How to Re-Roll Accessories to Control Grace | Nioh 2 Way of the Wise

- A short guide on how to use the stone of penance system in the new DLC (Darkness in the Capital) to upgrade divine accessories into ethereal--where they will receive a grace. If you don't want the grace, you can reroll the accessory using a large sudama. I demonstrate how this is done using a Yasakani Magatama.

I prefer the large Sudama in Hollow Fortress (Jump down the pit right at the start, go up the ladders, through one door and to your left half way around the cliff should be an entrance with an already looted chest, Sudama is behind that chest.) The reason I like it so much is because I'm insane and not only want the right grace but also the right * - value to begin with.
Clear the Yokai in front of the lift that is hiding in a Yokai realm, open that second door and return to the shrine. Now you have a straight path from the starting point to the Sudama, ~10 second run, and after trading the Yasanaki and not getting the right * - value just return to the main menu, reload and rinse and repeat.

Ive been trying to roll a Tsukuyomi grace yasakani with Melee damage vs zero ki for almost a week straight.... and you got what i needed first try. This RNG is killing the game for me hardcore

Lol but shit, you shouldn't be missing any loot at all! 1) Submit the green accessory 2) Level stone of Penance 3) If not grace you want, immediately close ap 4) Take back the green accessory and reroll it using a large sudama 5) Repeat at step 1

Yeah the prerolled grace was a bit of an annoyance. Even quitting the game and downloading the savegame from usb it still is prerolled. I forgot about the big Sudama. Next Yasakani I will try this. Thanks for the info.

Hey nice video one thing if I get the right grace but wrong stats how do I re-roll the stats to get star stats on them and does this work for other accessories too
Star bonuses are only available on drop -- they can't be tempered on. So getting the grace and star effects you want is very time consuming. I suggest just starting with the grace you want and then temper on acceptable bonuses to you.
This method does work for other accessories!

Yeah.. unfortunately, those get randomized as well. Once you get the accessory with a grace you want, I recommend just rerolling duplicate green versions until you get the dream effects desired.

If you get the right starred effect, but the wrong grace, then re roll it again with big Sudama, do you lose the starred effect you initially got?
Yes, unfortunately I think so. You could continually reroll to get it back, but I couldn’t get that to work for me at all much less efficiently. Maybe worth trying for your yasakani, but otherwise I wouldn’t recommend trying that.
For it to become ethereal, do you need to get to dotw? Im on demon right now and Im wondering if I can do that now? Also, what “+” does my stone of penance need la to be at?
Yes you need way of the wise for any ethereals to show up at all
+1-3 are all pretty good once you get there!👍

Maybe I missed it but what if I put a eternal accessory for stone...would it keep the grace...example if I do magatama with Acala grace and do stone of penitenc with it would it just re roll the attributes and keep the Acala grace?
No, ethereals can’t be rerolled. Only tempering is an option for changing the attributes at that point
So I have a yasakani and every time I drop it to a big Sudama after reclaiming it from the stone of penitence, the big sudama takes it and the payment, then drops lantern plant and a couple useless things and a green seemingly accessory that I can’t pick up. What’s going on here?
1 Greet big sudama
2 open the menu drop first the accesory you want to reroll and then second accesory make sure both accesories are divine.
Make sure you drop both fast without closing the menu.
Yes! Sorry if that wasn’t clear, you have to drop the yasa plus a trash divine accessory in that order!
I figured out what my issue was, it turns out not being able to pick up anything below ethereal means you can’t pick up anything you drop

Yeah I use the dojo master mission if I just wanna fill the bar. More often though, I'll just do whatever content I feel like and let it fill as it fills.
are the drops better with the sudama? than the one in the sanctuary of the viper
No, they're the same. The difference is speed. Still, the viper is the way to go if you reroll more than once for some reason, such as getting a specific weapon or piece of gear, or star effect on your accessory. Cherry blossom just seems quicker to me for a single roll.

