I think this fatality is a homage to Jago's fatality in Killer Instinct. In that game Jago did the same but instead of an arcade machine, he dropped a car on his opponent.

I remember watching my cousin do these back when we were little. His explanation for the... egregious number of limbs, was because the Kombatants had some kind of regenerative ability until they're proper destroyed.

I remember it from Trilogy, my buddy and I spent HOURS unlocking everything, learning the brutalities (I learned Ermac's first!), and having a blast!
