For the ones saying the warehouse associates should be happy making $15/hr I can guarantee if you work at amazon for a week you would change your mind. I worked there for 4 years as a youngster right out of high school back when they started you off at $12.50 and I can tell you it is beyond slave work. When your young you have no idea the value of the money your being paid but as soon as I left for another job I made a significant upgrade in pay to $23/hr and worked less then amazon. Amazon runs their employees to the ground, setting outlandish piece rates that you must maintain the entire 10-12 hours you work,5-6 days a week. If your rate slows down for anything you have managers coming to check on you to see what is going on. God forbid your sick and don’t have energy or even just tired they’ll give you strikes. After a few you get fired for them. Can’t forget all the stress you put on your back, hands, arms and legs from doing the same repetitive motion all day everyday...go on an get hurt and watch them blame you for it and instantly say it didn’t happen there. Yeah like most jobs but they don’t pay well at all for the amount of work they require. If they hired a bunch of crack heads and let them get high before their shifts that would work out fine for them but for normal people it’s too much. Hell I’ve had a dam custodian job in a manufacturing place pay me $18.75/hr where I spent the whole day finding new ways to look busy and never got bitched at. Try slowing down at amazon and your right out the door.

I went to amazon last week. They said I had the job on the computer. Then when I got there it was like a dmv line. You just walk up, take your picture, then go around and show your social security card at the next counter swab your cheeks for a drug test and then go to the next counter and your assigned a job and told the discipline policy..I told the guy It felt like we were ants on a farm. He said “well this is mass hiring “ I said more like a mass slave auction. No interview or nothing you just go sign your soul to Jeff bezoar for 15/hr and they throw you in the warehouse with the robots! No fuckin way man I walked the fuck out that prison. I shit you Not Security guards roaming the parking lot and check you at the door. The building looked like someone built a new real damn prison! Place is fucked man! I walked out no job, no unemployment check. I kept my damn integrity though bozar!

Even just a college degree in economics or political science, criminal justice, law, journalism, any area of science, literally anything, it’s all valuable and you can take that training to smack some sense into your community.

I worked at an Amazon warehouse during the Christmas season one year. The treatment toward the warehouse employees is unbeleavable. Their performance standards are strictly enforced, and they constantly threaten your job. There is literally not one day you go there begging for it to be over. The pay was so low. Other warehouses in the surrounding city paid more than the Amazon warehouse and these companies are nowhere as lucrative as Amazon.

A lot of storefronts like target and Walmart are shifting to be like Amazon to compete and they’ve adopted that practice at target. I remember having to run around to complete tasks as fast as possible while having to juggle in store shoppers. If you don’t keep up you’re disciplined and it’s getting hard to find a retail job that isn’t falling into the same practices as Amazon to just stay afloat
