If you want to hear an amazing story, look up Robert Plant talking about the time Led Zeppelin went to see Elvis and were invited back to Elvis' hotel suite. Such an amazing story. Really thought a lot of Robert Plant as a person after hearing that.
Is that the time they ended up swapping jewelry with each other? I read about it in their former manager's book and he said one of Elvis's bodyguards told Zeppelin as they were leaving they hadn't seen Elvis have such a good time in a long while.
I’ve seen that and it’s wonderful. There’s a clip where EP starts the stage show and stops singing and the band stops playing when EP says, “Now look, Led Zeppelin is here tonight so let’s act like we know what we’re doing even if we don’t.” It’s so funny! They ended up spending about two hours together in EP’s suite before wrapping up and then Plant and Presley sang to each other. Plant had tears in his eyes when telling the story because he really loved EP’s vocal ability.

Actually Elvis praised the Beatles when discussing the music shift from the 50’s to the 70’ and other upcoming bands during the come back special in 68. Elvis was a generous heart that treated everyone with respect. He was good to everyone but himself, unfortunately. RIP king!

Elvis was an unique celebrity in every way. Every celebrity who has died over the last 60 years was hardly cold in the ground when there emerged all kinds of horror stories of how they used their celebrity status to abuse young women and men and treat people like dirt. Elvis is now gone 45 years and not one single story of bad behavior by the 'king' has come to light. He was one decent human being who treated the people he met, whether rich or poor with dignity and respect. When someone is as gifted as Elvis was, there is always a price to pay and though he fought bravely as only a true King could, he was eventually defeated by the demons who had haunted him for so long. But what a treasure trove he left behind for us and following generations to enjoy. Was Elvis the greatest of them all?...course he was!!

At least Elvis was smart in keeping his political views to himself. Unlike many celebrities today. That's the way you keep ALL of your fans is by keeping those views to yourself.
If celebrities are passionate about politics, then there is no problem with them talking about it and speaking their mind on current world issues. Most rock and roll has roots in politics. It came up from the old African American blues musicians telling how their lives were. Then it transitioned into the 60s when the next gen was protesting the war. Then the 70s when they were protesting government control on drugs. Then in the 80s they were protesting censorship and the Reagan administration. Politics have always made their way into rock and roll from it’s very start, whether it be Little Richard, The Beatles, Black Sabbath, or Judas Priest. They had millions of fans, and were still passionate about politics, and have thousands of fans who don’t even agree with their political stance, but love the music.
Elvis got a long with everyone. He may of thought differently in private. That was his right. Not everyone is likeable. Some were down right rude to people and even fans. You could never say that about Elvis. He adored all of his fans. Always tried to make his fans like him and happy. Don't Be Cruel, Suspicious Minds and many more.
You'll Never Walk Alone - I love the way he sang Gospel music. His voice though still rich is so loving, tender and and even respectful, full of worship for Almighty God. It's what I play when driving my car, makes me feel like angels are flying along side of me, protecting me. As far as everything else he sang, I can't pick a favorite. They are are so filled with mainly joy but also real emotion. He was a heavenly gift in more ways than one. Thank you Elvis for being real.

Yes, Elvis has countless movies made about him, and even has hit songs written about him, with such radio classics as "Black Velvet" "Walking In Memphis" and "Going To Graceland." Apparently, there are a few people that claim that most people don't know who he is, but still comment about him constantly. lol.
I'm a fan of both Lennon and Elvis. In terms of wit and humour, i'd pick Lennon over Elvis, but in terms of manner and hospitality, i'd pick Elvis anytime. Still, both are unique in their own way
Sinatra’s beef wasn’t with Elvis but Rock in general. Sinatra is famous for his emotional ties with the lyrics. He called many of his ballads as poetry set to music. He complained that with harder rock you couldn’t hear what the lead singer was saying...Elvis and Frank got along very well and for many years...
I’m with The King Elvis when it comes to Lennon. The problem that Old Blue Eyes had with Elvis and Rock N Roll is that rock music was making a Crooner like Frank and his type of music obsolete.
@@laurawilloughby4000 No he bloody did not. Cynthia herself said he hit her once during the early part of their relationship and felt so bloody bad about it he never touched her again!
True. And then, by 1965, Elvis's type of music became obsolete. However, in truth, all great music -- e.g., Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, the Beatles, the Melvins -- stands the test of time, beyond pop culture trends.

