It makes sense that they are sitting on the box to truly focus on and turn all attention to their platform. You have to use only your platform and core to pass perfectly. Footwork is obviously there in gameplay, and in every other drill!

Any scientific proofs that sitting on a box is any good? It gets a little bit more real after 7:00. But still no real serves until the very last minute...

after your pasing/ball control of 45 minutes, how much remaing time do you have left in practice?

Then that same muscle memory comes into play at 7:00

I don't know. Lots of armchair quarterbacks, myself included. Real game touches. Sitting? No real game. They are getting better at passing while sitting on a box because that's what they are practicing. Last time I checked, there aren't boxes in a court during a game.

Also, velocity of the ball. Light fluffy balls coming at you isn't real game practice. You are getting better at hitting light fluffy balls because that is what you are practicing. Match a served ball velocity, then you are practicing what you will see in a game. And imitating real game dynamics is how to improve. Like practicing guitar while sitting. Great player while sitting, but since when is performing live done by sitting?
