  • On this Episode of Rock Rods Tech Class is in session and the subject is Shock Tuning 101 as Jake Burkey shows you how to properly tune a set of coilovers for off road use. It doesn't matter how well you designed the suspension on your 4x4 if you don't do some shock tuning. Contrary to popular belief Coilover shocks like the Radflos on Hitman's Kill Shot buggy are not ready to go straight out of the box. It doesn't matter if you have King, Fox, or any other brand a little bit of time spent tuning them for you driving style and setup will make your vehicle perform much better. The process is basically the same for all manufacturers.
    If you need a good set of Coilovers you can purchase them from us at bustedknuckleoffroad.com/Suspe...

    MORE PLEASE! Great show. I enjoy these as much as the actual videos of them running. Great to see the minds behind the machines. And Jake your buggy is dialed. Noticed you walking right up stuff in some recent videos. Great stuff guys

    Dude. I am the biggest dune buggy fan of all time and I believe you are the best. I have subscribed, liked and shared every video so far that I have watched (only found you 2 days ago). Dune buggy KING! You gave me the knowledge to build my own monster (have no clue where to start I am a noob)! Love you brother and keep up the good work! Give us some 2019 - 2020 masterpieces. If I had money I would buy one from ONLY YOU right now, I won't even drive it, just look at it, a master piece made by the dune buggy King and your signature somewhere to brag about. The chassis are a form of art, along with the way all parts are assembled. A true master you are indeed.

    Awesome tech Advise for the Shocks. I'm familiar with all this Because I used to Have RC Off road Buggies and trucks. Same principles. I know every driver is different ! Some would prefer to almost float across the Rocks and keep the Tires planted !

      Keeping your tires on the ground is how you get faster

    That was cool. Many of my questions answered in such a short video. I would loved to see one related to tires. I see so many different tires used on these machines and some that are modified. I would love to know why these guys choose the tires they use.

    Buddy awesome video now I don't have a sweet buggy like that nor could I afford one lol but I do build RC trucks and I am currently building a RC rock bouncer 1/10 scale the hole cage will be 1/16 brake tube but anyway I also have a very sweet scale Toyota RC with a full exo cage and I always have a hard time getting my trucks RC lol to move like a real truck and have the shocks work just right and not cause the truck to bounce out of control but I never really understood the shocks and how to get them to work how I won't now I I know there a lot smaller but they work all the same I really appreciate your making this video thanks

    Hey guys I plan on ordering shim stacks from you guys for my radflo shocks. However I have a question since I am new to radflo. I am trying to optimize the shock to sock up small to medium bumps and choppy terrain. I know with KING you use flutter stacks to get a softer low speed, or extend the soft zone. Is the principle the same with radflo?

    What would you recommend for a ford excursion with a 8 in lift and running 37

    • @BustedKnuckleVideo
      @BustedKnuckleVideo  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      We could set you up with a nice set of emulsion shocks like some from Radflo or Fox that would help the ride a bit. Is the lift all springs or block as well?

    • @therealist1872
