i put the bag(+mini emptor) and head from my Avalir 1 on my G4 with the hose switch activated. holy cow what a beast! huge difference. also switched the belts. the one from my G4 must be newer cuz it definitely grabs better. think i will order up a couple belts from Ebay.
Been thinking of doing that emtor upgrade to my Gsix. I would do it to my Diamond Edition but because I want everything to match in color I won’t because they don’t make that style emtor with the Ultimate G colors lol.
You need ritalin.. but hell i went through the trouble of upgrading the motor by using the one off of a 10A shop vac.. fitment was spot on but damn thing just sucks itself down to the floor and cant move it.. on concrete…. I tried it on carpet but it just tries to eat it.. wondering if a head mod would help.. like maybe drill out some blow off ports in it and put some spring flaps so they only open when it gets suction cupped to stuff…

Very nice upgrade. I too call it "the head" and not "the power nozzle" as my mom called it that too. They bought their Classic brand new so I assume that was also the name used in the demo.
Nice upgrades. You could also upgrade the fan to the current design. They balanced out the airflow to produce zero centrifugal force and upgraded the fan material to Kevlar, which is a bullet proof plastic. Kirby claims that 1,000 US dimes can be vacuumed up before the fan will chip and that the air flow balancing increased the CFM a bit. I’m not sure if the motor of the Avalir 2 was also upgraded but there are rumors it was, at least in the US market.
I have several older Kirby's. Omega, Classic, Tradition, and Heritage. They all have a screw type brush roll adjustment. Could you make a vid on how to properly adjust the brush roll .

Brilliant idea to swap the head shell to upgrade the brush rollwe, but why not leave the G4 belt lifter so it still looks like a standard G4? The lever is nice to help remove the belt, but it's not like you have small hands that have trouble turning it.
@@KirbyEnthusiast Turning the lever on my G4 is a problem for me. I've looked at the upgrade suggestions and decided to get a Sentria 2 head complete to give me the pet brush roll and not have to worry about changing the belt lifting lever. Won't look like a G4 anymore though lol. Still sourcing a mini emptor.

does a genuine kirby belt always have "Made In America" printed on it?
Trying to figure out whether to get the G4 or Avilir 2! I keep seeing you rave about the G4 but the shampoo system on the Avalir is whats attracting me (I have 2 very dusty dogs lol) is there a shampoo system for the G4 or is it Interchangeablefrom other models? And do you have a video for it? Thank you for all the great content!
The Avalir shampoo system will fit on a G4 , and is a lot better system due to the mop and grout attachment aswell as tray the tray being easier to empty . I have done comparison video with both I’ll post link here .th-cam.com/video/k5RtcM7uQJ4/w-d-xo.html
I have a G4, this looks very interesting. I love my Kirby as far as power and pickup of dog hair. My question is What is the significant difference between the brush rolls that would make you want to upgrade?
The later style brush roll is oblique . Meaning it has stiffer bristles ., So it grooms the carpet fibres with more agitation., So the pick is improved considerably.
@@KirbyEnthusiast A couple of questions - The power nozzle you have linked on amazon is actually a G5, does it matter if it's G5 or G6? They do have the G6 for a couple of dollars more. The brush roller seems to be the same. Also the mini emptor link on amazon seems to be the old style. It doesn't have it completely put together like the one you showed. I need a new outer bag so I was able to find a "Kirby Vacuum Cleaner Outer Cloth Bag Complete W Emptor Boot AVALIR 187914G BLACK" on Ebay. It looks like the newer style like the G10. I'm hoping these are the right parts. I love my Kirby and if these changes can make it more efficient, then I'm definitely upgrading.
@@shabazz18 if it’s a grey fan in the g4 I’d upgrade it to the newer one as the grey ones had a tendency to be more brittle and shatter if hard object hit them
I upgraded the mini emtor to a avalir emtor with fill tube and F connector, as far as the brushroll I'm going to buy the newer oblique one and drill a hole in the other end of the brushroll and move the sensor magnet to the other side so that way I can still use the G4 nozzle. 😉
@KirbyEnthusiast I probably would if one comes up in my area but the cheapest I've seen lately is a whole vacuum for $50. And if I get one of those I'll want to refurbish it and have a nother kirby in my collection. Hahaha. But yes that would be a better option just to get a newer nozzle. Than you for the advice 👍
I’m going to upgrade my G5 with the new style mini emptor. Since you upgraded your G4 with the new style. I thought I should to my G5 as well. Does the G4 and the G5 have the same power motor? I’d love to get my G5 as powerful as your G4.
I think know the G3 - G5 had the older tech drive which moved a lot quicker . Kirby adjusted the bias on them so they weren’t so aggressive on later model . Making them easier to control .

How do you activate the hose switch while the head is on? Does the new Avalir floor head push the hose switch on older models?

Wouldn’t flipping the end caps & placing the magnet on the opposite end of the oblique brush roll have worked?
No the brush roll is shaped in a v formation . It would be sweeping outwards instead of towards the middle . I explained that in my video. .

As far as Kirby have informed me here the motor is the same from G6 straight through to avalir 2. I will be looking more into this in the future

Right below and pinned to the top ., G6 Head or power nozzle i bought 2nd hand off local marketplace. But you can get them off ebay or gumtree

You can just get a G5 or later replacement head as I did . Think I paid. $10 for mine off Facebook marketplace or eBay . Been a few yrs now .

The G5 motor dropped down to 600 watts from what I remember for some reason not sure why when it had same emtor as the G4
