In the end you can not go really wrong with any speaker in the Super Champ X2 or XD in my opinion. But as said to me the Copperhead and Ragin Cajun seems to be the best upgrade maybe.

Yes, there is a massive difference in tone. I don’t think it’s better though. Some clarity got lost in the mids. Sounds like the cajun breaks up easily and squashes the mids. A lot of highs got lost too even with a Strat
I got a new X2 head about four years ago and run it through a gutted Fender Princeton 65 ss amp combo converted to cabinet. The speaker is a Fender designed Eminence 12 inch and was already WELL broken in. This improvised rig sounds REALLY, REALLY good.....

The cream colored version with the brownish front? I believe that is the actual Ragin' Cajun version Fender released if I'm not mistaken so you may have that and if so yes the decibel level is noticeably higher than the stock speaker. Try the Eminence "Copperhead" as it's more balanced and the decibel level is a little higher than the stock speaker but more manageable than the RC.
I've never yet heard a Ragin Cajun demo that made me want one; just the opposite is true. I now have a Weber Alnico Sig in my SCXD and while its not for everybody I like the increased clarity of the clean sounds.
Fender have just issued a limited FSR version of the Super Champ in lacquered tweed and fitted with the Rajin Cajun. I was seriously considering getting one. Then I saw this demo. It's not for me---so thank you, you've saved me a few quid!
I think the speaker that Fender chose for this amp works well. You have to remember with all of the amp's settings in this model, you need a versatile speaker that can handle them. The Ragin Cagin may sound good for a few settings on this amp, but the stock Fender sounds the best for the whole package in general. I wouldn't change it.
Thanks for posting the video Jack. It's great to see someone who is so passionate about their craft. Personally, I think the RC does sound a bit more full and bold. However, I like the stock speaker. I've had a WGS G10C, a WGS G10 Alnico, a Celection 10 Greenback, and also plugged the SCX2 into my Celestial Blue from my special edition 65 PRRI. To be honest, I'm more upset about Fender stopping support for the Fuse software, when they happily continue to sell the amp, than I am about what speaker is in it. For home use, I'm happy to stick with the stock specially designed Eminence speaker. Keep up the great work!
I have a 1995 Blues Jr. and replace the stock speaker with the 12” Cannabis Rex and it made a huge difference! I have a Fender Champion 600 and changed the cheap stock speaker for an Eminence and huge difference. I picked up a mint Fender G-Dec 3 Thirty and and going to order a Ragen Cajun or copperhead for it, leaning Cajun. I love eminence speakers!
I went the other way and swapped in a Weber CTC10 25 watt. It retains the highs but they’re sweeter and it adds some full body punch. Lows are tighter. Sounds wonderful driven. As with most digital modeling amps, the voices with compression are the most 3 dimensional and natural. Channel 1 is an above average clean sound but not much better. Voice 3 Tweed Deluxe Dirty and Compressed is where the real magic can happen with this amp. Beautiful cleans with gain at 3 volume at 6. Turn the gain up to about 5 and it starts to breakup very smoothly. Very tweakable. And that voice is fine with pedals as well
I watched this video to look for a replacement for my Vox VT40X for studio recording. While I do agree that the stock speakers sound much clearer, it doesn't handle overdrive/breakups as well as the Cajuns. It's a lot more apparent towards the end of the video when comparing Voices 13 and 14. My overall vote goes to the Ragin Cajun, after comparing the two the overdriven tones from the stock speakers seem almost unusable. Thanks for posting this video, it was definitely helpful
Thank you! The Cajun has also opened up a bit over time and use. This video was shot with it literally right out of the box. Its clean tone presentation is much better now.
I have the V40+, predecessor of the VT40X. I replaced the stock 'Korg' speaker with a Jensen C10Q (ceramic antique re-issue). Jensen speakers are used in some older Fender amps, so I wanted a more jangly chimey sound. The Jensen was a very nice upgrade for that tone, but probably no better for the heavy gain settings. The Jensen is 35W rating, so make sure you do not turn the 40X up to its 40W output (and it can go to 60w apparently)! I have a detent on mine to limit it to 35W. Agreed the stock speaker in the SC X2 sounded pretty nasty on voice 14.
