I will always be impressed by how caravan palace rocks this genre of 1930s + modern music and makes it feel natural.
Uh, 1960's? The main sound of this was popular about 40 years before that, so the 20's-30's.
The swing era was mid-'30s to mid-'40s. But the thing that makes all electroswing feel weird to me is that it's always on a straight rhythm, not swung. It's harder to dance to as a result because the syncopation that forms a core part of most moves just isn't there. So if you're a dancer, it's not natural. It sticks out really obviously.

the part where the people in the crowd start dancing outside took serious skill. Swing dancing is hard to do, let alone master and do it in rhythm with several others. The choreography for this video is impressive

I took swing dance classes it's not that hard if your physically fit. You need string knees to bounce up and down on.

This is the definition of electro swing. If you're trying to get someone into the genre, this is probably the best thing to start with.
Parov's music got me into electro swing about a year ago. Some of his classics (All Night, Catgroove, Jimmy's Gang, etc.) truly encompass electro swing. At least that's my opinion

Anyone notice that this arrangement sounds totally different from the one in the album? There's a drum solo, a more prominent instrumental break and even a Walking Bass line. Even the lyrics are slightly different. Apart from the brief silence in the middle, I would've preferred this version over the album version since it has more flavor to it. It's still a wonderful song either way.

The thing I love about this band is that their music follows a simple chord line like swing music from the olden days. These old styles seem to be coming back into fame and this is an example of the way that we are almost rebooting it with new sounds

By searching a classic charleston or swing soundtrack for a Charlie Chaplin mute comedy, i discovered yesterday this music genre called electro swing. How on earth did this happen just one day ago and not years earlier remains for me a mystery. But i never heard on radio this kind of music. Neither in any club. Nobody told me ever that such a fantastic music genre exists. It is without a doubt a whole new world suddenly rising up for me and i am thrilled about it. So many amazing, almost unbelievable tracks...can' t stop dancing since yesterday. Thank You You tube for bringing me up here, thank You Universe for this. Feeling so grateful.

Swing was absurdly popular between the late 1920's- mid 1930's until about the late 1950's when other genres started taking the scene. But as they say. Swing is King. And in my opinion, it always will be.

This music video is really a loose and more modern interpretation of the 50s. But the actual music of Caravan Palace, and the genre of electro swing as a whole, are largely influenced by the Gatsby era 20s and 30s. Also, a lot of the dance moves in this video are from the 20s as well.