When Elvis died, John Lennon famously said, Elvis died when he joined the Army. Having said that, John Lennon did say that he enjoyed meeting Elvis in 1965 saying "it was great." I got the quote from the Beatles Anthology.
When it comes to Elvis vs. John Lennon, there aren't many instances when I would agree with Lennon, but I can see where he was coming from when he made this statement. Early Elvis was the man who inspired him to become who he was. Personally, I have always thought that Elvis' best work - BY FAR, was that which he did before he went in the Army. After he came back, he was still Elvis, but he was never again "Elvis" in my mind, and apparently, also in the mind of John Lennon. Having said that, if I had to choose between listening to the music (and being a fan of) either Elvis or the Beatles, give me Elvis - every single time. Long live The King! May they both rest in peace.
And, it lead to his mother dying too young. Elvis was deeply wounded by being drafted at the ripe age of 23. How come they didn't draft him when he was 18, 20 ? We were not even at war. Oh, and none of his contemporary were drafted..
Well, one big difference between Elvis and Lennon was that Elvis loved America and Lennon believed in Communism. John Lennon was proud of the fact that when he wrote the song IMAGINE as a musical version of THE COMMUNIST MANIFESTO most American kids sang it, loved it, and had no idea what they were singing.
He was a great mate of Ali and John lennon in concert said I love you Elvis . Frank and Elvis were good mates and supported many charities together so this is pretty overblown .
Yes, I remember a concert with Elton John and guest John Lennon. They sang a cool cover of (You ain't nothing but a) Hound Dog. In the middle of the song, John Lennon said, "Elvis I love you". This live cover was released on John Lennon's 4-CD Box Set.
I was and still am a big Elvis fan. When the Beatles first started, I thought they were okay singers, but the only one who has a pretty good voice was Paul. the rest were average.. John Lennon seemed to be very full of himself. He said, "Elvis died the day, he went into the army." I think Elvis is still wowing them, and just go to Graceland and see what he means to so many fans. Since he came on the scene in 1956, he has amassed as of 2017, 197 gold, Platinum, multi platinum and diamond certification awards. Also in 2017 the Beatles had 122. Case closed.
Both Lennon and McCartney were fantastic singers, fantastic song writers and fantastic performers, and, on top of that, hilarious in their interviews.. There will never be a band that come close to what the Beatles achieved. I think your adoration of Elvis is clouding your judgement. F.uk all those stupid certification awards. The Beatles have the most No. 1 hits of all time - case closed.
Elvis has more gold, silver, and platinum records is because he had more recorded material than the Beatles. Using commercial success, the amount of hit records, or records that were certified gold, silver or platinum is not a measure of who is better. 122 gold, silver, and platinum records is not a small achievement.
John Lennon and Elvis are both in the top 10 tier of Rolling Stones Magazine's 100 greatest singers if all time. McCartney is no.11 but still not bad. But I think Lennon, Roy Orbison, Tom Jones are the best singers.
I wish Elvis lived to see the revival in the 1980's of the music he began in 1954...he would have lived it and given us even more songs to enjoy , maybe with "rockabilly" revivalists playing.
How do you know if he died you know that body in coffin don't look like him they made him look like a man from his fifties not the man who weighed 250 pounds..
@@MrmaruC to be fair Elvis did gain and lose weight fast because of the water retention from the sickness and prescription. Which is why in 1977, there are concerts where Elvis looked very bloated, and like a week later at another concert alot thinner.
When the Beatles arrived at Graceland they came in and sat down in a music room. Elvis came in sat down and the Beatles just sat there not saying a word. Just staring at Elvis. Elvis said, if you are not going to talk, I'll go back to bed. Then the conversation and "jam" session began.
The Elvis/Beatles meeting was not at Graceland, it was at one of Elvis’s houses in Bel Air California. But you are correct about the other things you mentioned.