Great help. Thank's I have the X2 combo & head version. I bought the Ragen Cajun for the combo hoping to add Low End after seeing this video & it REALLY helped the combo. For the Head version I had a Fender PA Cab with an EV 10' at 8Ω thats verry Punchy Tight Bottom End. This RC is a great speaker for an open back combo. Tanx Jack.
Glad it was helpful! I've tried out alot of speakers in this amp and keep coming back to the RC. It really makes it sound like it has a 12" instead of a 10
@@JackFossett Yes, Jack, I agree. I love my x2 with the RC. The secret sauce that makes it really chime and ring like bell on channel 1, and which makes for a full massive distortion on channel 2, settings 13 and 14, is an Ibanez TS9 tube screamer (level dimed, gain at 0), and a Wampler ego compressor, blended at around 50/50.
Great video, Just replaced my stock speaker with the Ragin Cajun in my Fender super champ x2 ,,,very very pleased. I have a celestion greenback in my Princeton Reverb thinking of changing it out with another Cajun and pretty cheap compared to the celestion greenback.
Nice! I know alot of players like to put Celestion (or Celestion style) speakers in Tweed Fender amps. Helps to balance out some of the, what can sometimes be, flubby bottom end. I'm very happy with the Cajun in the Super Champ, its also a bit brighter now since I've broken it in more.
Great video and thanks for putting this together. While I can understand the benefits of the extra volume the Ragin Cajun might give in a band mix, I’m not convinced that the dark muddy sound would cut through anyway. So thank you for helping me decide to stick with the stock speaker
Jared Holton • Yes a good musician will be able to do with less but once someone had the enlightenment of swapping speakers and pickups.. there's no going back to stock.
I didn’t realize this uses 6v6 power like the Princeton and deluxe reverb. Through channel 1 it seems able to get close to those. Enough chime? You sound better in each video I see, so good!
Thank you! Yes, for the video I wanted to give the modeling channels some playthrough, but the best way to use these amps is just channel 1 with pedals IMO.
That sounds so much better with the ragin, Cajun! I have been deciding which amp to get. I like the Princeton and deluxe reverb. And the bassbreaker 30r. But they cost a lot more. This might be my ticket. I have a 2x12 cab I made with CELESTION silver series 12-60,s in it. I don’t know if they are able to get the bright sparkle though. Please keep making videos and original songs. I love your tone with single coils especially but humbuckers are sweet as well.
I just saw a British guy do the same thing without the high quality video, his champ was about 3 yrs old and he put a brand new Cajun and man it was twice as loud and had low end i could on my computer desk through the speakers
I have the ragin cajun in my Champ X2 combo. I also have the Champ Cab which has a 1x12" Celestion G12. I prefer running this off the 12" speaker in every way shape or form.
Sound, like beauty, is subjective. Your first example at around 2:35 really makes the stock speaker shine, to my ears. The Eminence sounds "richer" but in a muddy, unappealing way.
Nice demo and even though I would choose different eq settings (less bass) than you have I prefer the ragin cajun's softer tops to the stock speaker. It also seems to have a touch more mids which I liked. Thanks for sharing :)
Thank you! I love the Ragin Cajun. Its opened up since the demo too - it does sound slightly muffled right out of the box. The tone has evened out a bit since then, with a touch more sparkle on the top end. Makes the amp sound like it was $1000 rather than $300.
@@JackFossett What an incredible upgrade. Such value added with the Eminence. This video was highly instrumental in me picking up a Ragin' Cajun for my x2. The difference with the RC is astonishing. I also picked up the x2 head and it sounds fabulous through my Mesa Boogie California Tweed cab with Jensen Blackbird Speaker, as well as through my Mesa Cab with a Celestion V30.
