The face of the league is one of those things, "You can't define it but you'll know it when you see it."

JT is a system type of player.
When he is on the court you might not notice him but when he sits, you can notice that the team doesn't function as usual.
He is special because he can do everything that you ask him to and one of the things is to take the back seat.
Jason tatum is very unique. And the media can't aknowledge for what he is and does.

Hes actually not a system player. That's quite possibly what he's least like. He's a iso-guy (kobe adulation) that has reformed his game to THIS team.

He’s a hooper. Period. Just laces up, goes out, and balls out. But doesn’t quite have the charisma or standout personality to carry a league yet. He could end up best player in the world, but probably won’t ever be face of league. Think Tim Duncan.

      (3) Steph Curry; and

These two just gave a horrible comparison between the face of baseball and the face of basketball. You can’t logically compare the two. For example, unlike basketball, a single star or individual in baseball and other sports cannot carry a below average team (talent-wise), to the championship or deep into the playoffs. It’s more of a team effort. For example, what would be the equivalent in baseball or football, to that first Cleveland Cavaliers team Lebron took to the Finals? It’s not going to happen in baseball, football or soccer, no matter how good a star on that team is.

Hes done what team needed to win, guarded 5s against mavs. He might get better next few years. Anyway if theyre like 2000s Pistons that were winning without a superstar, theyre still best.
JT chose winning over all, and thats much more important. they managed to put their egos aside this year, with all-start starting lineup that worked as 1. Nobody cried about his shots, about role, about packing order. With 5 guys like that you cant play like Luka or Lebron. Wouldnt work, those guys are not just spot-up shooters. They used KP in the middle as a hub and he either distributed or finished over guys , when he was with Luka it just didnt work. Also JB had a ball a lot, White had a ball a lot, they even used old man Al down low to mix it up, a little postups. Thats why (with KP healthy) its a coin toss between those 3 who would be a series MVP, depending on matchup.

If you want to be the FACE of the league you have to have a few things.
You got to be American born
X- Factor ( A fear factor for other teams )
A game everyone likes to watch, it looks good , it feels a bit flashy or has a bit of wow factor to it
    A likeable personality
Something the Kids can relate to and aspire to be
Im not sure Tatum has enough of these.
Jokic yes let me repeat that JOKIC! has more personality that Tatum , thats how unremarkable the guy is. Hes like a manufactured NPC playing it safe all the time. Edwards has sas, Ja is a bad boy, these are all personality traits people gravitate to.

The players speak in cliche's, hate the fans, and play a drive and kick, 3 point shooting style of play. The prices are too high for tickets and the players that seem to give a damn, are from Eastern Europe.

3:51 to his point here, IDK this is true bc i’m not from boston, but i feel like people go to see the celtics as a whole, not just to see jayson tatum. if he was on the pistons no one would care as much. if it’s melo/kd on the pistons, well people are still going to see them drop 50 😂

Much harder to win the whole thing in baseball if you are the best player. 1/9 chance buddy!

Isn’t there room for a new or different model? The notion of winning occurring through shared leadership is too much for these people to handle. He is the overall better player but his teammate is a dog in critical moments when he doesn’t have it. It’s called teamwork.
The CEO is great and the COO steps in and sures up the gaps when things get crazy. Sounds like a good leadership team to me. The old guard has to go.

How can he be face of the NBA if he's not the face of the team. Jaylen Brown, his spot winning conference MVP and Finals MVP

This topic is pointless and subjective...i never saw kobe curry or lbj as the face of the sport...

Then you're in the extreme minority. Metrics, views, and revenue across all forms of media displayed that at different times, Kobe, Curry and LBJ have been among the faces of the league.

It doesn’t matter if you think they were the face of the league. Every one else and the media thought they were.

JT is not that guy because he complains. Nobody can complain the way he does and be backed by the majority of fans.