I never cared for The Beetles. I never cared for Elvis either but Elvis put his career on hold to serve his country. He didn’t dodge the draft or refuse to participate while enjoying the spoils of their American fame……..unlike some
I love so much of his catalog, but the three winners are: “Peace in the Valley” “Promised Land” “Hound Dog/Santa Claus is back in town (original without big band backing) (Tie)” I mean there is so much, but these are the ones that really resonate w Me
Elvis loved the Beatles music ( He often sang their classics on stage or in rehearsals. He loved Something. yesterday. Hey Jude. And Get Back ) but yeah he didn't like their persona much. However he had a jam session with them that was never recorded. I would give anything to hear that
Apparently Elvis wasn't too impressed by John Lennon's comment about the Beatles being bigger than Jesus Christ. To anyone who held religious beliefs, that would have been sacrilegious.
I think it was very hypocritical of Elvis to dislike The Beatles. Because people didn’t like him either for some of the same reasons. Remember Elvis’s appearance on the Milton Burrell show?!!
He just had a comedy voice and could hit high notes like other musicians....and I mean falsetto type notes....all his songs sound the same with that comedy huh huh sound he had.....he was just a novelty act to me....but if people like him then that is their taste.

I don't think he would've of covered five of their tunes, if he truly didn't at least acknowledge The Beatles. I don't think Elvis cared for John Lennon that much because the man was criticized in the deep south bible belt for saying The Beatles were bigger than Jesus. Because Elvis would not talk bad about anyone publicly while alive, they want to start wars over pure speculation. The Richard Nixon thing was for a badge. He collected them. Later, Elvis met with Jimmy Carter. Elvis was still doing "Something" in concert, and would later do "Little Sister/Get Back" in 1972. Frank Sinatra hated rock n roll, but later softened up on his rants when he realized that he was still successful as an artist. Elvis stayed away from expressing his views on religion and politics, which is why the liberal media likes to attack dead people, who can not even defend themselves. Elvis served in the US Army and chose not to be a draft dodger. They assume Elvis was a Republican, when he really had no interest in any political office.
@Chris Wyatt The daughter of President John F Kennedy, Caroline Kennedy attended Elvis's funeral in Memphis. She is part of the Kennedy dynasty of Democratic leadership. Besides that, Elvis was distantly related to Jimmy Carter. As far as his mama and daddy, I don't know if they even voted. They were dirt poor and I doubt they followed politics.
lennon was misquoted. he said 'the beatles have become more popular than jesus' which actually remains true. jesus is exclusively worshipped by christians, where the beatles' fandom isn't restricted by any religion.

Wasn't it John Lennon that made the statement that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus and that rock and roll was going to outlast christianity? I think many Americans wanted him removed on that statement alone.
I heard the story about Lennon's Canadian "bed-in" protesting the Vietnam War, where an interviewer came up to him and found him wearing pajamas and asked Lennon if he thought he looked silly. Lennon replied that he did not mind looking silly if he saved one life. The reporter replied to Lennon that he was deluded if he thought he saved a single life. No way to know if this was real or not.
Nowadays, its Rap that is the true evil of demoralizing - “Without Elvis, there would be no Beatles,” John Lennon stated matter-of-factly in a 1980 interview.
There is no more rock n roll, rap crap has taken over as the most mainstream music. Think about it...the only bands who are big are old school ones. I like SOME lyrical rap artists, but most of the mumble rap, lean drinking, autotuned, hoe flashing GARBAGE can go. We need someone like Elvis, The Beatles, Kurt Cobain to shake up music and bring on something new...but sadly the don't make many like them. :(
What form of music should Elvis been grateful for? Without black music, Elvis would have retired on the garage truck. Plz let’s give credit where credit is do. Elvis was a great showman, however, he never “invented rock n roll!!!”
I think rap was OK in the early nineties. It's evolved a lot over the years and I don't like the direction it's going in but I wouldn't call the style itself to be evil.
The Beatles exspected too much of the meeting with Elvis I guess and then were disappointed that Elvis was surrounded by the so-called Memphis Mafia and other hangers-on. As McCartney put it later: The Beatles had each other but Elvis as a solo artist and star was in a way depended on those people and when they realized that they took advantage of it.