A little late to the party, but does the Big Sudama roll DotN star stats as well? Sloth on Onmyo Hit for example?

I use the mission where u fight all the dojo masters, often, but it might not be the best choice. I’d recommend just clearing content as usual and grind penance in the background

What if u got the grace u want but just want to reroll the stats can u do that thru the sudama like the core ?
Unfortunately not, besides tempering. What I recommend is keeping the one you have and rolling new divine accessories to try to get new/better rolls. Find a green you want with a star effect you want, save those, and keep rolling them up to ethereal

Are you using a divine accessory? This only works with those.
If you're rerolling a divine accessory, I don't think those have graces before becoming ethereal -- though I didn't play much WotD.

No, an ethereal YM in stone of penance will always end up as the same and will not get rerolled by the large sudama. If you don't get what grace you want, quit the ap immediately and then reload to get your divine YM back. Just watch the vid again if you're still confused--I cover all this in depth. But if you're still confused after that, let me know!
my accessory from +value 98 went up to =111 but after that it won't increase anymore.. any ideas?
It only adds some defense anyway, but you can keep using the stone of penance on wotn to upgrade more. Might need to clear abyss first but idk

What if the gear is already etheral? Is there a way to change it back?
Unfortunately if it’s already ethereal, this method won’t work. Team Ninja made it so ethereal a cant be rerolled using this method, but divine and everything below divine can
And there is no way to downgrade rarity either.. sorry for bad news, but it’s a matter of time and loot before you get what you need. Just stick with it bro!
This does not work for me. When I go to the big Sudama I always get the same Yasakani again. The same grace with the same attributes.
You are not following all the steps. You need to quit if you don’t get the grace you want then reroll the divine version. Then start over. Please watch the vid again n lmk if you’re still having trouble

Yes, tho 4/5’s of the stats probably. one effect will usually get rerolled into a star effect
Do u need to level it up to plus 1 in order to successfully rinse and repeat ?
It will tell you what the chances are with each level -- I'd say +1 - +3 is the most you'd go

Good luck! That will have to be a drop though -- I don't think the new graces drop from the stone of penance becuase of a glitch. It may be fixed though!
is it normal to be under leveled in nioh 2? I'm on lvls that say recommend 65..and I'm just 50?
Yeah it’s pretty normal. Look at the red icons more - 5 or 4 out of 5 means you might want to gear/level up
But the rec level thing doesn’t mean too much
It's actually more about your average item level than anything (with every +1 later on counting for 10 levels) you should aim to have about that as an average gear or you're going to have a bad time and might want to farm some and raise your + levels. But that is Ng+ onward.

Still works great but if you finished abyss, using scrolls of the damned for your grace with lucky drop equipped accessory might be better

Yeah, it works great too. The viper one is way better if you plan to re-roll anything more than once, also.

Graces start getting good at wotw and wotn, but some are in dotd
You don’t need final difficulty but some only become available much much later

I am getting so frustrated with the rolls I am getting. I now have rolled around 8 Acala's grace yasa with great other stats. Just a shame I dislike that grace set up more than any other! Just the way RNG goes I suppose.
Daaaamn that is pretty bad luck but it will break soon - just be patient and just take a break from focusing on rolling if it gets too frustrating. Don’t let this annoying little hitch ruin an otherwise awesome experience!

It should. You need to double drop like in the vid, and it has to be divine rarity or lower. Ethereal Won’t work

So you have to upgrade the stone in order for the Devine to become ethereal? Or can you put it in and take it out right away? If I gotta level the stone where’s the fastest place? Just a boss rush area?
You've got to level it up. Recommended level up a stone to +2 (increase the pain is the option chosen for this) bc it ups the chance from 80-100% chance on both + value and rarity. And best way I found to quickly do stones is with scolls. Also to get ethereal rarity you have to select way of the wise for difficulty in the stone and do missions in way of the wise or scolls of the wise

