I have never seen an interview where Amira did not carry herself and express her thoughts exceptionally well. This all started with her HGT audition when she was just 9 years old. And she can always sing so beautifully at the drop of a hat.
yes i agree completely, and seeing who she is she probably does't think the way i do about her interviews and those judges when she started, i loved watching their faces and reactions when they start talking like she is a child and kind of talking down to her, total composed, in complete control of conversations, corrects without hesitation the correct pronunciation and/or meaning of words, when i first say her i was blown away, not very often are we given a gift like this.
Amira, But I want to say something to you parent and team. Please reduce Amira’s social activities and those unimportant performances Let her back to school with a quiet live. She is a little girl and student now, pure and beautiful. What we should do is keep the pure and beautiful of her, but not destroy it. She has a very great pure and beautiful heat, which let her success, that’s the gift God gave us. Keep it and don’t destroy it. Please! Amira, my angel, God bless you, we all bless you!
Omroep Gelderland: Thanks for posting this interview. Best wishes, as always, to Amira and to all of her family, wherever they may be, and wherever they may go. “All that is gold does not glitter, / Not all those who wander are lost; / The old that is strong does not wither, / Deep roots are not reached by the frost." (Tolkien)
Of course, it was a very different place, then, than it has now become, and even more different than what it may next evolve into, in the very near future.
@ Timothy, Yes, racial tensions there are very disturbing, 91 % against whites. I hope she is protected. Her best guard is Fincent with a good Winchester training. Or RG 49.
If only that could be enough, but things are now very grim, and alarming, there, far more than most people (and probably more than most Amira fans) are aware. I fear that very dark days may lie ahead, for SA, and perhaps not very far distant. It does not look like radical and disastrous change can be avoided, now. But perhaps those of us who see this future will be proven wrong. I fervently hope so. One other quote from Tolkien's LOTR trilogy, on behalf of SA: "Things which should not have been forgotten, were lost." :-(
'' you will be a star ..'' some one wrote .. 2013 is gone with all the bright and cosmic talent-newness you gave to the music world .. Your brilliant self-interpretations and unforgettable performances of the arias you love on HGT will astonish and stun any new listener in their magnificence.. Joan Sutherland , Victoria de las Angeles , Maria Callas , et al -- I now compare them to you vs the other way around.. you are THE standard for the top operatic soprano listen-ability ( is there any other reason ) . You would never have to perform publicly again to be historically noted as the best operatic soprano ever ... You are there .. No more performances where quality sound engineering is absent ( save for a personal favor for some deserving group /church ) .. Money is not a problem or a goal .. Nuts to Sony ..Nuts to too many interviews .. Sing what you love because your passion shows and can be felt in and by your voice ..i have seen it in your performances .. It's your life ! No one else s.. Live where you can.. Be as happy as you can ..
JOHN R Kallestad It was a pleasure reading your comments. My same thoughts but i could not have put it into words any better and as beautifuly as you have done. Yes, Amira is already a legend in opera.
That is first time I heard anyone mention her intellect specifically. I have this intuition that she is gifted all across the board. I would love to know what her favorite subjects are in school. She answers questions a fraction of a second after they are asked. Is she some kind of genius perhaps ?
@@ronsterbenz8648 See th-cam.com/video/dEc-h1bA5YY/w-d-xo.html (It's in English - which she speaks fluently) and th-cam.com/video/5_mqUuHCIN0/w-d-xo.html She is academically brilliant - top of her class in mathematics. This is all we know; but my guess is that (if you understand statistics) she is in the top 0.1% of the population - and she drives herself hard. This produces a dilemma for her; when she finishes school at 18, she will have to choose between university, for one of the professions - (she mentions law, but she has the capacity to do whatever takes her interest) or possibly Juilliard or Harvard, to complete her musical education. She'd prefer music, but thanks to TH-cam, earning from CDs is hardly viable now, so that lifestyle entails a nomadic existence, doing live performances - and as she says, "showbusiness is not for everybody". So we wait to see.
Amira has landed in ZA and is doing very well. Her 3rd album is available on world wide platforms Itunes Amazon and Spotify (search for Amira With All My Heart ) the physical cd is available from her webstore Gelukskinders.org/store
Yes everyone should buy her CDs through her foundation, if all who say they love her, this is the best way to show it. I have all 3 and they are wonderful, her 3rd CD is phenomenal. I had no problem obtaining them this way, they arrived in a timely fashion, just remember they are coming, in my case, from overseas.God bless you Amira.
