why is it that every time a young gentleman on the show becomes more of a man He turns into a he slut? This season it was almost like they were afraid to do love scenes between Penn and Colin because they didn't know how to address body issues, let's just put it out there so they added this storyline with Benedict in a threesome with a dude to spice it up because the love scenes with Pen and Colin were lacking. Why? That never happened in the books. He was never a hoe. They want to bring all this diversity into the series that didn't exist in the books by changing gender and cultural origin but they're still sticking to the gender norms of the more women men sleep with the cooler they are and the more men women sleep with the sluttier they are. It's so irritating!
I will skip the season about Francesca. Because Francesca's story is not my favorite. But I will wait for Eloise & Sir Philip's story and also Hyacinth & Gareth's story. If they are going to ruin the story of those two couples. I will definitely give a bad rating. Come on.... I love Julia Quinn's novels, seeing them change the story makes me feel betrayed. Damn.
How about the really bad writing and direction of this season? Also, it can hardly be called inclusivity when right off the bat Bridgeton let us know this is a hyper realised version of the world and that era
I’m low key hoping for a Edmund and violet story kind of how they did Queen Charlotte

I cried so hard when Julie Andrews's voice changed to Pen's. I will miss Julie Andrews she is always the Queen
She is a Dame for a reason
She can still be the voice, as Pen’s future voice looking back on her youth.
They need to keep Julie as lady whistle down Do not kill off Julie Andrew’s voice or the queen…. They both add too much to the show…
Me suddenly thinking Julie Andrew’s passed away. 🤦🏽♀️ I think she will continue to be used.
She is a true treasure.
Contrary to the series, Eloise is the LAST one who finds out 😂
@@theninjacat7200 the show is a standalone piece, we don't have to read the book to better understand the show
Non si cosa hai visto ma ti confondi con il libro.
Yeah idk if the queen would have let herself be bested in such away or at least in her eyes.

The narrator in stating the series is predictable, because it follows the book storylines, has obviously neither read the books nor watched the series.
I'll not be watching future series as I prefer the written stories which, though not perfect, are infinitely more enjoyable.

In the books Benedict is not reek. His only passion is art. But show runners turned him into a gigolo.
From a storytelling POV for tv it does give a sort of slow burn effect on his character growth which in his arc would as they say in scriptwriting climax in his own romance story and then finish his character arc.😅

But there'd be a lot of gossip generated by George IV and his marital situation.
I can't imagine them killing her off.
I can’t believe how well they glowed Penelope up, she went from frumpy with awful hair styles to absolutely stunning!

I second that👆👆
I agree! I couldn’t even finish season 3. I don’t want to continue watching the stories I loved ruined by forcing current issues into them.
We need another Season of Queen Charolette ! The Back story Portia would be interesting.
Aah agreed!!😍
Yes Portia!!! That would be great.
I prefer Violet’s back story.
Have grown to love Portia. She’s more complex than I thought.

Ask Shonda, Colin was supposed to be a virgin but she said NO for toxic masculinity
Did not like Michael at all. He was an ass.
I really wish people would make the series of Bridgerton like the books instead of making people who are not in the book gay or lesbian just to make other people feel comfortable instead of actually coming up with their own stories of gay and lesbian characters. Show runners now have no real talent except for ruining other people's books.
Bought and paid for. They can do as they wish
Please, if they made Bridgerton like the books, all the male characters would be hated because they were all toxic and abusive in the books.
I haven't read the book, but I love the show. I just hate that every movie these days always have to add a gay scene. I have no issue with the gay population. I just dont care to see it. I guess I'll just go back to the old 40's and 50 movies. Oh well, to each it's own.
DC comics tried to do the very same thing with Gay Superboy and Bi Robin no. 3.
They lost millions on that decision and people even lost their jobs.
Eu tem não gostei dessa ênfase dada a gays e lésbicas. Queria ver mais o amor de Colin e Penelope.
Why "Michaela" ??? Why? This is so unnecessary.... like Benedicts "adventures". Benedict and Francesca have beautiful lovestorys in the books. Why change them so much. I do not like the feeling of so much beeing changed just because of ideology
Totally agree. It just feels that in the name of being inclusive they are destroying the essence of these amazing stories
I just started reading book 5 which is Francesca’s book but I have to agree they need to stick with the book and not take liberties with the ideas for the sake of ratings, views, and popular opinion. I hate that they brought a Michaela into it and thrust Benedict into a three way relationship with a widow and another man.😊
I liked Michael in the book. I can't like a Michaela. I'm not gonna watch again.
Agreed.
If you’re honest with yourself, you would admit that most of the changes have been an improvement.
Precisely💖 It can become a dream🥹
This ship has sailed, they made Benedict bi. 😢 I don't care what happens from now on. It's ruined for me anyways.
Half of season 3 was on Benedict... Which is not even his own season. . this is not fair at all
Colin and Penelope’s story has played out over the last 3 seasons, it’s not like viewers have missed out on it.
Realistically, as each season takes about 2 years to get to screen, they have to start making each season about more than one Bridgerton sibling.
What show were you watching? Yes he was included but it wasn’t “only” about it 🥴
@@lucying I agree!