The Ragin Cajun for me gave the best response overall between the stock speaker and your other comparison with the Patriot. If I were to get one of these amps the Ragin Cajun would possibly be a choice upgrade, if it came with a standard Fender speaker and not say a Jensen for instance. The Ragin Cajun gave that nice mid and bass rich tone which combines the best of Fender with Vox👍👍
@@crcj7896I think the limited edition came with the Fender speaker, although I saw a TH-cam video of the limi6 edition tweed brown version that had the stoc6 speaker replaced,
Did the swap....WOW! My Super Champ XD is no longer restricted to being a practice amp. Not only is it appreciably louder, but it cuts and the bass response is immensely better vs. the stock Special Design speaker. The best $74.95 I've ever spent!
Thanks Jack for the demo. Now I've ordered one (actually two cause of a deal) of those Blue 100i mics and will do the dual mic thing on my Super Champ X2. As far the speaker goes, its a toss up. So I think I'll order one of those Cajun's and install it in a seperate cab of roughly the same dimensions, then use one or the other when recording. I don't think its a good idea to switch speaker cabs hot, or it fry the amp, or I'd do it live.
I had a Ragin Cajun in my Super Champ. I removed it. That amp is a modeling amp and requires a speaker with a flatter response. Save your money and enjoy the amp for what it is.
I ran it through a Eminence Cannabis Rex 1x12 and later with a Eminence Texas Heat 1x12 ...I found that my X2 was a bit dark, and the Texas Heat worked best.
Hi, thank you very much! This was a great demonstration. Reasonable sound examples. Exemplary!!By the way, I think if I could play like you, everything sounds good.
The stock speaker is bright and is intended to be used with cabinet emulations. A fair comparison would be stock speaker with cab emulation, against cajun no speaker emulation... that's why the stock sounds better on the darker voices.
Fender makes this amp in limited editions with the cajun speaker. I just bought one, it sounds fantastic. I like it with less gain though than the video.
Hello Jack, thanks for the comparison ! I'm looking to replace my stock speaker on my X2 (for recordings purposes) Would you say the Eminence speaker emits lower noise (hiss) ? It's seems on your review the stock speaker emits more hiss. Do you think a Celestion would be an improvement similar to Eminence ? Thanks 🖖
I have to agree with the comments that the Cajun sounds muddier than the stock speaker, but..... the stock speaker doesn't seem to have much use unless on stage. It has next to no bottom end and doesn't deliver enough volume. I think that I'll try a Cannabis Rex and see if I can get back somebody that Fender chime while making the amp sound bigger.
Another fine gear comparison. I have the SCX2 w/ a Celestion Greenback 10", but I'm convinced the available settings on this amp can make a variety of speakers sound good. Maybe a 12" would suit it too?
The RC is beefier, it really adds some heft and authority to the tone. I've heard it in other amps and AB'd it to other speakers and it has come out a winner. But I saw your video with the Cannabis Rex and like it even better in that amp. Great playing, BTW.
Thanks! I think they're both good choices honestly its just a stylistic preference. The thing that I'm afraid got lost in the TH-cam videos is that the stock speaker sounds cheap. As far as tonal character goes, its not bad, but quality of sound is a noticeable step down from the others.
I really loved this amp when i tried it, but the only way to play at home is with volume on 1! More than that and its too loud! Tube amps make no sense without a Master volume...
Definite improvement. Thank you for making this video. Hopefully getting one of these (cheap, used) in a week for a portable/second amp w/effects and that speaker upgrade will be the first thing that I do with it. Put a Cannabis Rex in my Tweed Jnr, Ragin' Cajun in the SC and on either side of my Bassbreaker or Laney and wet/dry/wet goodness awaits! How does it take pedals on the clean channel?
Takes pedals very well on clean. In fact I use it live for small gigs pretty frequently. The clean channel is basically like an old Fender Super Champ.