There are some appallingly uninformed comments here. Anybody who has the Classics is Groot 2016 and 2017 DVDs will know that Amira has fallen in with a very talented group of musicians in SA, who appear to act in a somewhat similar way to Andre Rieu's "family" of performers, and who thoroughly enjoy their performances - which always makes for a great experience for their audiences. It is obvious that they have accepted Amira as a fellow professional, and are fond of her - which is something she did not have in NL. Further, the quality of the DVDs is second to none. The movers and shakers behind this are the Coleske brothers, who also sing themselves - and it is with them that Amira has her new recording contract - a big improvement over the impersonal relationship with SONY. Coleske Artists will release her third album in 4 ~ 6 weeks, and that will be an international release - so Amira is in effect the spearhead of a strong move by a SA entity to break into the world scene. That's a highly enviable position, not any cause for gloom. Comments that assume that she was always aiming for the formal opera scene are based on media hype, NOT what Amira herself has said; her voice allows her to follow whatever genre she pleases - and this interview shows that she intends to make use of that. The statements that she would do better in Europe, with the support of the Netherlands and British raise the question - What support? I've seen no evidence of any! She sang at the opening of a provincial seat of government in NL in September, and the announcer asked who had seen her previously - and got three hands! This in spite of her victory in 2013 at HGT. Yes, she has been "riding a wave" - and as I see it, her move to SA will allow her to continue to do so; she was facing stagnation in NL. Her family issues are no business of anybody on social media. People should at least look at Amira-online.com before commenting on her intensity of singing performances.
Dafydd: Thank you for endeavoring to set the record straight, with regard to current developments for Amira. You are always remarkably well informed. I am hoping for much better things from the Coleske brothers -- a new day dawning, so to speak. :-)
Timothy Johnson - So am I - and if you consider that she flew to Prague to consult with the orchestra that is providing the accompaniment - I can only presume, to make sure the tempos were suitable, and possibly to indicate where she wanted to use rubato - you can get some idea of the lengths to which Coleske Artists have been going, to make this album a winner. BTW, anybody would be just as well-informed, if they watched her videos and kept an eye on the information that turns up from time to time on her official FB site and her FansGroup site. I've been watching them now for three years.
Dafydd: I was wondering, do those various FB sites and connections offer much discussion about Amira's apparently now dissolved or otherwise discontinued association and relationship with Sony, and how that went, from Amira's perspective, and that of her family? I'm thinking probably not, but as I said, I was just wondering. Probably under the category of what you have labeled above as "appallingly uninformed comments," which you likely already read at another location on this same posting, we have this remark, from one who seems to generally favor negativity, but who may feel that it represents pragmatic realism, and who also appears to be a great and longstanding Jackie fan: "I neither saw or heard a documentary on her on NBC or BBC nor an interview. The only ones that do coverage on Amira on a regular basis are dutch local TV and radio stations like omroep gelderland. Classic radio/media (those who know what they're talking about) ignored her completely. The truth is also - Sony hoped to have discovered a new Jackie Evancho - and dropped Amira as it became clear that she wasn't the new Jackie. In 2015 - they insisted on a high level vocal coach while recording her 2nd album in order to reduce her deficits - and after the album became a flop in the charts they chose to better not continue the cooperation."
Timothy Johnson: No, I've not seen any authoritative discussion or explanation of why Amira and SONY went their respective ways. As to the remarks that you quote - "The truth" (?) - Well, SONY produced a promotional video for her second album: th-cam.com/video/f71JqZvzN2Y/w-d-xo.html and it does not suggest to me that they saw her as "a second Jackie". The number of views on FB show the peculiarities of the YT audience, I think. Yes, they suggested that she have some master classes; see the rather delightful th-cam.com/video/A-xQBhOWcoI/w-d-xo.html - but that's hardly grounds to put her down; merely commonsense, given her inexperience. Obviously, the album - which is very beautiful - appealed to a more erudite section of the market than that which results in mass sales - but that does not mean there was any defect in Amira's singing; and it does get into the top ten on Amazon co UK, briefly, in November. It's still listed, and selling, on Amazon. Her debut album is far more popular, and both albums still command a higher price than do most of Jackie's. But this reflects principally on the musical taste of the mass market and its effect on marketing strategy, rather than on the excellence or otherwise of Amira's singing. So the fellow's "facts" seem pretty specious to me.
Dafydd: If the acquisition of profit (to please stockholders), and therefore the corollary and parallel relentless pursuit of sales, through clever, carefully studied and manipulative marketing, are the gods that international corporations must worship in their endless quest for market share against one another, than it seems only logical and inevitable that craftsmanship, quality, and natural skill will need to be sacrificed in favor of boiling down presentations and performances to the lowest possible common denominator (keeping things as simple, intense, and repetitive as possible), and thus appeal to the widest possible portion of the masses, and also the portion most easily swayed by glitz and glamour, whether entirely manufactured and illusory, or otherwise. At least, that's what makes sense, to me.