Michael is my favorite character. I felt exactly the same as you. I am done with this now. I have a whole list of things I could have let pass. Just because someone is an introvert doesn’t make them homosexual. This killed it for me.

Netflix changed or I can say ruined the whole plot .
Not liking the change from Michael... love the story of Francesca and Michael .. was so sweet...
@@availanilahow would it be a logistical nightmare to keep it book accurate?

Totally agree! It’s one of the few stories that makes NO SENSE to change
It's entirely possible she's be pregnant (like in the book) when John dies, but the baby may be kept in the story. As for Michael, after reading the book, I'm glad they are changing it. That was the worst book of the series and the character deserves so much better than the book version of Michael.

They've already ruined Benedict's character by changing him from a free-spirited artist to an experimental idiot.
I won't be watching if it's different from the books, I loved the books so much
I felt like only half of the season was for actual Penelope and Collin. I needed way more for that story
I can’t believe how grown up Gregory and Hyacinth are. The young lady that plays Hyacinth is beautiful.
Literally so bored of the “rake turned gentleman” plot
That’s the genre tho. It’s just the way regency romance novels go.
I dont think I will watch again if Jess Brownell is the showrunner again. She couldn’t handle Pen being a fat main character and literally did everything they could to NOT focus on the Polin love story. Very disappointed
Adding that threesom with Benedict was totally disconnected. He should have focused on 🎨 art. He should have not agreed to the 3some.
@@lalalalalalalala8111 I agree totally!!!
She said she gender swapped Michael so she could see herself reflected on screen. IT'S NOT ABOUT YOU JESS. She's ruined Francescas story.
@happydaze7976 I made to read dat twice. Lol
@@blusskyy yes u explained this PERFECTLY!!
I agree all over the place
@poetriot yes, I watched two times just to be sure, I wasn't imagining my disappointment. Then to wait 2 years for s4. They can't do better than that.
I doubt they'll film series 4, let alone go beyond that to Eloise's and Francesca's stories.
I'm sticking to the books going forward but won't buy another Julia Quinn book given her support of Shondaland's changes. I bought her entire back catalogue after seeing series 1. That's enough.
If it’s about Francesca and michaela im NOT WATCHING
👌
I agree
One of the worst decisions of the show runner - Michaela😞
Agree and they have ruined Benedict's character
I am looking forward to Benedicts story, I know that he is only raking around to build to his arc. Going from a free soul who doesn't want to settle down to fall deeply in love with sophie. His love match ❤ We need a ship name!
Benedie?
Benophie perhaps

I want a lot of Polin scenes in Benedict's season like how they gave us so much Benedict in Polin's season. 😏
Book Michael tries to get Francesca pregnant to force her to marry him, I’m glad they change the books because the book characters are far from great
I could have done with less Benedict polyamory and more of the featured couple. 😬☮️
i literally skipped all the scenes with that. it felt like boring filler.
Yeees agree that Benedict's sexscenes were soooo boring. And felt random in-between like interesting conflict between Pen's family and so
It's actually not their fault you don't see Simon anymore. The actor declined after the first season, being afraid to be type cast in the future.
@ishara_priestess Lady Danbury did say she was sponsor Lady Sharma and Edwina. I hate they got left out..
Absolute crime against the books
It is I'm sure.
The author herself was involved in the gender swap.
I also don't like changing Michael to Michaela. I think that Francesca should marry another man
4:03 4:04 4:07 4:08 4:09
I like that they are using more than one person per story, I think it's brilliant!!
Benedict plays both sides and if I was Sophie I’d run the heck away
I don’t plan on watching any future seasons. I don’t like where the story is going or the changes they’re now making. Francesca‘s change is just too far. Seems like they’re just checking off boxes now
They could have Queen Charlotte pass away as she did in real life and replace her with her daughter-in-law, Queen Caroline, the estranged wife of King George IV. Their marital troubles could be a plot point.
I heard she will NOT pass away
Queen doesn’t die till 1818. So I think she will still be there. Are we gonna replace her with Prinny? Gag me.
Shonda said ''the Queen's not going anywhere'' ❤
@@happydaze7976not a surprise given the show is Shondaland's version of the British monarchy.
Eloise is the one who I feel is most likely to get into a lesbian relationship in Scotland. She likes extrovert people which Micaela seemed to be.
Micheala is most likely meant to be Fran’s love interest (Micheal in the books changed to a woman in the show). But a les Eloise would make a lot of sense
@@Kya0565yes I though Fran and Kilmartin were happy together so I assumed the cousin would be an interest for Eloise. I dont read the books though

