He was overrated. Very little skill, fought dirty, had fights fixed for him. Groves was a local duffer that beat the hell out of him, saved by a corrupt referee that had orders to make sure Froch won. Anthony Dirrell beat his ass and they gifted the decision to Froch. He was losing this fight by a lot. Got his ass handed to him by Andre Ward. Took a beating from Kessler. They had to fix a fight for him against a journeyman because they feared he might lose. Froch was stiff, uncoordinated and he had a big ego. Most of the punches he landed were behind the head in a clinch. He never beat a top fighter unless the judges had his back. There was a few top fighters in the U.K. like Eubank sr., Calzaghe and Lewis. Froch was a bum that was backed up to protect him.
Froch made a mockery of my predictions fight after fight. Far greater than the sum of his parts Carl Froch. I wish there were more fighters with his mentality to boxing. What a great career
John Robertson Froch takes to many punches and it is time to hang up his jock strap while he still has his marbles .What good is a title and a belt and being punchy .His trainer told him from the beginning of the fight to hold up hid gloves but he did the opposite ,he was beat to the punch all the time and only because he could take a punch he survived .Froch just Aint world class and never was and the other guy is also finnished .It`s the truth and sad but true .Sometimes ya have to know when to quit

Yup, as soon as I saw that, I realised how nervous he was. He knew he didn't have a ton left and still had 3 rounds to not lose. Basically the same story as every football team ever having a 1-nil lead and playing to not lose.
Taylor had a disheartened look on his face about halfway through. I think that's when he stopped counting the rounds and was just trying to last til the end, because he started to look elated by the 10th round as he was thinking 'almost there'

Froch had that habit which was popular at the time, of boxing with his left hand down by his knees but without the speed or reflexes to get his head out of the way of right hands! How he enjoyed so much success at top level is still beyond me??
@@SupraT-vj1lq Great reply and I agree with everything you say. It was all influenced by Jones and to a slightly lesser extent, Mayweather. Froch may never have been as successful had there been a later Usyk or Lomachenko influence. He certainly would not have been so exciting! It's the same in all sports where a successful individual or team will exert influence over the prevailing style. We have seen this in soccer with National and Club teams impersonating the Spanish Tiki-Taka style characterised by lots of short passes. Personally, I hate to watch it but it will pass out of fashion when other styles prevail.
the only thing that held Jermaine Taylor back for being an undefeated or maybe an all time SMW great is his finishing instincts. he's lack of it. he has the skills to take the title of the greatest super middleweight ever but him not trying to finish the fights he's winning costed him a lot. happened in the Pavlik fight, and happened here as well.
This fight reminds me so much of Chaves, and Meldrick Taylor. That's what I love about 12 round fights, and the 15 round fights we had back in the day. I love watching the difference in fighters between the first 6 rounds, and the last 6 rounds. Seeing the tide of war shifting when fatigue, and pain sets in is what I love most about top notch boxing. I love Jermain Taylor, but Froch was a huge roadblock for Taylor to come back from his back-to-back defeats at the hands of Pavlik. Taylor always gave his opponents respect, but I truly believe he didn't realize that he was in for a war in this fight until the first 6 round ended. Froch really dragged Taylor into deep waters, and drowned him. I think a defeat like that is more demoralizing than getting KO'd earlier in the fight, or losing on the cards. All Taylor had to do was cross the finish line, but Froch wasn't having any of that crap. When a shark smells blood, they go for the kill.
Rounds 2, 5 and 6 were 'pick 'em' rounds where you could go either way, and round 8 was all Froch unless you overvalue the last 5 or so seconds. I think the judges gave Taylor every one of them. That's why fighting in front of a home crowd is such an advantage. Personally I had it level after 11, and if it had gone to points I find it hard to find a way to give it to Taylor after the last round knockdown.
There's a home crowd advantage everywhere but by far the worst place to fight is in the U.K. Everyone is very badly full of shit there. Even the commentators are criminally biased. Richie Woodhall should be in prison for his absurd bias. Thery even cheat their own fighters when they go against each other. Take a look at Eubank Jr. against Nick Blackwell. 30 seconds into the telecast and you already knew Blackwell was the biased choice of everyone involved. Eubank jr. was a villain that deserved to be cheated according to their commentary. Eubank won every round, there wasn't even a close round. Woodhall had the fight about even after the 6th. After it was over he said, 'let's face it, Nick was always in the fight'. He lost 10 rounds in a row, you had to steal a round to give him one. Every fight I've seen the commentators have the Brit up by 4 rounds before the fight begins. Horrible, shameful bias. The U.S. guys are biased for the most part, but it's not on the level of the Brits. I would advise my own fighter to refuse any fight held in the U.K, even if it might slow his career. A decision win has to be very lopsided or they take it every time.
Honestly the 4th round was beautiful to watch. Both boxes going at it and trusting there training. There couches have something to be proud of both of em
