when you go out shopping on your own (with just your guide dog) how do you know what shop you are going into?
also when you go to eat somewhere alone how do you pick what dish to have, does someone read the whole menu or do you let them know what sort of thing, like pasta, you want so they can just tell you what pasts they have?
watching you has made me realise just how much i take for granted as a sighted person!

For the menu thing, I think she asks for a Braille menu first, and if they don't have it, well, they have to read the whole thing to her.

She can look up the menu on her phone too for most places! She mentioned that in a video. When she goes alone her guide dog knows where to go. :)

You are such an inspiration. In August I woke up blind, which completely freaked me out. My vision has returned since then, only to lose it two more times. Each time it has returned, but this past week I was finally diagnosed with a condition that has the ability to rob me of my vision permanently. Each time the subject presented itself, I always kept you in mind. Always! While I have no idea how I would make a living as a newly blind individual, I knew I would be alright. Thankfully, I am not to that point yet, and if I should go blind, I hope it is much more gradual that what I experienced in August.

Molly, I really needed this video right now! I am legally blind and about to move again this summer. I have moved several times over the past few years, and I'm getting pretty weary of it. I'm embarrassed to say that I've been feeling a little sorry for myself about having to move alone again, but watching your video really lifted my spirits. Now I'm trying to be excited about the adventures ahead instead of focussing on the stress of moving. Thank you for the encouragement that you bring to so many people! You are awesome. -Debbie

Molly, your inner light shines so bright! It is such a pleasure to hear about the new chapter in your life. One priority that I didn't hear about your move was to find a good vet for Gallop. We always hope that we don't need one in an Emergency, but it would be good to get established with a local vet. You probably already thought of this because you are so considerate of Gallop, but I just wanted to share my thoughts, in case this one slipped through the cracks with everything else going on. Also, I want to say that your mom is awesome. You are so fortunate to have her support, but I'm sure you know that, too.

Rachael H Most grocery stores will help guide the blind when there is no one else with them. I have actually watched a video on the topic and they went to the store and a clerk walked around the store with them and helped. I cant remember the channel name, but maybe you could search for it?

Molly, I used to live in LA for five 1/2 years, and went everywhere I needed to go utilizing the public transit systems they have to offer. I along with a massive amount of people in LA, both sided and blind/vision impaired, Utilize the Culver City bus, LA bus, metro rail, Metro Link and the Expo line. I also found the area in which I lived to be very walkable. I know you have your mama bear and lots of other people there to help you, but if you ever need anything, please don’t hesitate to reach out. It’s Sammie with guide dog Mozart.

Thanks for explaining the visa. Really interesting. As a U.S. citizen (I want to move to LA too from WA State), I really did not know of this subset of visa. I looked it up, and you’re good for three years. Yay! And unlimited renewals after. Perhaps one day you’ll also get citizenship, and have three citizenships! Very cool.
Welcome to the United States! I’m glad that with some of what has gone on in the last year (particularly in regards to immigrants), people are still encouraged and excited to be here. Most of us here are descendants of other places-my mom’s side went from Ireland to Canada to the U.S.-so let’s keep that traditional around!

Welcome to LA! It's such a fun city to explore and although the pub trans system isn't great, there's still a lot you can get to using the train. Since you like trying new restaurants, one of my favorites is Wurstkuche, which is a bratwurst/beer place really close to the Little Tokyo/Arts District stop on the gold line. That whole area is fun to explore and also isn't far from Downtown.

Hey, congrats on your move to LA! I have a question: could you do a video about O&M tricks you use? I think everyone has different tricks they learn over time, and sharing could be cool. I'm still figuring out cane technique and I'm realizing I've accidentally, in a good way, picked up a few environmental cues on my campus I was never previously aware of. Such as the sun suddenly hitting my face tells me when I've passed a building and need to turn.

I never lived in Los Angeles, but I do have a restaurant there that I LOVE! My husband and I drove there from San Diego several times. It’s called Coco Ichibanya, it’s a Japanese curry restaurant. My first experience with this restaurant was in Japan, where it’s a very common chain restaurant. When we moved to San Diego, I was super excited to learn they had one a few hours north. They actually have one in San Diego now, but I’m no longer in Cali. But that’s okay because I’m back in Japan only 15 minutes from one 😂

Sign that all your efforts to put information out there and raise awareness about blindness, and disability issues in general, are working: 149 comments were left already as I am leaving mine, and no one questioned the part of the video where you say "I don't see my editor"... I remember your videos from a year ago, and even more recent ones, where the comment section was filled with people wondering why you would say something like that. It looks like more people now understand that you are not going to use different language because of your situation. Keep up the good work!

Omg wow!! I just started watching you like last week.. and you’re in LA now??? Hi I’m Denise.. I have Stargardt’s Disease and need everything large print. Aside from that I have no peripheral vision.
One thing about living in LA. There is a subway system. I was yelled at by an elderly woman due to me sitting on the reserved seats for the handicap or seniors.. I did NOT see the sign and started crying by how this woman was yelling at me..
If you don’t already know. You can get a handicap/disabled bus pass from Union Station for the bus system TAP. There is the Metrolink, Subway, and bus systems. Due to the traumatic experience by that woman, I was able to get the disabled pass with the help of my low vision specialist.
I’m not sure which part of LA you are but I’m 30 minutes east out of LA. Hoping you’re doing well

Sophie Mattes If you have health issues, I am just going to say do some deep research. My brother died last month because he couldnt get the care he needed, but maybe things will go better for you.

Sophie Mattes Move to Canada instead, your chances at succeeding in the economy and getting the proper healthcare are waaaaaay better here than down south

Omg Molly we both said the same thing. I just recently moved 1500 miles away from where I was born and raised. It took me 30 something years to figure it out but I finally said I don’t need to live forever where I was born. I can move away. It’s ok. Now I live in sunny Florida.