Good luck to both of y'all -- I usually level it at the dojo master boss rush. One run of that fills the bar for me, but I just use a +1. 90% ethereal upgrade has been good enough for me usually.
@@LeagueofMilk I do +2 bc I was doing just +1 for a little bit then got 5 divines in a row so just to elim that possibility, I decided to to +2. Also from what I've read, the higher + value on your stone it also helps drop rates of higher level/rarity items as well as items with more unique effects

The new graces will only appear in way of the nioh and idk if this method would work with stone of penance to get new graces for sure, but I don't see why not.
Just make sure you have stone of penance set to way of the nioh.

I think there's a glitch where this only works with the graces you can get in WotW, so maybe not...
what if i have a yasakani with perfect stats, but with an ethereal grace i don't need? that sudama gonna reroll all my perfect stats too :(
It will, unfortunately.. sorry--it's a grind and a half, but once you have a solid yasakani in place, everything else for your build is pretty easy to get by comparison.
It Takes too much time to get the Right stats from the Sudama
The stats on the reroll don't matter much.. when it goes to ethereal--if it gets a star effect in addition to a grace, which is most of the time--everything gets randomized again.

I don't think so -- the grace would stay hidden and the same. Only a sudama reroll can change it.

Yes, this works in WotN, too -- there is a small catch/glitch though. I heard you can only get the first 8 graces from WotW, and not the new Nioh or Underworld ones. So the new graces might need a different method for getting accessories.
This method is not what you should do to roll a good accessory for your build.
First you want to "big sudama" a divine accessory, to roll at least a starred mod you are aiming for (e.g. : melee dmg vs 0-ki, sentience charge, melee dmg vs status, etc.).
Only after you have such an accessory you try to make it ethereal and get a grace on it.
Unfortunately you can only "big sudama" divine accessories, as ethereal ones cannot be rerolled in such a way.
Your method lets you aim for the perfect grace, but you are missing on the starred mods which are a big part for a build.
It's sub-optimal.

Thanks. I do know about this method. I maybe should have mentioned it, but it seemed kinda in-the-weeds -- this video is more for just starting the DLC and trying to build your first grace set.
Though speaking sub-optimal, divine accessories can roll fewer star effects than ethereal, so you are missing out on additional star effects by using that method. Eventually even using that method, you may want to come back to this method to roll more than 2 star effects.

Ethereals cannot be rerolled, in any know way.
The stone just adds a grace and one more mod to your accessory. The other mods you have remain exactly as before: you end up with the random grace plus a random mod which has a high probability of being starred. So your final accessory may have a single starred mod.
If you farm a big sudama, instead, you're sure you have at least the one star mod you like, plus you may get one more when you "stone" it for a total of 2!
I'm speaking from direct experience. This way I was able to get a Yasa with starred melee dmg vs 0-ki (sudama'ed) and a star sentience charge (randomly added when I "stoned" it) plus Susano's grace. And I got many more accessories with 2-3 starred mods with this method (even though some were useless to me because of the wrong grace).

I figured the stone could add 3+ starred effects like other ethereal drops but hadn't seen it happen yet, so that makes sense. Ty for the info again -- I'll give this a shot.

Why I only have 80% change and you have 90 its not giving me any grac
Just level up the stone once or twice instead of turning it it immediately. I forget what the menu calls it.. but it goes +1-9

It's a pain, but just keep at it -- it'll drop eventually either from penance method or in the world, and it may even come with a sweet star effect or two. Good luck and may RNGesus bless you.

Really wish they added grace and rarity inheritance for accessories. I hate the rng in this game (still love the game though) and there is no benefit in team ninja making it excessively difficult to do builds.
Yeah...it’s weird. They’ve moved in the right direction with each DLC, so here’s hoping they remove more rng filters to making a great build.
Exactly, they added many great sets for making various builds. In theory the builds can be great but in practice it can take so long to finish them by then you feel burned out.