@@JackFossett Not sure I'd be using the onboard gain tho. I'd probably just use it as a de facto SC. The RC might be the better choice re: headroom, taking pedals etc. I liked RC on Voices 13 & 14.
I think "young God " is spot on. I used an old 70s champ cos I could whack it up to jam and it only had a cruddy speaker then which is why it sounded great. I must reveal that I used to work for CBS in 1980s and got to play em all and that the superchamp is a really useful tool. After a gig or whatever I can pick it up put it in a motor or cupboatd in 2 mins and spend more time helping the drummmer and p.a. guy to pack thier stuff away...and then get back in time for Star treck.
I disagree, the Emminences have by far bigger frequency range... It is in a way where you can explore much more from mids highs and lows without sounding crappy. However, the Fender ones are not bad, they cannot fight against the emminences. I think this is the point.
I think the Eminence is probably a good upgrade overall. It sounds a little more natural and classic for overdrive and distortion, and I read your comments back to folks, saying it broke in well for clean in time. Two other possibilities are to simply disconnect the internal 10 and use an 8 ohms speaker cabinet of your liking. E.g., I have several 1-12 cabinets and a 1-15 Jensen guitar cab (modified Peavy VK 1-12 enclosure) that work well for that approach. Or, a fellow on eBay (Guitar Hardware) makes real cool replacement cabinets for the whole amp in various coverings and colors, cut for a 12 inch speaker, another way to beef it up and keep it portable as a combo. A bit pricey, but cool to add a 12 and some color or covering options if you really love your Super Champs. See www.ebay.com/itm/Fender-Super-Champ-XD-/262718802330?epid=70299495&hash=item3d2b42c99a:g:3EMAAOSwuMFUe7nH
PPS His advertisement on eBay has one line where it says XD/XDII, so I think he means it will fit the X2 also. I think the amp section chassis is the same on the XD and X2, but I can't swear to it, since the XD was made in China and the X2 in Mexico. Having owned two XDs, which I still have, and one X2 head which I sold, the XD sounds better out of the box than the X2 to my ears, but you have more features on the X2 now, no doubt, and the Fuse Software might help you dial in your tones better. I just did not want to fool with it, so sold it and the matching cab to partially finance a new Gibson 2013 EB5 on clearance for under $700 with OHSC. That X2 cab is a good way to go too, at only $200 new and sized to fit the head or combos of both the XD and X2.
Jack would you choose a BJ instead of these I’ve find one brand new with G10 greenback speaker and want to use it with pedals so no worry about the Fx.
Very nice demo, Jack. I was also impressed by your video with the Alessandro--what made you want to switch from it to the RC? Any chance of getting a head-to-head between those two?
Thank you sir! Glad you liked it. The only reason for the switch was wanting to do more demos in collaboration with Eminence - these were two speakers we had talked about initially, and decided to eventually do both. Personally I like the Ragin Cajun a bit better stylistically with the way it adds warmth and "power" to the tone. The Alessandro was more in line with classic Super Champ tone, being brighter and crisper. Not sure if I'll ever do a head to head between to the two but its certainly something I'll think about - thanks again!
Looking beyond the muddiness of the Eminence Rajun Cajun in this demo, you have the ability to cut your bass on the amp, thereby increasing your clean headroom. Remember, the stock speaker is also an eminence.
I have an X2 was thinking of just buying on Reverb a Cab and swapping in/out various speakers using the ext out. And as one jumps out as best for me then put in in the amp. Otherwise, I'd go crazy.
Thanks for video, was curious about this sp change,I like stock speaker ok,to cheap to pay. FFor new speaker lol, would. It have been better to just get an ext speaker cab?
I agree on cleans, but on hi-gain channels, the RC def sounds smoother and less shrill (esp for leads). Not sure I'd choose the RC myself, but I would swap out the stock for something less tinny.
