I enjoy these episodes. It’s always interesting to learn about new artist and don’t we all live a little vicariously through each other when we share vinyl records finds.
Some great finds there Matt. Don’t blame you for keeping them for your collection! I love Francoise Hardy. I have one of her albums on my wantlist. You’re right about the prices for an OG copy !
Love these videos as always, Matt! First video in the store? Nice pickup of El Chico. I see you're dipping your toe into Impulse. Nice! And nice bossa nova Verve pick.
I sold my reissue of Ace of Spades. Replaced it with a nice OG copy. I found the reissue really noisy at times. Great Smiths record. I love all their albums.
Yeah, the Franchise Hardy records rock, they reissues AAA pressing (not DOL) and reasonably priced & The Smiths meat is Murder is great- reminds me of my teenage yrs in 84great choices. The store looks great, BTW!!
Clicked on the video (I would have watched it eventually anyway) because I saw Mirror Ball. I have Mirror Ball on vinyl as I try to be a PJ completest. Love the album! Also... love the Suzanne Vega album and you are right, it's a phenomenal pressing.
Wonderful video Matt! I REALLY wanted that meat is murder Lp by the Smiths lol. I must make a trip to your store whenever I plan on traveling. Portland Oregon is now on my list to visit for the record stores besides Los Angeles, Chicago and New York. Also, Til Tuesday was a great group in the 80s. You should check out the song Voices Carry by Til Tuesday. Great song!
I see a copy of that Mirrorball in a record store near DC for $200. Kills me every time I see it. Never considering biting on it because NY is doing a re-release soon, maybe even with additional material
Have a few Francise Hardy albums from a Goodwill. I didn't care it was French. France Gall is another artist I enjoy. Computer nummer drei. Voices carry!
Great video Matt. You’re right about Jazz Samba Encore, much better than the first one but you left off it’s greatest claim to fame. It contains the famous sample used on Pharcyde’s Runnin’. Unfortunately you’re wrong about Queen is Dead, it’s their best album hands down. Sad to say Meat is Murder might be my least favorite. Great scores, more of these videos.
It must be so hard not wanting to take everything home. A few of Chicos Impulse output from that era have Gabor Szabo. My favorite is Passin Through but they are all great. Luiz Bonfa Jacaranda is absolute 🔥 if you have never heard it definitely check it out. The only with Charlie Bird from that series has a couple bangers. Thanks for the video. Cheers!
Hey, I have a question, have you ever found something in a thrift store, that you could not believe was in the used record section, and you knew you HAD to buy it? Because one time I found a 2ND PRESSING of the debut Metallica album Kill 'em All AND a 1ST PRESSING of there Garage Days cover ep! They were $1.99 each! To this day I still find records I have to get but, that is the only major time that that was at a goodwill!
Rad you checked out Nation of Language! I met them when they opened for the Wombats at the Fonda LA. You should try their first album. Surprised you didn’t know Til Tuesday! Listen to Voices Carry. My old band used to cover that song. We just released our old EP. It’s emo you might like it! Resident Ghost 2am.
Oh Yeah is off the album “Stella” which is a brilliant album. But the one you have is amazing. As well as the album called “One Second”. If you ever come across a copy of the “Touch” album- just send it to me. Nobody wants that one…
Very surprised to hear your opinion on Radiohead's "The Brighter North" discs. I owned them a few years ago and thought they sounded awful. "Rocks Germany 2001" is easily the best Radiohead live bootleg I've come across
I wonder if it varies copy to copy. I had an audiophile friend in the store when I was listening and he commented on how good it sounded too. Obviously not an audiophile recording, but for a bootleg.
@@TooManyRecords Yeah, very well could be the case, wouldn't be the first time a release is like that. Glad yours sound good though, as the tracklist is fantastic. Mine just sounded muddy with zero life, unfortunately.
DOL is practically a glorified bootleg label, I really wouldn’t bother… at best you’re getting audio sourced from an official/commercial CD release put on wax… Then again, sometimes the official labels do that too! Say what you will about 4MWB, at least they’re licensed :)
I enjoy these episodes. It’s always interesting to learn about new artist and don’t we all live a little vicariously through each other when we share vinyl records finds.
Love the 'Til Tuesday shoutout. For the Aimee Mann fans - she guests on the very 80's Rush song "Time Stand Still" - and it's fantastic.
Rainer Maria! Great band!
Some great finds there Matt. Don’t blame you for keeping them for your collection! I love Francoise Hardy. I have one of her albums on my wantlist. You’re right about the prices for an OG copy !
'Oh Yeah' is on Yello's 1985 album titled Stella.
I realized it after the fact LOL
I always enjoy these types of videos. Cool stuff!

I can’t find original Smiths anywhere. Portlanders are lucky!
Dude, the store looks great. Shocked you didn’t know about ‘Til Tuesday - “Voices Carry” was such a *huge* hit!
Before my time! You gotta get out here and see it man.
Clicked on the video (I would have watched it eventually anyway) because I saw Mirror Ball. I have Mirror Ball on vinyl as I try to be a PJ completest. Love the album! Also... love the Suzanne Vega album and you are right, it's a phenomenal pressing.
Just like Tracy Chapman, stellar pressings from the era!
@@TooManyRecords Very true.

if anyone likes 90s grunge / alt rock and hasn't heard creature by moist... i got it on vinyl recently and it's awesome. i definitely recommend it :)
Stan Getz...yes please!
As a store owner dont get attached to records ! You gotta mke $$$$
Have a few Francise Hardy albums from a Goodwill. I didn't care it was French. France Gall is another artist I enjoy. Computer nummer drei. Voices carry!
Damn hell of a goodwill score.

Across the Rooftops is also a 10/10 Blue Nile album! Also there’s a decent amount of Chico Albums that Szabo plays on.

Check out Nation of Language’s debut LP. They have been described as the best 80’s band of the 2020’s!

Of course! I think any collector would! Those are great scores.
The Blue Nile and Neil Young are on my current want lists. Maybe I need to open a record store to get these. 😅
Yes, Nation of Language is great. Check out their first album as well.
Will do!
I was shocked you didn’t have any Motörhead in your enormous collection.
But now ya do and that’s a great one.
The itch begins.
Rad you checked out Nation of Language! I met them when they opened for the Wombats at the Fonda LA. You should try their first album.

I want the Touch album!!
Drooling over the Radiohead bootleg
Worth tracking down.
I would have held onto to that Pearl Jam/Neil Young album like it would save me from drowning! 😃
I sleep with it in my bed
@@TooManyRecords awww…. I may have done the same when after 10 years I finally managed to get the Pearl Jam VS./Vitology box set 😊
I had one of those Radiohead boots and it sounded terrible. Happy yours sounded good though!
Same here. Sold it almost immediately

I would be a horrible record store owner. I'd be getting high on my own supply too frequently.
Putting those Radiohead shows on my Wantlist
It's your era.
I have 3 Francoise Hardy originals if you want to trade
Tempting, feel free to email me.

Did the owner cut you a bro deal?
Hmm?
@@TooManyRecords Bad joke. I know you're the owner.
@@thislazylife I get it now LOL
What's wrong with 4 men with beards?
Notoriously low quality pressings. Go to their discogs comments or read about them on the Steve Hoffman forums.
Yes they are absolutely horrible, typically really bad quality control