That’s like saying without Einstein there would be no theory of relativity. Someone else would have eventually figured it out. But Paul McCartney owes some of his style to Elvis, but also to Little Richard so who knows? Without Elvis the Beatles would still be possible if not quite the same. The Rolling Stones would still be totally possible without Elvis, but may have been different without Chuck Berry.
This 1972 meeting would be at Madison Square Garden where Elvis broke attendance records being the first to sell out 4 shows there. Many other big time entertainers were in the audience.
Elvis shot out the TV with Goulet because, when Elvis was in Germany, away from his pretty, blonde, actress/singer girlfriend, Anita Wood, she once sent Elvis a letter on which Goulet (whom she was working with at the time) scrawled a note at the bottom saying something like, “Don’t worry about Anita, Elvis. I’m taking good care of her.” Anita was one of the women Elvis loved and this comment pissed him off. So years later, when his drug addictions, etc. were really bad, and he saw Goulet on screen, he blasted the TV , saying afterwards, “That’ll be enough of that shit.” He probably regretted that Anita dumped him because of Priscilla.
Every generation rebels against the prior generation, and becomes more liberal/progressive, so although Elvis was liberal for his generation, he still wasn’t as liberal as the next generation...and at that time, both republicans and democrats didn’t generally stand the Beatles opinions...
While I disagree with Elvis' support for LBJ, Richard Nixon and Edgar J Hoover, I think Elvis was just a very conservative and a law abiding US citizen! He was a pioneer in Rock and Roll and he deserves that status! John Lennon was provocative with a big ego, but I fully support his resistance to the Vietnam War - the War was so unnecessary and immoral!
When it comes to LBJ, Nixon, and Hoover, today we have the benefit of hindsight. At the time, Elvis would have had no way of knowing about their corruption. I'm sure he was just a good, patriotic American who supported our leaders. He served in the military under Ike.
Elvis didn’t have to worry about any of them because he surpassed them all even today he was number one. Women desired him and men wanted to be like him.
I got to say, don't know how much alot of this is true since it's sources are from the guardian and the guy who got Lennon and elvis together. But I become more of an elvis fan each day when I see how much inspiration the beatles had for him when they started and just his general talent.