Hi Jack, i own a Boss Katana mk2 100w but i'm not happy with it too much meanwhile i hate its 12'' speaker. Do you think swapping it for a Super Champ x2 would be good? I love fender amps and fender cleans.
my opinion..I think with the Cajun you just need to adjust some bass out of it! I put one in my amp I like it...but I play more southern rock..if you play clean... don't change it!
Compared to the stock 10", the Cajun sounds almost like a 12". It's fuller with more lows and low mids. Do you think a Cajum 10" would add more low end and maybe a bit more volume to my Marshall mg30fx? The stock speaker is a 4 ohm though so I wonder if this will cancel out the Cajun's better efficiency(as far as volume goes)?
Thats hard to say as the Cajun is more American amp voiced, and I'm not familiar with the MG30fx. That being said, most consumer level amps come with cheaper speakers as a way to keep costs down, so quality wise it would most likely be an upgrade, just not sure if its the right character.
AWESOME VIDEO BUDDY THANKS, I have the vibrochamp xd and I'm going to do a speaker swap, I also have the 1960s blackface vibrochamp with its original speaker in, so I want to upgrade that speaker to keep original in tact ha
Thanks! Thats awesome. I definitely agree the Cajun is better. The stock speaker sounded cheap, but with the Cajun it sounds not only higher quality, but almost like it has a 12" speaker instead of a 10.
I'm not exactly a conspiracy theorist but I'm very happy with the stock speakers that came with my Superchamp XD. Yes, I've got two of them, xd but not the x2 model, because I couldn't resist buying another one when I saw it second hand. I thinks the sounds in XD are better chosen than in x2. Of course that the stock speaker can be replaced with something a little better at a cost, but I think that I would put my money in an external cabinet with a good 12 inch speaker, if I need the sound of a 1,000 euro amplifier getting an external 2x12, or even a 4x12, instead of replacing the stock speaker which sounds much better than simply ok in my opinion..
Good job...Due to budget , I purchased a frontman with the two 12 in. Spkrs..amp is not bad but the stock spkrs r crap.. I play with volume usually ... Like to feel it ..the spkrs would fart , especially if xtra bass is on..crap..had an old homemade spkr cab that had 4 12's. Texas Heat ..put two of those in the frontman..so much better..
My Ears say the stock speak just *SOUNDS BETTER* its all about how good it can sound clean....and it is just more crisp, clean and overall better sound then the cajun. Stock has a little more BITE then the Cajun also...the Cajun mellows the sound a bit but there is loss of clarity I feel....
I have a question. I have a super champ x2 with the stock speaker and i have a 40 watt fender champion solid state . Now, can i exchange these speakers? like put the 40 watt speaker from the fender solid state amp into the tube super champ x2?
The hybrid channel to me sounds like ass. I have the XD and only use the all tube channel as a pedal platform. I would recommend you try that with a good overdrive and the reverb and delay on the amp.
@@alep7358 What's more important, your ears or your cork sniffing? Amp sounds great and the 6v6 power tubes w/ 12AX7 rectifier combo! Plus Princeton circuit. But if you need more tubes to float your boat.....

The Ragin Cajun Sounds like it has more Break-Up, muddier & Distorted. Its Not-for-me, . . . I much-prefer those Chimey & Pristine Fender Cleans

The Super Champ x2 is discontinued now I think.
I had a vt40x for a day, brought it back to the store and got this fender amp. I’m very impressed with it.
@@JWBegor Yes, I use my Fender Super Champ XD now, much easier to dial in the desired tone. The VT40+ with Jensen speaker is a spare amp.
I'm very happy with the Cajun in the Super Champ, its also a bit brighter now since I've broken it in more.
exactly what i was looking for - thanks!
I have two of these upgraded with a Celestion G10 Gold in each. I use an ABY and keep them set at different voices. Big difference!
I have the X2 ......I've thought about upgrading the speaker...it does sounds better with the upgraded speaker.......
Both sound very good I think I like the stock speaker a bit more. Good video..
Great video and thanks for putting this together.
