  • in 2006 i walked from the northern most place in Norway to the middle of Sweden. i took my time and enjoyed it. i made the mistake of wearing a light fleece shirt and when i washed it i the sink, it stretched in some parts of the garment and it was messed up but still wearable. this video is about you learning not to make the mistake i made with reference to choosing a shirt.

Just ordered a Fjallraven Singi in olive colour based on your review! Thanks, Andy!

@johnanon3081 you won't be disappointed. They're pricey, but you get the quality with it. And it's smart looking.

@@Andy-walkaboutnutty Just received it. You're right that it's a very sharp looking shirt for something that is meant to be used outdoors. It's a great fit, but I find the shoulders just slightly tight across the back if I go to put both arms out front. I noticed if I unbutton the underarm vents it gives me a little extra room, but not much. Still perfectly wearable, but might try sizing up if I get a 2nd one.
Just wondering what you do with the underarm vents. Do you usually keep them buttoned up, or do you leave them unbuttoned?

@johnanon3081 leave them unbuttoned. Then just forget about them. It makes no difference in the winter. You can still overheat, with the other layers, it's just too small a thing to worry about.

Does the Fjallraven shirt prevent biting insects from getting through? A lot of the 100% synthetic button downs do, but they often don't breathe very well because of it.

Reference biting insects, yes it stops them. That was my experience in Sweden. even the reindeer head towards the coast when the midges come out, they are hard core up there. I've never had a problem with these shirts with the breathability. I wear them in my day to day life and hiking with a rucksack. If it's hot when hiking, it's a case of opening up the front and role the sleeves up. The lower back gets sweaty with a rucksack on, but that's the same with any other shirt. I hope you find this useful johnanon3081. 🙂

Andy, do you buy these true to size? Or, recommend sizing up or down?

The fjallraven shirt on the left is true to UK size. The other, I'm not sure. I can't remember buying it, and it hasn't got a label in it due to it being reversible. Hope this helps 👍
