Captain Planet is an American thing that I, someone who also grew up in Southeast England, experienced only through references made by other pieces of American media. If it did exist over here, it was easy to avoid and never talked about.

@Frank Marsh Exactly and even including everything thats happened this he still decided in this episode to break up with someone he loved because he knew she had to murder people to follow her beliefs in preserving nature. Theres nothing deranged about making that decision. Id arguably say this is the least deranged version of morty lol. Imagine when he was going on a rampage in the purge episode compared to this. People just be saying anything.
Although calling some who's underage "mature" to justify being in a relationship is obviously messed up in real circumstances, Morty has spent at least a year or two in places with slowed down time. On top of the fact that Planetina isn't even a human, and Morty has been with much older human chicks.
You can tell Rick's influence is rubbing off onto Morty.

I don't know the elemental ring bearers were Asshats who wanted to sell planetina and who profited of her and are actively working again planetina goals and endangered her live , the mine workers while destroying the planet for greed need a job making Mortys killing more justifiable hell i would planetina killing the politician more justifiable because he is actually creating and upholding the system preventing the miners from another job.

She's a sentient and sapient, elemental amalgam, like Captain Planet. Like a personification of the different elementals combined.
No way to excuse Morty’s murders to get Planetina to himself, and then say she’s just evil for killing the mine workers. If anything, he’s selfish and she’s altruistic, in both cases the murders are morally wrong. Morty isn’t a mature adult despite what he has experienced during his time with Rick. He still behaves like a petulant child a lot. He becomes more knowledgeable and worldly, but also more selfish and cynical (a la Rick).
Pretty sure it’s entirely intentional on the writer’s part. Morty serves as an ideological stand-in for what we believe in as kids/young adults, but experience grinds down ideals into practical, rational self-interest. Does doing this get me something I want? Okay then.