I try to see this screen from the bottom from the top from the right and left, and indeed she is very beautiful, especially combined with the ability of his voice, total package... beautiful, pure voice and opera song... great
I wish Amira well.......I also hope Gerritt is OK? When will he see his children? So sorry to hear about the divorce....and so sorry Amira is leaving Europe......SA's gain.....Gxxx
*Amira is the voice of Holland to the people of England and Europe, we all love her deeply and care for her welfare and future. I am sorry to hear that her parent's marriage is in difficulties, and we wish them the parents well, but what comes next? being blunt Amira is entering the worlds toughest profession, she needs the aid of all the professionals found here and not in South Africa. This move will be a disaster for her career. And I see great trouble ahead. Holland is her home and birthplace, a world where she is worahipped and admired by all.*
(@ElizmaBrand) For Amira sake, I honestly hope you are correct. The public can easily become disgruntled, maybe the public will not support her switch of country? I do not think for one moment the Dutch public will be pleased. Then you have her voice to worry about, a girl of 9 - Amira for instance is a sensation and world class for a girl aged 9, but the same girl aged 17 might be a non-runner, you must know Shirley Temple was a has been at 14, and virtually unemployable. Fingers crossed for luck here for her?
PipersSon Ones again, you dont know the music industry in SA. We have some of the best producers. She already performs every year at "Classics is Groot" ...google it. She loves it. There is nothing to worry about. Her family is from Potchefstroom....thats where they will stay. One of the biggest and best University is there, and that's where she will study one day. We are a develop country....
(@ElizmaB) I have spent a lifetime in sales and public relations, I forecast within 2 years Amira will be back in Holland, or London. She was riding the crest of a wave. The public want to see a child prodigy, but will they accept Amira age 19-29. 39, time will tell, she needs Italy, Milan, and Paris and London, not Cape town or Joburg.
PipersSon Wait and see. There is a lot you don't know. There is a big group of people behind her. ..not only from South Africa. As I said there is a lot you don't know.
Google translation: Dear Princess, Since you retired I chose TH-cam to search for all that is beautiful and especially the intangible beauty and especially the intelligence. And since I found you in the HGT I was following your news. Every time it was a joy but something of fear. From the first I knew that you had a promising future. In this case the negatives of fame have bad consequences. And after this world fame in a great atmosphere and although you are not twenty and did not change, increased my admiration for you and knew that God embraced everything (beauty, intelligence, sense of others and the love of tenderness, and especially humility...) These qualities at an early age are great qualities. I have proof that you are the queen of opera when the time comes. Consider that your place is bigger than that. Opera is a means, not a goal. It turns out that you have the ability to tickle people's feelings no matter how old or different they are. And after exceeding the limit in the acquisition of science will add to the opera in person and not vice versa. Then your knowledge and reputation is used to serve the charity. And so you enter history by its wide door. And ask for forgiveness if you acted like I write for my granddaughter. Ask God to take care of you. Peace.
Einar Dahl In one of her interviews it says that her father will find it hard to get a job in South Africa so for now he stays in Holland. I think eventually he will move there but I'm unsure on that.
Amira's parents did get divorced after 20 or 21 years of marriage , last year in 2017 - it happens, unfortunately - in my humble opinion , even though I am South African , South Africa is NOT the best place for Amira's career - her worldwide fan base is massive and for every performance in South Africa there should be two abroad - there are only approximately 4 million whites left in South Africa and 60% are afrikaans which is the market that the Coleske's are exposing Amira to through their Classics is Groot variety shows -
I'm thinking not a vey good move with a possible civil war at south Africa's door step. What was her mom thinking or doesn't she know what has been going with the ANC land crab from white farmers with no compensation and many farmers being murdered. I know that South Africa is the home of Amira's mom but they could have gone elsewhere or better yet stayed in Holland.
Unfortunately one has removed the review of the performances here;😢 and thus also how Amira is watching her. But there is this video:😊☺ th-cam.com/video/C9c9aAT6OeE/w-d-xo.html from 2: 7

Exactly what makes Amira so unique as a vocalist. Her best performances are her live performances. Very unusual, especially for a young teen.
I thought it was just an interview, but then she sings.......it makes me cry AGAIN!!....Everytime!! Too Beautiful, an angel in the real world

Beautiful and inteligent Amira love your amazing voice. 👏👏💗💗💗
God bless this family wherever they go. These kids are amazing. Unfortunately, these days you don't see too many of them.
Amira, I hope you keep singing Opera songs. I really love hearing you sing them! Please!
What a girl from god Amira is.and what a beautiful family she has.
it seems that Amira is not going to see her father often , very sad !!
She's very sweet girl and extraordinary talented

This move will be a disaster for her career. And I see great trouble ahead. Holland is her home and birthplace, a world where she is worahipped and admired by all.*
PipersSon. Wow...you obviously don't now anything about South Africa, and the music industry here.
Starko blarky flarks!!!
Peace.
Evidently father is out of the equation with no mention of him.. Family split up? If so it is a shame.
Dennis C yes Dennis they divorced earlier this year. Terrible shame. Heartbroken for the children!
Amira moves to SA with mom and brother. And daddy stays in the Netherlands, I suppose? Divorce?
But there is this video:😊☺
