Samana province in DR is one of those places we can't get enough of. We've stayed at some of the Airbnb's in Playa Colorada. Such a beautiful quaint awesome place to unplug.
You are enjoying life to the fullest, and I am enjoying it along with you. I am 80 plus years young now and although I had a great life, I must say that it was nothing like what both you are having. I wish you both lots of fun and a long healthy life.
First of all I want to thank you I’m a Dominican borne living in the US for almost 50 years, by watching your show this weekend, I’m elated to see places that I grew up visiting, wishing you much success, by the way I’m subscribed already, thanks for the memories !!
Cole your comment about feeling the shock-wave from the rocket as they launch. That's the same feeling you get anytime (and everytime) a fixed wing aircraft lands on an aircraft carrier. Emily When you say that the Bahamas is your favorite place, I imagine you saying that about every place you visit...;) Great video guys...cheers from Texas.
What place tugs you back? The Bahamas. When we left Annapolis in 1977 headed for PR and the Caribbean, the Bahamas were just the road we were going to take. No Thorny Path for us. We never made it to the Caribbean by boat. The Bahamas had so much to offer AND it was close and relatively easy. In 3 subsequent voyages we covered the northern islands very well. Time went by and we stayed in the Chesapeake. But the call was still there. This past winter I traveled alone (by air) back. Since Georgetown had been discovered, probably because we praised it so much, I chose another island we hadn't been to - Long Island. Spent a month experiencing a different view, more from the inside. I met a community that enveloped me, quite like the cruising community that was so important in all aspects of life aboard. Then I moved on to Georgetown for a week so I could spread my husband's ashes in a cut he put a name to: the Ten After Seven cut, just north of Stocking Island. I've traveled to many places and I'm drawn to the Bahamas - after the Chesapeake, which is home.
Great video. Really enjoyed it. Was in the DR back in the mid 80’s and I really enjoyed it. Always said I would go back. U guys b safe and enjoy your time there.
Cole & Emily, So glad to see your trip was a safe one and all went well besides the tough ride on your way to the DRep. You two are a great team and have learned so much for such a short time! Great vid y’all!
Another great video! That beach you saw whilst entering Samaná Bay, with the cliffs in the background, is called "Playa Frontón". One of the few places you can actually do Rock Climbing and hit the beach within 5 minutes. 2 recent movies were filmed there, "Arthur the King" with Mark Wahlberg and "The Lost City" with Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum. DR has one of the most investor friendly film industries in the region. Many crews from the US are now filming on location in DR thanks to a recent legal reform to attract investors.
I want to send you a video of our dog watching your dog! Ollie LOVES watching your channel and he LOVES Dixie! Not sure how to send it to you.... Love your channel!
It appears you may have missed mail migration season there in Samana which is truly a shame. When we sailed into there 3 years ago we passed multiple pods and it was fantastic.😊
My sister and some friends sailed the same route from Miami to the Dominican Republic and they had some rough waters But loved the adventure. Great video !
16:49 was my fav part haha totally started laughing out loud....sorry you didn't get the fish Cole but man how cool is it to say you've fed a wild shark ha - the drone footage is just stunning as well!!!
We are in Spanish Wells right now. Our second year being here. What a wonderful place, a quaint little fishing village. I love the Bahamas❤. My wife & I plus my wife’s best friend.
What a trip! I'm so glad you made it safely to your destination. When the seas and winds are calm, do you ever jump into the water when you are on your way to the next destination, or is that too dangerous? I look forward to seeing your adventures in the DR.
Another wonderful episode. You two are fun to watch and learn from. Do you have any information (or a link) regarding Cruising with the Crews and your summer/fall plans? Stay Safe and enjoy the DR. Mark & Amy (Orlando, FL)
What place tugs you back? For me it is St. George Island in Florida! Friends had a house on the beach they allowed us to use for twenty years, so many memories!
Good try on the fish. Finally, I've seen someone on a sailboat grab a spinning rod and throw a jig into a school of fish rather than trolling through the school and scattering them. Great job.
Hey Crews…why don’t cruisers stop in the Turks? Seems like all the channels pass them up for the DR. Enjoy your show and we will see you out there next year!
They unfortunately have the reputation of not being cruiser friendly, expensive, and hard with pets. While I (Cole) have been and enjoy Turks (great ledge diving) it is very similar to that of the Bahamas except they do not allow any fishing or spearing so a lot of people just going unless they miss their weather window.
This is always such a hard question to answer simply because each country is completely different but we have not had a hard time with it to date. We simply will not go to a country if they are not going to allow Dixie to come with us.
To further answer your question, the DR did not ask for any information on her, but the Bahamas on the other hand made us have a vet sign-off 48 hours before arrival.
Your poor poor poor border collie :( he should NOT BE OUT THERE !!!! GIVE HIM TO A FRIEND WHO HAS A LAND HOBBY!!! 11:32 HE LOOKS REALLY SEA SIck !!!!!!!!!!🤢 he needs TO GO HOME
Adiós! 👋🏼 I hope you’re blocking every creator who’s promoting Athletic Greens, too. This is a business Jimmy, not a hobby. Creating these videos for you to “detest” cost not only time but a lot of money and we’re not independently wealthy. I’m curious, how do you expect creators to make money? Your single view made me $0.00009 in ad revenue. I on the other hand have more than 40 hours of time invested into this single video for your viewing pleasure. We refuse to take on product sponsorships for products we don’t truly believe in.
Hi Jesse, Creating this high-quality content for your entertainment is very expensive. We love that you're able to escape Corporate America by watching our videos. We hope you can suffer through a couple ads that we make .0004 cents off of so we can keep providing you with entertainment. Cheers!

I appreciate the customs check in overview. I’ve always wondered what that process is like on a vessel.
Great video! We are presently sailing in Brazil, remembering how we enjoyed Cat Island, Bahamas.

@Cole, do you do all the cooking?
Is it complicated to travel with a dog between countries? I’d appreciate any information you can give me. Thanks
This is always such a hard question to answer simply because each country is completely different but we have not had a hard time with it to date. We simply will not go to a country if they are not going to allow Dixie to come with us.

Does Dixie have a PFD?
Yes, absolutely! We're actually working on a video of "Dixie the sailing dog". It's going to be a fun one! 😎

Hahaha I know right!! Don't worry we are going to make up for it here in the DR! - Cole

Nothing like a washing machine ride. 🤢
So here’s the rub, you got to many ad’s. I watch these videos to get away from corporate America. You should stop putting ad’s up all over the screen.