Elvis has more gold, silver, and platinum records is because he had more recorded material than the Beatles. What is my Favorite Elvis Presley Song Ll of them including Gospel.R.I.P. Evis Presley The King Of Rock And Roll #1Forever Amen USA 🤷🏼♂️🎼💯💖🛐✝️😇🙏🙏🙏🦅🐻🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
@@jpbart1390 don't ever mock Jesus n what Lennon said was hypocrite I know he's dead n lot people didn't like him cause his religion beliefs but God is in control of the universe. So therefore don't ever mock God bc without him we wouldn't be nothing..Elvis was a true Christian believer n he might be king of rock n roll but the reality is Jesus is only king he even said himself.. I'm just entertainer only Jesus is king..
@@MrmaruC well, i'm sorry i mocked your imaginary friend,...NOT!
@@jpbart1390 don't ever mock God again bc people have done that now their dead..n Lennon wasn't Christian he wasn't bigger than Jesus you just blasphemy. Lennon was hypocrite angry man certainly nor bigger than elvis!!
My grandfather would’ve loved to of met Elvis personally. He probably would’ve busted a gut seeing Elvis shoot out a TV.
One time I showed him the Django unchained. When he saw Schultz shoot the sheriff; he said “I like this guy. He’s direct!” I miss you old man!
ALL his love songs.... so beautiful.... but Always on my Mind, It's now or Never are favourite. xxx
Wasn't it John Lennon that made the statement that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus and that rock and roll was going to outlast christianity? I think many Americans wanted him removed on that statement alone.
Well he also said that before Elvis there was nothing
Rock and Roll didn’t outlast Christianity
Elvis was a asshole
At the time the Beatles were more popular than Jesus. Just that you're not allowed to say such things. Such blasphemy - tut, tut!
No way to know if this was real or not.
good for Elvis... Even back then people trying to use the USA .. Long live Elvis!!!!!
Damn straight !
@@queencerseilannister3519 The old school bands are out there. Unfortunately they can't get heard. Stop listening to classic rock and top 40.
What form of music should Elvis been grateful for?
Without black music, Elvis would have retired on the garage truck.
Plz let’s give credit where credit is do.
Elvis was a great showman, however, he never “invented rock n roll!!!”
There was Buddy Holly before Elvis. Who band the Crickets John named the Beatles after .
If Elvis hated The Beatles so much , why did he include their songs in his live show ?
He was so high off pills he forgot he hated them
Elvis only backflipped his opinion because he felt threatened for his legacy and status. The Beatles stole the show in the 60s and he hated it.
The Beatles couldn't even stand each other 😆
@@loganlefley1616 elvis never hated anyone
@@MrmaruC Maybe Elvis didn't hate but dislike some people. What's wrong about that? Why do Elvis a disservice and try to take away his humanity and make him a saint?
Well...Engelbert certainly kept the Beatles out of #1 for a year with his smash hit Release Me!!!
Quite frankly, Englebert is underrated and better than the Beatles!
Right ON!
Only in his own country,Over here "Penny Lane" was #1.
@@PNFLnetwork Hahahahahahahahahaha.. So funny. That guy Justin Beiber his wayyyyyyyyyyy better than Humperdinck and he sucks!
Dont ever put The Beatles in the same category as Humperdinck... 😠
I was kind of stung when Engelbert was mentioned. The very first thing I heard when I came to America was A Man Without Love.
"I don't remember I spent most of the party trying to suss out from his gang if anybody had any reefer" LMFAO and that's why George Harrison is my favorite Beatle RIP TO that freaking Legend
George went to see Elvis in Vegas in the early seventies and talked to him again backstage.
So true. Harrison was about as down to earth as any megastar could possibly be. Great sense of humor and straight up honest in every interview I’ve ever seen him give. His ability to maintain genuine and modest was key to his undeniable appeal. Hands down my favorite Beatle and a tremendous talent in his own right. Cheers!
George wasn't just the Quiet Beatle, he was the BORING Beatle too.....so lucky to have been asked to join the band....
@@colderbeer Lay of the cold beer, it’s clearly starting to dumb you down.
Lie george was talking about Priscila cause the reporter asked him if remembered he saw her the night the Beatles met elvis
Without Elvis there would be no Beatles!! #fact
George was a good friend of Elvis and went to see him new York in 72 George also rote the the song something which elvis recorded
I thought it was Vegas. You're probably right.
So if George was such a good friend why is he being so indifferent and dismissive of Elvis in this video? Really NOT COOL.
George was not a good friend of Elvis , only met him once or twice
This 1972 meeting would be at Madison Square Garden where Elvis broke attendance records being the first to sell out 4 shows there. Many other big time entertainers were in the audience.
All of The Beatles were fans of Elvis, even if they didn't like his later career all that much. I don't think they were friends, though.
LMAO at all the lies and misinformation in this video.
So am I. All lies, lies, lies.
Your right, All those singers did like Elvis
Clint Eastwood is dead. He had throat cancer. He was 91.
Great channel. Wonderful content. 🖖🏻🇨🇦
God bless us all 🙏🏿🌎❤️
Elvis was the best ,no matter what!! The Beatles could never come close to Elvis!!
wasn't he a drug user?
He was the greatest. What’s your favorite Elvis song?
Elvis never wrote a song. He just covered other peoples.
Many people considered Elvis to be unkempt, subversive, unruly, wild, and indecent long before Elvis described the Beatles that way.
100%. But he and his team stuck it out and, we're all better off for it.
Elvis was the best person and singer wat he may of been right in its days
No singer then and now can say they did nothing wrong but Elvis has been getting crap written about him for years
Lo no no no
Every generation rebels against the prior generation, and becomes more liberal/progressive, so although Elvis was liberal for his generation, he still wasn’t as liberal as the next generation...and at that time, both republicans and democrats didn’t generally stand the Beatles opinions...
We need to stay out of people's private lives !
Why do we???
Says the person who clicked on this video.
Start with yourself.
I don't care
Elvis and Frank Sinatra was in fact good friends.Sinatra was very worried about Elvis health until the very end and called Elvis often.
Elvis's input in this film; - 'Honey, I'd just as soon to keep my own personal views about that to myself'..
Can't forgive Elvis for trying to pull strings with the FBI to ban The Beatles.
Elvis was right
I’m with Elvis!!🤟🏻
dead?
Elvis didn’t have to worry about any of them because he surpassed them all even today he was number one. Women desired him and men wanted to be like him.
WHO SHOT ELVIS ?
I got to say, don't know how much alot of this is true since it's sources are from the guardian and the guy who got Lennon and elvis together. But I become more of an elvis fan each day when I see how much inspiration the beatles had for him when they started and just his general talent. The beatles to me are great but elvis is the king baby. Just too cool and I really like the orchestral work he has in his discography
Not much.... it's mostly bullcrap.
In later years, Elvis relied on Sinatra for advice about his career and other matters.
Elvis was conservative, John Lennon was a liberal. That sums it up for the both of us. One was square, one was a hippie. 🇺🇸🏴
I know hippies mean well and good these days but, why do they have to go to communes?
Elvis is pure