I agree! I thought that immediately! I've never read the books, so I didn't even know about a Francesca / Michael(a) romance. I think it should be Eloise and Michaela!
It’ll be so annoying if they change Francesca’s story but not being back Theo for Eloise
No, it doesn’t really follow the books! Very disappointed with the Benedict story and Francesca story.
Tired of celebtating men getting run through, "Rake" is just a nice way to say it.
So is hoe
I love the fact you had a woman (Lady Danbury) who made it clear she would not tolerate any rakes in her family...and she would disown him completely if he hurt one of her friends.
I’m lost what is “Rake”?
3 seasons was enough for me. I prefer more accurate historic settings. This was regency in a galaxy far, far away
But Polin were the cuttest thing indeed.
They need to stick to the books
😂
I cancelled mine as well, and no regrets to be found - between canceling shadow & bone, and this god awful season of a show i loved so mich, and JB being a brainless idiot, i'm done with their sh*t.
I daresay Netflix will lose many book-fans with its changes.
I'm another who's lost interest preferring the books!
Maybe she'll meet Philip in season 4 but it won't be her season until 5
I still want Eloise with Theo since they had that great chemistry.
What the actual f**k that francessca will be in love with a girl like in the book it's def Michael not michaela, really dissapointed that they changing the story line shonda needs to work on it,the story is off the track
@@abdullahtunes3200 it's off the rails.
I thought that two a
Let's not forget how long it's going to take. S4 2026???
the show was ruined by the new show runner, season 1 & 2 were perfect in my opinion and the show actually felt like a ROMANCE show like how it’s supposed to be. with the fat phobia and modernization of everything in the show, it ruined it. everything feels cheap and half assed lmao pls get a new show runner PLEASEEE 🙏 i love this show sm and don’t want to drop it.
2 years!!! i can't wait that long :(

In the books it’s Lady Danvury’s grandson Gareth St. Claire.
I had a feeling that’ll happen because they were all playing together
Yes gareth is dead
That would be cute
probably. bc i think itd be more satisfying than introducing another whole new part of lady danbury's family
I think they should have went in book order
This would have given Collin and Pen more time and build chemistry.
Also revealing Pen as lady Whistle down was way to quick in the series.
As far as Francesca
I was enjoying her and Johns sweet story, however its now a no go.
PLUS THIS IS THE FIRST YEAR WHERE I FAST FORWARD the throuple ,club owner and his family, and Violet story line
I know in the books Pen and Lady Danbury become close and this is why Pen names her daughter after her. I wish they would have kept that storyline .
Has anyone heard the line if its not broke don't fix it? Well that's how I feel.
I feel cheated but then again I remember how netflix is
The first 2 seasons are great then after that it falls flat.
This is soo sad😢😢 ,so disappointed about all this , the only good show on Netflix and this happens
They could totally leave the voice and make it seem at its end that it was Penelope's remembrances of what happened at the end of her life.
Bingo! I was wondering if they were going to keep Lady Whistledown's mature voice and how they'd do it moving forward.
I think i may not be watching Season 4. Lady whistledown is central to the stories, unveiling her identity seems to kind of ended it.

Unfortunately, with all these changes, I doubt we'll end up getting all 8 seasons.
Have the writers read the books
Maybe Sophie will gonna be Mondrichs relative/ friend , or stepchild of their friends/ relatives:)
I like it needed at least 2 more episodes
I won't be watching Francesca story
Me neither.
I didn’t like the lgbtq thing which seems so forced
@@EnolaElorieYeah I was so happy with Francescas marriage it didnt even occur to me that she and the cousin were gonna be a thing.

What if Mondrics are related to Sophie in some way? Mrs. Mondric had a noble aunt (Lady Kent), what if the line "None of your cousins have male children" means something?🤔
True, it was mentioned in the books that Sophie was her father's out of wedlock child
Pass.
I really want Simon and Daphne back. Their chemistry and relationships are much better than Anthony and Kate's
They may make Sophie a relative of one of the Mondrich’s, which gives another reason to there story focus besides their son and him being a possible love interest for Hyacinth in the future.

Damn.
Is it just me or the "inclusivity", is starting to ruin the show
How about the really bad writing and direction of this season? Also, it can hardly be called inclusivity when right off the bat Bridgeton let us know this is a hyper realised version of the world and that era
It's not just you, trust me
Nope not just you.
It’s not just you. It definitely is ruining it!!!
