  • Back in December 2000, my family took a trip to Universal Studios Florida. Here in its unedited form is a home video a 15-year old me took of, in my opinion the best part of the park, the Nickelodeon Studios Tour!
    You'll see the outdoor set of Slime Time Live, the Nickelodeon GAS Garage (in Stage 19) and bit of the indoor set of Slime Time Live, also in Stage 19-which taped to the left of the GAS Garage. (Taina was taping in Stage 18, but I had stopped tape at that point.)
    You'll also see my brother get slimed in the Game Lab, followed by actual set props from Nickelodeon game shows hanging on the Game Lab walls!

    Man I wish I could’ve seen this as a kid... I want to cry watching this, there was something so special about being a kid in the 90’s. Wish time travel was real.

    I remember when that slime geyser at the beginning went off and I got SO disappointed when I realized it was just green water, because I wanted to be slimed SO badly. We then went in and they must have been trying out a new version of the game show (this was September 2002), as I played in live a trivia-style show, which was fun but I remember being more bummed that I wasn't the kid picked to be slimed. Thanks for unlocking that memory! :)

    I'm still upset I didn't get slimed at Nickelodeon Studios. I had told my parents I wanted to get slimed since I was 5. They took me as a gift for my 10th birthday. I remember going to Universal Studios 1 day before my birthday. I didn't get chosen to be slimed and was sad so I asked my parents if we could go back to the Nick tour, and they didn't want to go again; they wanted to go visit the other parts of the park, even though we live in Los Angeles and almost have the same things in the Universal park here.. Then the next day I basically chilled at the hotel and played mini-golf with my mom for my 10th birthday. I asked my mom if she could take me back to Universal and she said no. I thought I could just get slimed at the Totally Nickelodeon show in Universal Hollywood, but that ended up closing a few months after. Then a couple more months after that something really bad happened within my family so it meant no trip to Orlando in the near future.

    Wow, that’s so cool that you actually showed the escalator room when they added the wild Thornberry murals, You could only see the escalator before the murals, amazing footage! I went in 1990, and the last time was in 2003 when they shortened the tour.

      Oh good question! When I went in July of 1990 they were filming Make the grade in stage 18 I beleive, and they had the audition room ofcourse, in 2003 all they were filming was slime time live I beleive or it either got canceled. I got to see Marc summers walk by. Very cool experience! I miss the studio.

      Yeah when I went in 2003/2004 for the last time it was only Game lab, I was kinda bummed out because the tour just wasn’t as good as it was when I went in 1990 - 95. The only thing I got to see was the Wild thornberry murals, One of my friends did work there tho Since 94. But he left in 2002, due to employees being let go.

    Interesting tour. Recently, a good friend of mine who works for CSX Transportation was telling me that for a very short period, talks between Universal, Nick and CSX about adding a track to the studios. Mostly to be used by Amtrak for having the Silver Star stop there en route to Miami or New York. Why the railroad line was never built is beyond me, but, imagine taking the train directly to Nickelodeon Studios.

    Now THIS was a really cool tour video! Although it didn't show much of the actual tour, which is a bummer since there was a rule of no video taping and has made finding footage of the tour a lot more difficult. you really knew your Nickelodeon and showed a lot of amazing stuff that I didn't know was at the studios at the time! Like the Get the Picture sign, the "What Would You Do?" props, the GUTS medals, all the logos that decorated the Game Lab, everything. Amazing job! 😀

    • @BlueHuskyYT
      @BlueHuskyYT 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@hostsathome7390 I will never understand why Nickelodeon had a problem with people filming the tour back then. Specially when in the later years, when the tour was shortened, they allowed people to record. I would say maybe it's because back then they were hard at work with production and don't want footage surfacing to Disney on what they were up to but I don't know. But because of that, now finding home video of the tour or even a layout of what the studios looked like during the tour is really hard to come by. There's countless videos of the Gabe Lab portion but not the tour. Hard to carve out a recreation of what the tour was like.