While I can understand the benefits of the extra volume the Ragin Cajun might give in a band mix, I’m not convinced that the dark muddy sound would cut through anyway.
So thank you for helping me decide to stick with the stock speaker
Sounds great, Jack!!!
Thank you sir!
Did it matter what speaker this guy played?? He was going to make that amp sound good either way!
Jared Holton Thanks for the kind words!
I have the head version of this ordered, and it'll be going thru my 2x15 cab...not gonna lie, im looking forward to it
Nice!
I been hearing a lot of good things about this speaker
I've been.
I have the ragin cajun in my Champ X2 combo. I also have the Champ Cab which has a 1x12" Celestion G12. I prefer running this off the 12" speaker in every way shape or form.
Great Demo guy!
Well done. Thanks!
122Music1 thank you!
Sound, like beauty, is subjective. Your first example at around 2:35 really makes the stock speaker shine, to my ears. The Eminence sounds "richer" but in a muddy, unappealing way.
I have the tweed rc version and I like it slot. I usually leave it on the clean channel and run a few pedals. Good video
Thanks for the video! I not to use a Rajin Cajun. Sound muddy to me,
I like the stock speaker!
There is a limited edition from fender coming with the Ragin Cajun speaker as stock might be worth looking into!
@@crcj7896I think the limited edition came with the Fender speaker, although I saw a TH-cam video of the limi6 edition tweed brown version that had the stoc6 speaker replaced,
Great demo. Makes me remember how I dislike digital onboard reverbs...
Big improvement over stock! Seems more touch responsive
I agree!
Based on this demo as well as several other reviews, I will be upgrading the stock speaker of my Super Champ XD with the Ragin' Cajun.
Glad to hear that the demo made an impact! I'm much happier with this amp now than I was before.
Did the swap....WOW! My Super Champ XD is no longer restricted to being a practice amp. Not only is it appreciably louder, but it cuts and the bass response is immensely better vs. the stock Special Design speaker. The best $74.95 I've ever spent!
Awesome! I totally agree - with the Eminence it can go head to head with amps like the Princeton or even some of the new Supros.
Sorry but that Ragin sounds awful
Thanks Jack for the demo. Now I've ordered one (actually two cause of a deal) of those Blue 100i mics and will do the dual mic thing on my Super Champ X2. As far the speaker goes, its a toss up. So I think I'll order one of those Cajun's and install it in a seperate cab of roughly the same dimensions, then use one or the other when recording. I don't think its a good idea to switch speaker cabs hot, or it fry the amp, or I'd do it live.
Awesome! 100i's are super underrated IMO - hope you enjoy them!
The raging seem to be distorting by its own. The cleaner lines you played on the stock speaker had an added granular sound through the Ragin’.
Good job, nice playing, I like the treble on the original and the bass on the cajun.....Oh well.......LOL
Thanks!
I just added a Warehouse G10C, what a difference. All the highs and full bottom. I had to remove the tube cage, it fit otherwise.
Hi, thank you very much! This was a great demonstration. Reasonable sound examples. Exemplary!!By the way, I think if I could play like you, everything sounds good.
Thank you!!
Sweet tones! Great video. Thanks!
You play so magnificently! Such tonal joy! And variety! Do you still recommend this years later? I thought it sounds great.
I really loved this amp when i tried it, but the only way to play at home is with volume on 1! More than that and its too loud! Tube amps make no sense without a Master volume...
the x2 is modeling amp. you can adjust gain in the software. no need for master volume or just by and overdrive if you cant work a basic PC.
I prefer the Cajun only on clean or on the highest distortion sound. For crunch, light overdriven, was the stock Speaker better
I like how it sounds!
Same here!
@@JackFossett
That's what I'm after! Why pay $1000 when I can have a SC for $250!
@@JackFossett
Not sure I'd be using the onboard gain tho.
What were your gain and volume settings at the beginning of the video? It's crystal clear--despite the fact that your voicing was on #12....Thanks!
