I'm just glad we get a follow-up to Autumn Roars Thunder and Witch Hunts, man. I get an old Dimmu vibe on this so I'm hopeful for the rest. Also cool to hear what I'm guessing is Johanna here (that new Auri album is ace).
This song is telling a pain story, an agony and desperation so the voice should sound like that, many people misunderstood this voice, but for sure is part of the story, this band is a really old school black metal, not easy for many ears, this band is like the elite of Finnish metal,
You absolutely need to listen also some of their old material, for example Darkwoods My Betrothed - Inside the circle of stones. It has very nice mixture of raw metal with glooming synths
First time listening to this track I wasn't bit on the vocals either as they seemed to lack power, but I was looking for the power in the wrong place. In the context of the track it really is there and even on the second listen they're growing on me.
One of the positive outcomes of the novel Corona virus pandemic without which they most likely would not have had the time to work on the new album after 23 years. P.S. I'm with Antonio about the vocals.
I didn't like the vocals either. It's not how he sang, it was the quality of his voice. Reminded me of some pictures I saw of evil alien creatures living underground. Just.. no. Other elements of the track were great, but the vocals threw me off.
I was amazed how well they managed to keep the overall sound and feeling over the 23-year break. Seems like a perfect follow-up to Witch Hunts.

I love this band!!! I found them because my mom bought the Sacrament Of Wilderness single and they were on it!

That's why Kai is not human. Whatever he plays it fits to style. Is it Max on the Rocks or Rotten Sound it just fits.
Vocals are instantly reminded me of Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult, which is great by the way :)