Great demo!
I have to be honest though, the stock speaker has a much better sound than the RC?
Thanks for the video and great playing too BTW!
I disagree, the Emminences have by far bigger frequency range... It is in a way where you can explore much more from mids highs and lows without sounding crappy. However, the Fender ones are not bad, they cannot fight against the emminences. I think this is the point.
The RAGIN is making the mike breakup more, so I bet in person this sounds amazing
Night and day imo, the ragen is so much warmer and shines massively overdriven
I have an XD. I shi*canned the 10" all together and had a 12" combo cab built and loaded a 12" Celestion Vintage 30. Haven't looked back.
LOL,,,AWESOME HOW YOU POSTED THE TROLLS.....THANKS AND KEEP UP THE GREAT VIDS
Mine gets delivered today from Sweetwater
Stock speaker is more vintage Champ sounding. The Rajin Cajun has a warmer , maybe more mids, sound. Wonder how they would sound together?
PS nice demo and playing, thanks. Enjoyed your professional approach and humorous invitations to leave comments.
In all honesty, this is the 1st demo of a Ragin Cajun that made me not want that speaker.
Is it? The one I got from guitar center came with a fender speaker
Nice comparison, sometimes I prefer the warmer Cajun sound and sometimes I prefer the crispier stock speaker.
I changed it to this speaker now it just does some weird pulsing buzzing sound any idea why?
Gotta go with the Celestion green back
I have an X2 was thinking of just buying on Reverb a Cab and swapping in/out various speakers using the ext out. And as one jumps out as best for me then put in in the amp. Otherwise, I'd go crazy.
thanks for the video mate very helpful indeed :)
Awesome demo. I subscribed and getting a raging cajun upgrade. . .thanks!
Awesome! Thank you!
The ragin is clipping the mic so that's a pure sign it sounds way bigger in person
Thanks for video, was curious about this sp change,I like stock speaker ok,to cheap to pay. FFor new speaker lol, would. It have been better to just get an ext speaker cab?
for me the Stock Speaker sound way better!!!
Wait til the speaker is broken in it will blow the stock speaker away.
I agree on cleans, but on hi-gain channels, the RC def sounds smoother and less shrill (esp for leads). Not sure I'd choose the RC myself, but I would swap out the stock for something less tinny.
Yep
Hi Jack, i own a Boss Katana mk2 100w but i'm not happy with it too much meanwhile i hate its 12'' speaker. Do you think swapping it for a Super Champ x2 would be good? I love fender amps and fender cleans.
Fender Stock for the Win !!
my opinion..I think with the Cajun you just need to adjust some bass out of it! I put one in my amp I like it...but I play more southern rock..if you play clean... don't change it!
Why do you have a video of every piece of gear I’m thinking of getting!?
The stock speaker sounded cheap, but with the Cajun it sounds not only higher quality, but almost like it has a 12" speaker instead of a 10.
cajun sounds like mud compared to the stock. way more clarity and definition on the stock speaker.
I just bought one of these used for $225 (it's the XD though). I doubt it's a coincidence that it also has a Ragin Cajun.
Honestly the XD is a superior amp to the X2. 100%
They are the best deal in the used market right now, especially for modding if you're into it. I currently have two.
I have a question. I have a super champ x2 with the stock speaker and i have a 40 watt fender champion solid state . Now, can i exchange these speakers? like put the 40 watt speaker from the fender solid state amp into the tube super champ x2?
If they're the same ohms and the same size then yes.
The hybrid channel to me sounds like ass. I have the XD and only use the all tube channel as a pedal platform. I would recommend you try that with a good overdrive and the reverb and delay on the amp.
I don’t think that channel is truly all tube

What's more important, your ears or your cork sniffing?
Amp sounds great and the 6v6 power tubes w/ 12AX7 rectifier combo!
Plus Princeton circuit.
But if you need more tubes to float your boat.....
plug it in on a 4x12....and be amazed
